Love Chocolate Buddha and find it a terrific place to stop for a reasonable meal, and a drink. I've been there a few times now and always enjoyed the food and appreciated the friendly and efficient service. It's a great spot to drop in before the footy.

The chocolate buddha was a pleasant little find down in Federation Square. Service was great and the chocolate spring rolls with salted caramel sauce and vanilla bean icecream were pretty bloody amazing.. Top it off with a spiced rum, ginger beer and lime and we were set. A great place to sit if you like to people watch and to... More

I have been in this restaurant a few years ago and my experience then was very positive except for being overcrowded and noisy. This time around I went to Chocolate Buddha with my partner, as I remembered I really enjoyed the food here. The restaurant was nearly empty and calm. We ordered the soft shell crab rolls, chicken ao nori... More

Another great meal at Chocolate Buddha with their super friendly staff and deliciousness for dinner. Met an old friend to share a meal and couldn't have asked for more. We rolled outta there with very full bellies after sharing a chicken dish, broccoli and zucchini tempura and some tasty veggie dumplings with an awesome wasabi mayo dipping sauce I've never... More

I had rice, veg dumplings and eggplant tempura $26. The veggie dumplings were HORRIBLE! Eggplant tempura under-cooked. The rice was ordered after the other dishes had arrived. But I had to chase it up (it should have come pretty much immediately given it is pre-cooked and the restaurant was virtually empty). My friend had the salmon which she said was... More

Oposite of Flinders Street station and direct at Yarra River this location is phantastic. We had a delicious lunch at Chocolate Buddha. The lunch menu plus add on with a glas of wine and a desert for 30 AUD per person keeps no wish open. Fresh Japanese cuisine. Service was very attentive.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
