I have been fortunate enough to have eaten at some amazing places around the world.. this is up there! I was told as a kid if your going to do something... do it properly! So we did. 8 courses with matching wines.. each course was as good as the next and it was an adventure we loved! Amazing food, amazing... More

I went here with 3 others. It wasn't a great start as our table wasn't ready!! So we were in the training kitchen for a while!!! Should have a pleasant waiting area. The food is very good & extremely tasty but I found the degustation menu a bit irritating. They do expect everyone to eat the same type of food.... More

I wen't here in December 2016. We started off with a cocktail which was probably the highlight of the meal. The food itself was very nice however including the bottle of wine and cocktail the meal came to over 300 AUS. My personal thoughts are as you go in the seats make you feel like you are in an airport... More

We dined here for my wife's birthday and all we can say is The Press Club truly is a fine dining experience. Although we sat right next to the entrance, the layout and service of the restaurant made you feel like you were secluded in your own little world. Each plate we tasted was a testament to the skills and... More

Celebrated a special birthday with a friend, it was a very expensive night but we all had a fabulous time. We chose the 8 course degustation with matched wines, the knowledgable sommelier made the matched wines well worth while. Tried a few that we wouldn't have tried before. They dealt with a couple of different food allergies with ease.

Once again I was lucky to seat at a table overlooking the kitchen. Love to see the action and energy of the heart of a restaurant. The food was amazingly good. From the first bites of salty crispy and not oily at all little loukoumades with tarama, to the impressive Greek inspired cocktails served in a very very nice way.... More

A group of us had a fantastic evening here. The service and food was as we expected, brilliant! the seats were comfortable the whole mood of the place is just right for a great evening with friends or a romantic occasion. Our only let down was the table not being ready until after 910PM when we had booked for 845pm.... More

My husband & I had dinner here 2 nights ago. We booked the early dinner so we knew we had a limited time before the second sitting but we were never rushed. Each member of staff was friendly, helpful & knowledgeable. We had the 8 course menu which gave us a pleasant sized serving of some amazing food. We would... More

Yesterday Paul and I had the 6 course chef selected menu at lunch time. Well words fail me other than to say it was delightful from start to finish. The service was personal and just the perfect balance of friendly and highly professional. Each course was a fresh and balanced and full of flavour a huge joy to experience as... More

Great food, great personal & great atmosphere! Unfortunately it felt like the service took longer time then expected for the staff since they didn't even ask if any of us wanted any coffee to our last dessert and the bill was abruptly put on our table. We felt a little bit pushed out which is sad when you pay a... More

George Calombaris' flagship Melbourne restaurant for MAdE Establishment has cemented itself on the global dining scene with its unique Modern Greek cuisine. In October 2006, the four directors joined together to form MAdE Establishment, and opened their first venue, The Press Club Restaurant and Bar. This began a new era for George Calombaris and cemented his place as a culinary star for his Modern Greek Cuisine - never seen before Melbourne; where modern twists to traditional Greek cuisine has put this restaurant on the global map and has diner's wanting more. The Press Club seats 38 guests in individual booths. Next door to The Press Club at 52 Flinders Street, is Press Club - Projects, George Calombaris' creative and development kitchen. This space can be booked privately for up to 8 guests and offers a completely interactive experience as the chefs experiment with new dishes to make the menu in The Press Club.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
