A great meal with awesome service and food that makes you salivate as soon as it hits the table. We really enjoyed the Pork Belly and the baked custard.

We were looking forward to going to Longrain as we were just emerging from Lock down but the servings of food which we were to share were too small- we all went home hungry and disappointed even though the food we did have was very...nice. The place was very noisey too which made it hard to follow conversations. Their idea of buying add ons is not a good one when yours paying a good deal in the first place but everyone is hanging back as there’s not enough food to go around.More

Great food. Awesome service. Inviting ambiance. We took the Banquet option. The entire experience was worth every penny!

Great authentic Thai food. We really enjoyed every bite. Just moved from Bangkok to Melbourne this is a nice find to have a few flashbacks. It’s a bit westernized but hey many places in Bangkok do that too. Staff was amazing. Super friendly and always...spott on. Every dish was carefully explained and all the dishes are available as veggie option too. Can’t wait to go back soon.More

The food was wonderful, the cocktails were lovely, the service was excellent. Almost flawless. The only very minor criticism is that the room is a smidge noisy. But I don't want to give that too much weight: this was one of the very best restaurant...experiences of my life.More

Had dinner here on our first trip to Melbourne in months. The food is amazing and the service is fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the sticky tamarind pudding and the meringue.

When you walk in to the restaurant, you are welcomed by smiling friendly team, beautiful surroundings and an aroma which has you immediately dreaming if the meal you are about to have. Our family are no strangers to Thai cuisine, so we always get excited...about going out to experience it whenever we can. The restaurant is located in the entertainment precinct at the top end of town in Melbourne where you are spoilt for choice. Last night were celebrating my partners belated Birthday, finally getting out of lockdown and securing a dream job, so we wanted something special and we got just that. We chose the banquet menu and every dish, was true to traditional Thai, the flavours of every dish were so distinct and utterly delicious. Couple this with amazing staff and service and your only issue will be that you can’t eat more. The lamb shank Massaman and the sticky pork were stand outs!More

Loving Longrain Due to life and COVID it had been almost 18 months since I had been to Longrain, my favourite feed. During that time it had closed for good because of the pandemic and then was saved by the great Scott Pickett, thankfully. So,...on the eve of lockdown 5.0 I had the pleasure of introducing @eatingwithsteph (insta) to the restaurant I had told her so much about. With partners joining in we anticipated a fabulous evening and we were not disappointed. There is something very special about the atmosphere at Longrain, the look, the feel and the vibe all add to the experience. From the moment we arrived I knew the service standard had not changed, the team are simply fantastic and you feel very very welcome. So then, how is the food? Have they remained true to what I had come to know and love? Yes! Yes they have. The favourites are there and as delicious as ever and there are some wonderful additions as well. We feasted on a range of delights, beginning with the betel leaf, smoked trout, galangal, & finger lime and the caramelised tofu, peanuts and pineapple. These single bite delights set your taste buds aflame and get you ready for what is to come. The two all-time favourites followed, The filled eggnet with bean shoots, peanuts and coriander is a genuinely tasty dish. It normally has prawn as well but we went the vegetarian option tonight. Next up is the most luxurious of dishes in the salt & pepper silken tofu, crispy eschalots and sweet soy. The sweet soy is just mouth-wateringly good and the tofu is the absolute best. As I have said before, if someone says they will never eat tofu get them to try this. If they can genuinely say they do not like it then they will never like tofu because this is the ultimate tofu dish. It is also the star of the mighty Longrain menu for me. Next up is the very tasty green curry of Japanese pumpkin, young jackfruit and Thai basil, a real flavour bomb. Accompanied by the Gai lan (broccolini) with shiitake XO sauce and some jasmine rice this is a fabulous array of flavours that round out the main meal just perfectly. You should know what is coming for dessert. There is no way of going past the coconut sorbet. The flavour and texture are the ideal way to finish your meal with it leaving your palette feeling refreshed. It is always a nervous experience when you have such high expectations and you are showing off your favourite to dear friends but I really should not have been worried. Longrain remains number one, without doubt.More

Longrain's survival was a rare bit of good news after Covid appeared to have finished it off. But it's changed - still very good, but service is rushed (we were fed and done in under an hour) and the choices seem more limited. There were...still some great dishes, and the cocktails and Betel Leaf starters are as good as ever, but this now has more the feel of a quick meal before the the theatre, or a big function.More

Enjoyed a lovely meal with my husband here Thursday night for my birthday. Staff were very attentive. Ambiance was lovely, not too noisy. Food was beautiful, especially the egg net. Flavours were amazing!
