Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not sure where to start, my mother always said if you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing but to my fellow tripadvisors I feel I need to say how my experience was. Going by the reviews I went here for dinner but was...very disappointed, ordered a scotch fillet and it arrived very under cooked, I do not like my meat underdone but at no time was I asked how I like my steak cooked, I did not want to complain, as I was hungry and just cut the edges off and left the raw steak in the middle. I did mention this to the waitress but she did not say anything just gave me a strained looked. 😒 My daughter is vegan and she was very underwhelmed with her meal both entree and main where very ordinary. When we left and went to pay, it seemed an effort for the staff member to serve us so we could pay for this pathetic meal. Probably one of the worst meals that I have eaten and I am pretty easy to please. I am sure that I could make a better meal at home. Sorry if the truth hurts.....More

Our first night in Melbourne and we booked Coda because my son had heard a lot about it. What an amazing night we had. The Maitre'D (wish I could remember his name) was fantastic, he ran us through the menu, asked what we liked and...then suggested most of our meal and we just added a few things to it. Couldn't fault it, it was all fantastic. Flavours are mostly subtle but some hit hard but in a good way. I would thoroughly recommend an evening here.More

We had an amazing evening here. Love the basement layout. The service was first class helping us understand the menu and flavours. The drinks were great. Making me an espresso martini which was not on the menu. The food was different and very tasty. Really...enjoyed the lamb and fish. Had to get the fries which were a great addition. The desserts were also very tasty. Well worth the visit.More

Visited with a friend and ordered the Javanese curry with roti. Curry tasted like Ayam red curry paste with coconut milk, no green veges in dish, all veges were deep fried in batter. Roti was not roti, it was a bread that looked suspiciously like...focaccia. Expensive. Everyone raves about this place. Why?More

Loved our experience and the food from small bites to larger dishes was absolutely brilliant. We were confused that we couldn’t book a table online but when we rang the venue they had no problem seating us. There were also more tables free during our...whole sitting than I would have expected. Perhaps not everyone rings when unsuccessful on line. Definitely worth a repeat visitMore

We all came to Aust tennis open and we went for a dinner mid week with friends. The room was loud when all the people arrived as so many are these days.We shared all the plates. Our waiter was great but the male matiar’d was...abrupt for some reason. We started with the crispy tapioca prawn with betel leave which tasted great.Pork skewers, and the tempura bugs are delicious. Steak -scotch fillet was lovely with a side of asparagus. I highly recommend the above average Coda for a special night out. Beware this is an expensive restaurant so bring your credit card unloaded.More

I was there for a business lunch. The food was quite good however the selected dishes were a bit spicy. The only thing that surprised me was that I received a bill for our lunch that was not corresponding to the ordered items. Actually, it...was almost 100 AUD over and they claimed that charged another table’s bill to our bill. Although they apologised for the mistake I was expecting that prior submitting a bill they check what is charged at least for this type of restaurant.More

Please to dine again at Coda after 5 or so years. While the iconic Barramundi in jungle juices was missing the food: oyster with scanner crab, spencer gulf king fish sashimi, scallops with delicious citrus hints and the lemongrass& coconut milk curry underneath perfectly cooked...flathead (market fish) was excellent. They could probably do with a clare valley riesling on the menu as it would be better quality and value than alsace and support Australian makers. Service was generally Australian standard with 4 different people none of seemed to know what the other was doing.More

With an 8 week wait due to its popularity, CODA is 100% worth the wait and experience. Outstanding staff with detailed knowledge of all the wine and meals makes for a very well connected and deeply satisfying time. Having listened to the staff we chose...meals that delivered and then some. From tempura bugs and pork skewers thru mains and desert specials it’s a meal we will speak of for a long while to come.More

What should have been a lovely dinner at Coda, turned into a big disappointment. The food was very nice, the staff were attentive. Except for one staff member, who knew the couple at the table beside ours. He spent the entire time (not just 5...minutes here and there, but he whole time) standing beside our table, talking loudly and animatedly about his life, his upcoming wedding, his trips around the world and his success stories. At one stage he squeezed beside our tables and bent over to show his friend something, and my partner had to lean away to avoid being touched by his behind. My partner and I were unable to have a conversation due to the loud staff member’s incessant talking. This overshadowed the whole experience. We had expected more from a one hat restaurant. We were so disappointed.More

Exciting menu, polite & informative service from most staff. We enjoyed all the small plates & a couple of the larger ones. The dishes were clever & inventive. The oyster was so fresh I could have had a dozen. Some incredible standouts, but a couple...of slight letdowns, the tempura bugs unfortunately the batter was a little soggy, just didn’t hold up as it cooled & they were way to hot to handle to eat when first served. The steak tartare, I think was slightly to salty & I’m not sure of the beef used. But the rest, incredible. The restaurant wasn’t busy when we arrived, but was picking up mid afternoon when we left. Overall good to excellent, I’ll return when their new menu comes out and look forward to sampling the dishes againMore

We've eaten here at least four times but this time will be our last. The place was extremely busy and the waitress was very cold and unengaging, almost robotic.

Worth a visit. We enjoyed the starters. Good variety. Lamb ribs and scallops were good. Tempura bugs was acceptable. Kingfish was good. Mains were with Asian flavors. We had steak, barramundi, pork cutlets and vegetable curry. I found the curry a little rich and sweet....Desserts was interesting with a good mix of tastes.More
