We recently ate at the Swiss Club Restaurant after a comedy festival show in a room on the second floor. TA said the restaurant was closed, Zomato said it was open and we booked on line (sorry dimmi). The story is that it normally doesn't open on weekends, just for the comedy festival and Easter Sunday. As noted by others,... More

Can't comment on the restaurant in any way as did not eat here but as a venue (as part of the Melbourne Comedy Festival) it was excellent. The room was small, at a guess holding a couple of hundred people at the most, providing an excellent intimate atmosphere for the comedian, Richard Stubbs, to present his routine and deliver a... This is more like a cafeteria or club setting rather than a restaurant. The decor is traditional but begging to be refreshed. The food is basic and traditional. Food and fondue weren't out standing given the location and then neighbouring restaurants.

The fondue was wonderful and we had more than we needed. All the accompanying vegies, bread and sausages were wonderful. Would recommend to all our friends and will visit again.

Tucked away in Flinders lane the restaurant at the Swiss Club is open to the public from 6 pm Monday to Friday. The menu is reasonable and the food is good. Service is efficient and friendly. The restaurant compliments the food with a good selection of wine, beer and soft drinks. It is clear the challenge is attracting sufficient patrons... More

Went here with family to celebrate my niece's birthday and we were not disappointed. The cheese fondue was to die for and also other items like the Wiener Schnitzel were a delight. Slightly pricey but well worth the cost!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
