We went there for a catch up with some old friends at previous job. We greeted by a friendly waitress to be seated but after that some of the waiters were serving us and spoke in their own language. With ordered like 7 different of food to be shared among 16 of us. The portions were quite small and the... More

Arrived at 7 pm , enjoyed San Chou bow, Peking Duck and Kung po prawns accompanied with steamed rice. All food choice were excellent and enough for the three of us for dinner, I noticed in particular how attentive the customer service was , all up an excellent evening spent with friends and we said we should come here once... This is an average restaurant - the food is acceptable but not great by any means. We had an authentic Melbourne yum cha experience in that the food came on trolleys and the staff were indifferent at best, and sometimes quite rude. We managed to get a table on Sunday without a booking, which was great but most food was... More

Chinese restaurant, outside Chinatown, which was very clean and pleasant. Service was quick and efficient. Food tasty - large meat dishes and small rice portions.

We dropped into the Red Emperor for yum Cha . The food was okay but nothing to rave about. However we did find the service to be excellent. We have dined at Red Emperor numerous times as we particularly like the dumplings. Maybe we were a little late as they were cleaning up around us which was basically annoying .... More

Out for a very special occassion. Greeted by not friendly staff, even the Maitre D was a grump, no smiles with service at this place & no one was glad they had a job, staff forgetful. Great venue, food not upto standard for a classy restaurant! Peking duck, lovely dish, but boy, how much sauce do you need! Dumplings just... More

Sunday Yum Cha can be a bit of a gamble in Melbourne with so many restaurants to choose from. We visited the Sunday art and craft market for our get together with friends. Afterwards, since we knew we wanted to have lunch AND a long social catch-up, we decided on Red Emperor. No waiting, excellent, courteous service and helpful staff.... More

We came across from WA and had a party of a dozen and as before the staff at Red Emperor did not disappoint. The food was plentiful and tasty , and the wine selection was extensive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a whole night out . Gigi

On our first day in Melbourne, our friend took us to Red Emperor. We liked it so much that we returned for our last night. Service was very attentive. Besides having a fine array of yummy dishes from which to choose, Red Emperor features a very nice fine wine list. There were several dishes that we enjoyed, particularly the stuffed... More

This was my fourth visit. Very consistent food and service. Yum chaos excellent but today favoured some a la carte which didn't disappoint. A very reliable and consistent offering within easy walking distance of Melbourne cbd.
