Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cannot fault the service, food/drinks and atmosphere. From the second we walked in, we were greeted in a friendly, welcoming way. The attention we received with service was great. Very and cosy on a cold, winters night

Booked a table for 1pm in the restaurant . It was freezing cold but they were unable to move us. We waited over 45 mins for our good which was very expensive for what we received. This place used to be excellent quality and value...but has become very expensive with less portion size. We had a bill of over $200 for 4 main meals and 1 entree with 1 glass of wine and 2 pints of Guinness. We were also charged nearly $30 for pub or holiday surcharge! Absolutely outrageous and no warning provided to us. My very last visit here. Used to be a family favourite. Such a shame.More

Ended up here by default really, being on holiday here from Scotland it was never my intention to dine in an Irish pub but we had a great night in here, live music, good food, healthy plateful of food and a pretty varied menu. It’s...just a shame it does not have a window to the outside, I bet a lot of people miss this place completely.More

I love a Guinness back home in England and after a while in Australia I had an urge. Unfortunately, as you so often find abroad, probably because the turnover of it isn’t huge, the Guinness was a little disappointing and was too bitter and not...particularly creamy as it should be. However, my wife’s wine was good and we stayed for food. We ordered Mussels in white wine sauce and a Chicken Schnitzel with mushroom sauce. The mussels were big, meaty and tasty but there wasn’t a lot of them unfortunately. My wife liked her Chicken and, for her, it was too much so I finished it off and filled myself up too! There was a singer/guitarist playing traditional Irish songs while we were there and it was an enjoyable evening which would have been even better if the Guinness was up to scratch.More

After touring around Eastern Australia we have been in some high end eateries and some run of the mill ones too. Our experience in P J O'brien's by the river beats them all. The food is genuine, cooked on site, well presented and most importantly...tasty. I had a simple steak and ale pie, and for once it was a proper one, not a hot pot with a crust! The staff and service were spot on. Worth a visit if your here and want vfm.More

Try the Sunday Roast Special with Yorkshire Pud and gravey, it was very nice and my partner had the caesars salad 🥗 which they enjoyed. Very comfortable atmosphere, the only complaint was they forgot one of our sides, wouldn’t allow us to take our leftovers...and the waitress had slight attitudeMore

We have been here a couple of times, the staff are pleasant and professional, they pour a nice pint of Guinness. But seriously, the steak sandwich is just the best. Is on the small bites side of the membership but don't believe it.

Well about time went to eat at a place who think of how much they charge and think of the customers. The food typically English Irish pub. Service great and prices very good. Food great . Obriens . Someone who is thinking about not charging...over the top. We have all suffered from Covid we are all trying to get back to normal so please keep your prices reasonable so we can afford to return and help you by coming to your venues Thanks O’brien’s for supporting your customer so we can support you. Great place for a drink and watch footballMore

We ordered the Sunday roast with all the trimmings. It was terrible, no Yorkshire pudding, beef was fatty and so over cooked, cauliflower was barely cooked and the potatoes were cold!! Drinks were fine and staff were nice but food is terrible.

My daughter & I were on our way to Eureka Tower to watch the sunset & needed a bite to eat. The staff were all friendly from the security officer helping people check in, to the bar man and waitress. The food was good especially...the salmon BUT best of all for me doing Febfast they had a selection of palatable zero alcohol wines. The food court at Southgate maybe closed on Friday day night but the pub is abuzz with live music as well.More
