Lunch with an old friend. Great service from friendly staff. We opted for the daily special and were most satisfied with our pie. Will certainly be back.

A friend from the Western Districts and I were looking for a simple pub meal and so visited The Irish Times. We were looking at the boards outside and the young lady behind the bar said good evening through the window. Always a good sign in my book that she was taking notice of what was happening with "passing trade"... More

No complaints here. The Irish Times has a good authentic vibe and I did enjoy the few meals I had here. Never felt overly crowded or stuffy. Live music was also a nice added bonus. Bar staff and locals were chatty enough to keep me around for a few extra pints too so I will be back!

Bad mannered staff, so rude to customers. Definitely won't be back 👎🏼 it was a pity as the food was actually pretty good.

Downstairs bar nice and cosy where you can lean out the window if you like. Upstairs is where the entertainment is. Had a great evening with some authentic Irish music with a cello.....great! Guinness was great too 😊

We stumbled upon this little gem for a night cap which turned into a few drinks and a dance. Live music on the Sat was great, drinks were reasonably priced.

Cassidy – I went to Irish Times for lunch this week; I got the salmon main and a lemon, lime bitters. Service was good, our orders were taken relatively quickly and came out soon after. The drink was generous on the bitters which was good, and the main was lovely. The mashed potato was really nice and creamy, and the... More

Easy walk from tramline along Little Collins to the well-signed pub. Snug, modest sized, a reasonable range of beer, and basic meal choices. Noise level okay for social conversation but could become too noisy for working meals.

Took a dozen or so work colleagues here midweek for drinks and dinner. Service is always good, friendly and they gave us our own space upstairs for our little function. Everyone had great meals and the ribs here are a winner especially.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
