Unfortunately, this place does not have any idea what good customer service is. All staff avoided giving service by looking away from customer gaze. I had to ask three times for milk for my tea which I originally ordered. The waitress had no idea what...cakes they have available. Looking over the table of four next to ours was shocking. All had individual pots of teas with elaborate tea cups and 4 individual cakes that barely fitted on the small table. Then come 2 plates of sandwiches and the waitress simply asked them to hold it, and have their cakes on their laps. Disgusting. The waitress should have been more resourceful and not left rudely for customers to manage their mistakes. Advice: think twice before entering.More

I have been here on a couple of occasions but this was the first time solo. Firstly, I was asked where I would prefer to sit. As i sat, water was being poured for me. I was given time to think about what I wanted...from their beautiful selection and it was brought out in a timely manner. It was lovely just to sit and leisurely read my book without being hurried through. The staff were very attentive and friendly.More

Great little tea room in the middle of Melbourne. Wide selection of teas and cakes. A perfect place to relax after the shopping.

Fantastic tea house in The Block Arcade in Melbourne. A large selection of teas to choose from served in gold rimmed china cups and saucers . We also recommend the strawberry sponge cake - yummy. Excellent service and a wonderful old world ambience.

We had a lovely lunch consisting of a Club Sandwich (one between two is recommended if you have sweets too), a Strawberry and Chocolate Tart, and Apple Strudel. I love apple strudels, especially with plenty of soft currents and cinnamon. The pastry was perfect too.

Coffee was great- however the red velvet cake was really dry. Not saved by the icing and would expect better than your franchise cafe. Unfortunately wasn’t betterMore

We were a little disappointed when visiting this cafe today. The bread used for the chicken sandwiches was dry and definitely not the usual sandwiches we have had in the past 35 years or so. There was only one waitress on duty during lunchtime, who...wasn’t coping with the number of customers today, which was not her fault and she was pleasant and friendly. They should have more staff on board to ensure that everyone is served in a timely manner. Some were waiting for some time to be served. We also ordered a pot of tea, which merely had a few tea leaves and boiling water. We had to ask for more leaves so that we could actually taste the tea. This is a shame given the history of this tearoom. Sadly the basic service of water was brought to the table after we had already finished our sandwiches and coffees. There is definitely an opportunity for improvement here. We would like to continue dining here, but not sure when or if we will be back.More

Situated in the beautiful Block Arcade in the centre of Melbourne, this cafe is a splendid remnant of Victorian Melbourne. we enjoyed coffee, sandwiches and cake here in a delightful ambience, although tables were a little close. The range of delicious looking cakes was extensive,...the traditional sandwiches delicious coffee adequate and the service very friendly and attentive.More

As a child, I fondly remember visiting the Tea rooms. Getting dressed up to come into the city, shopping at David Jones or visiting the dentist, followed by the iconic Hopetoun Tea rooms. I was so pleased, some 25 years later, when my Mum and...I had opportunity to return . It is like nothing has changed. The creamy rich cakes were to die for, but, my old fashioned milk shakes had been replaced with the hand china coffee or tea cups. There always a queue, if you make time, this place is definitely worth the wait.More

Hello, thank you for your question. Unfortunately there is no parking within 100m, however on the weekends there is limited 1 hour parking on Collins st opposite the Block Arcade. I hope this helps.
