Important business lunch on a Saturday. The food was so disappointing and the staff were aloof. The window seat was good. Business was good but unfortunately, the charm has gone at this restaurant.

Had a reunion with old friends in the Grill at this iconic restaurant. The service was superb but the food less so. Oysters from Albany were small and tasteless, The wild boar ragu was a weak mix of mince and tomato. I asked for a..."well done" Filet Mignon and got charred remains. By contrast the wine list was very extensive and wines by the glass were excellent. Staff were friendly and 'went the extra mile' to ensure that we were happy with our seating and finding a taxi to depart.More

We elected to have a pre-luncheon drink offered on the street outside the restaurant, because lobbing in as we did without a reservation--they didn't have a table available immediately. I thought it a good omen this could work so nicely.! Well as far as my...ordering choices it may have been..the lasagna was as I'd remembered it & indeed it was utterly sublime. Alas my husband's "ravioli " --unusually offered stuffed with mortadella+other treats --proved an innovation unrealised successfully by the kitchen.. The chef had generously filled the plumped-up parcels, but they resembled more a sort of side-truncated /flattened bon-bon, having been g thickly clamped to seal each side of the folded pasta sheet ...& those thick " sides" were sadly not cooked tender al dente at all. We tried the superb-looking ricotta cheesecake, but we found it a little "dry" and the elegant (but not generous!) saucing didn't quite make it humm without at least a few reservations...... Maybe the lesson learned here is IF you're returning to live past glories fondly remembered. . .. .dont. Its just too dangerous going down memory lane...& sometimse you're the only one left standing! We had a decent coffee (not fabulous) & called it quits. The staff tried hard, they really did. But Grossi having decided to service pavement diners (maybe a survival post-Covid matter ?) the wait staff are now obliged to be dashing in & out ...out & in > rushing right through the dining room to the kitchen , FROM the kitchen, constantly opening & closing the front door ...dishes/ bottles/ glasses always in hand....this ruined any sense of style & calm & reduced it to some silly suburban joint desperately trying to stay afloat, & ditching any tradition it ever knew to achieve just that. So I don't complain too much..its deadly serious this Covid & survival. & I sincerely hope the Grossi family can make it. But its just that a $187 lunch for two was not worth it. Sad. Maybe they'll sort out how to restore the mood in the Cellar Bistro--my memory of internal bustle & energy was one thing ..but not this. Oh no. Heavy stuff all this...go & have a lasagna anyway! That will not disappointMore

We were greeted by Prince our waiter. The lunchtime crowd was busy. Prince calmly cared for us with a touch of dignity and reserve. He presented the meals and wine and water as if we were special. We were seated at a slightly larger than...normal table which we appreciated as the bread and sides came along. The pasta and the fish of the day were perfect size and delicious. The tiramisu must have been made by a local nona. It was the best ever, as good as in Italy. We were very impressed as we noticed Guy Grossi himself checking that the entrance doors and mats were perfect. There was a contented hum in the room created by eager diners, top class food, wine and service. Thankyou Prince and thank you Guy Grossi for a special occasion lunch.More

Having travelled from interstate we did extensive research as to what would be the best restaurant to celebrate our milestone 30th wedding anniversary. Florentino came up as the 6th best restaurant in Melbourne so we made a reservation. Firstly I’d like to say that the...service was impeccable, beyond that however, we were thoroughly disappointed. We decided to order 3 courses from the alacarte menu. Out of the 3 courses there was sadly only one dish that impressed us which was the Tuna tartare entree , beyond that , both our second dish’s (pasta) were “chewy”. The final course we both ordered the same which was the veal saltimbocco. This was the highlight of disappointing! So bland and chewy we couldn’t eat it. Sadly we both decided to send it back with the message that we have never ever complained or sent back a meal in any restaurant ever. Although we received an apology and a glass of dessert wine as compensation for our dissatisfaction we left the restaurant extremely unhappy with our experience.More

My partner and I were lucky enough to have both our wedding ceremony at intimate reception at Grossi Florentino, with exclusive use of the whole upstairs. We are still pinching ourselves, as it was the most beautiful setting for our perfect day. We are blown...away by the service we received right from the outset, with the team accommodating all our requests with ease and a smile. Our venue contact Stephanie was a joy to work with and the entire team were impressive. Our day began with champagne, cocktails, canapés and a ceremony in the more relaxed Wynn Room, before we moved to the grand Mural Room for lunch and dancing. The Grossi team accommodated live music in each room, making our day all the more special. The food and drink was phenomenal and met all our expectations. And we capped off our day with gelati from the outside gelato cart as we departed. As the bride, I felt relaxed as soon as I stepped foot in the venue. And each time I went to sit or stand from my seat, a staff member was there to assist with my dress. Every service person met us with a smile and made us feel so special. Our friends and family have all commented since on the food, the wine and cocktails, the service and of course the rooms, all of which were perfect. Thank you to Stephanie and the entire Grossi team. You made our day the very best it could have possibly been! We highly recommend Grossi to anyone considering the venue for an important celebration.More

We took advantage of the end of the lockdown to visit Grossi Florentino. We discovered why Grossi Florentino has the reputation for being one of Melbourne's best restaurants. I ordered medium rare steak, and that is exactly what I was given. Everyone should dine at...Grossi Florentino at least once in their life.More

We come here twice a year but 2020 slowed us down. It was great to return to the ambience, the exemplary service and the simply stunning food. The sardines and salad were a wonderfully fresh way to start and could not have been better. My...wife had fish Croquettes with a magnificent sauce. She followed with an eye fillet on another wonderfully deep, tich sauce, house-made horseradish and salsa verde: 10 out of 10. My beef cheek was again marvellous, The accompanying mash was as light as angel breath. A cabbage salad and potatoes were side dishes and were deeply appreciated. We finished with probably the best coffees we hav had in eighteen months! Than you team. Highly recommended.More

Just delicious! Had a mid-afternoon lunch here sitting outside on the sidewalk, lovely dappled sun - great spot to watch the world go by. Had a delicious penne ragu and glass of poggerino chianti classico and finished with coffee and yummy dessert. Nice service.

Beautiful vibe and warm welcome as we arrived for a Saturday lunch. I had such high expectations so felt a little let down by how long it took to be delivered the menus or to be offered a drink. It was really far too long...as many staff walked past us several times. Once that was sorted, the staff who looked after us were friendly, knowledgeable but perhaps still a little green. Having to ask for my wine glass to be topped up considering the price point left me feeling a little deflated. Thankfully the food was superb! Classy Italian with beautiful flavours. Pici was full of flavour and my tuna steak was perfect!More

Hello, I'm sorry for the delay. No doubt you have already experienced the delight of Grossi Florentino by now. Smart casual is fine, but it's so lovely there and getting dressed up would be nice.
