We went there for a dinner and ordered half Peking duck, garlic stir fried baby spinach, egg fried rice and Shanghai noodles. The stir fried dishes were so oily that there's a thick layer of oil at the bottom of each of the plate. The veg dish was really salty and the veg was not fresh. We expected better food quality in a restaurant especially paying over 2.5x more than what you'll pay in a food court. I had better food and less oily food in food courts.
Peking duck was average, the spring onion was not washed thoroughly that there were still some soil on it. The dishes are too pricy for what we got for the night. Staff was friendly and service was good though. We will not go back.

The food in the banquet for 2 was delicious and plentiful, however, when we initially enquired about the contents of the banquet for 2 the waitress was unable to answer our query about the banquet due to a language barrier. In her defence, she did go and find someone to answer our queries. The food was delivered to the table in a timely manner. The decor is very ordinary but is compensated by the quality of the food, especially the Peking Duck. An enjoyable well priced meal.

I keep coming back here, I love Peking duck & seriously they do it well.
Order a banquet, except way to much food! Did I mention the duck! Banquets for two, except half a duck, for groups of 3 or 4 a whole duck.
Some reviews say the service is shocking, but seriously on a whole we have found most wait staff polite and accommodating.
Great value ( premium spirits at $7 ) good Chinese beer! Order your banquet & and they are more then happy to package up your leftovers to takeaway. Finish with a banana fritter.
It’s not fine dining, the service can be a bit hit and miss, but it’s friendly, fun and affordable. And it’s about the duck.

We ordered a banquet with 8 courses and only received one course in a 90 minute period. Other people arrived after us and received all their food. They still charged us for the one course, which they tried to say was half a duck! I was stunned!!

I have been coming here each time I visit Melbourne because this restaurant serves absolutely the best Peking duck outside of China, no kidding! I am so glad that this place has survived the horrendous Covid-19 pandemic and all the lockdowns over the last 2 & 1/2 years. The Peking duck here is also the most reasonably priced among all the Chinese restaurants in Melbourne city as well as greater Melbourne. This time, I was dining here together with my friends and besides the Peking duck, we also ordered the soup dumplings(Xiao Loong Bao), the deep fried salt & pepper white bait, the stir-fried Chinese broccoli and a bowl of duck bone soup. The service was good, our food arrived promptly and all the dishes were very good.
Their best dish is still their signature Peking duck.

Got a window seat for the view. Toilet needs a facelift. Staff need to learn the menu so that they can explain dishes to the customers and be more attentive to their requests for more drinks etc. The food was particularly unmemorable. The duck arrived on a plate already sliced but there certainly wasn’t half a duck on display – it was more like a ¼ duck served. No I won’t be back again. With 2 starters, one ½ duck portion and two beers + mineral water we were nearly $70 Az

We were tempted by the menu outside and when we ascended the stairs were reassured to see quite a view Chinese eating there.
However, our meal was less than memorable. The duck was not carved at the table, and if it was half a duck, then it must have been a very small bird! The meat itself was overcooked and dry, but the skin still rubbery rather than crispy.
After eating 9 of the 10 pancakes, we had run out of duck, despite spreading it sparsely, and had already asked for refills on the onio s and cucumber.
Overall a disappointing experience and we will not return.

We felt like dumplings for dinner. The service was quick, decor suited for the market the restaurant was aiming for. There wasn’t too much wrong with the dumplings. Some were a bit bland for our taste. Wasn’t overpriced, and the helpings were adequate for the tariff.

Was pleasantly surprised by this place, only chose to eat here after missing out at another place, the food was really good, the pork pan fried dumplings were juicy & full of flavour. We had scallops & prawns with cashew nuts & the seafood was cooked perfectly, the eye fillet Cantonese style melted in our mouth, the service was friendly & prompt, will definitely visit again when in Melbourne again.

I had been here with my wife several years ago, so took a friend this time. We shared a set banquet meal with 2 entrees, a soup, 4 other dishes and a desert. We made our own Peking duck wraps which were delicious, as were all the other dishes. The service was excellent, and the whole experience was extremely good. Recommended.

I have dined here many times over the years and I must say that they have successfully maintained the high quality of their Peking duck, despite the change of management several times. During my most recent dining session here together with a group of friends, I discovered that one whole Peking duck costs AUD55.80, which is the most reasonable price in the entire Chinatown and Melbourne CBD! Besides Peking duck, we also ordered stir-fried bean shoots and pork soup dumplings(Shiao Loong Bao). We enjoyed our meal here thoroughly and we shall return to get our "Peking duck fix" in the near future.

Hadn't had Peking duck for a while so we thought we would try Dahi Peking Duck Restaurant. As the name suggests, it specialises in Peking duck.
Most, if not all the patrons in the restaurant ordered Peking duck. The chef carves the the meat from the whole duck table side.
We ordered the Peking duck banquet for $78.80 for two people. The banquet includes a whole Peking duck, duck san choi bao, duck bone and bean curd soup and duck meat with fried rice or noodles. We chose the noodles.
The duck was accompanied with 20 pancakes, sauce, spring onion and cucumber for us to wrap our Peking duck.
The Peking duck was the best dish of the dinner followed by the San choi bao. There was plenty of food for two people.
If you don't want the banquet, you can order a whole Peking duck for $55.
We were too full to try the desserts.

Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
