I'm not sure I'd rush back to this restaurant. The food was "ok:. Nothing to rave about and i think expensive for what we got.

We ordered a banquet which was great in quantity. Most of it was lovely, however this time nothing really stood out. Service was lovely, however we felt a bit rushed.

Just wanted the duck and pancakes as advertised in the street and wasn't disappointed. Plenty for 2 and good value. The other food on the other tables looked good as well. The service was OK - they got our order wrong and over poured the beer in the glass but nothing that would stop me going back.

Dahu offers much more than Peking Duck, so the name may be slightly mis-leading. Actually duck is one of the dishes, the menu is rich and offers a few samples from many types of Chinese food, plus some local flavors (like kangaroo dishes). The location in the heart of China town is reasonably decorated. Service was fast and efficient. All... More

We had a 4 person banquet for $50.00 each, and I have never had so much food. It was divine! I would come back every trip to Melbourne!

I have been here many times with my family, and every time we go, we can't go passed ordering one or two peking ducks! I love the combination of peking duck pancakes with hoisin sauce and chopped vegetables. I also enjoy the honey prawns, delicious!! Great place for family, the service is pretty good and quick.

If you want flash you are in the wrong restaurant. Sited upstairs this is the good old honest Chinese restaurant that one can find worldwide. The menu is so extensive that it is hard to make up your mind. Our choices of half Peking duck and prawn/scallops with cashew nuts was Devine. Service was prompt friendly and efficient. Entrance way... More

Precisely what a quality Chinatown restaurant should be about. Upstairs on the corner of Russell & Lt Bourke Sts – in the very heart of Chinatown. Nothing flash or trendy or exotic. An amazing menu that went on forever – and with lots of pictures. A work of art by itself. Service that is not only competent but quick. Food... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
