Food is okay, but we found it disappointing and definitely not worth the price. I have lived in Italy and I see what the guys try to do but in my view they should cook better for this price. Also some of the waiters behave arrogant, which made us feel uncomfortable. A bit of humbleness would be good and if... More

After passing by a few times during the week in our stay in South Yarra we decided to try the restaurant. It was always busy, the restaurant is quaint and cosy and the staff are fantastic. We dined on Friday night and were not disappointed the entrée was amazing we had the beef cappacio and the burrata cheese. The mains... More

Well, this little restaurant, looks authentic, unfortunately the food is not. Our food was seriously one of the worst meals we have ever had in my life. I ordered the PASSATELLI ZUCCHINE E GAMBERI at $34.00 and was served stodgy pasta, in a thick processed sauce with 5 x small hard frozen prawns on top! The waiter, told me that... More

We went for the dinner with friends, 2 weeks ago after careful research. It looked like this is it - the best Italian restaurant. Well,... nothing to talk about. All of us went for different meal, and all of us weren't happy. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good at all. AVERAGE, or even less then that.Even deserts were tasteless. Really... More

Stopped here for a quick light lunch and we were delighted with our experience. Delicious food, wonderful service and a delightful small caffe tucked into a shop in Chapel St near Toorak Road. I can't wait to return!

We ate there on Wednesday night this week, pouring rain, usual Melbourne weather (I am from Sydney) we sat outside to watch the rain and sat underneath the heaters. There were 3 of us and of course no one could choose. We decided to order Antipasto, entrees and mains together because we all wanted to eat different dishes at the... More

Amazing! Visited with my wife.. after doing research before visiting Melbourne this restaurant was high on my list. Staff were very polite and friendly. Meals were all amazing. Deceptively filling. I had the braised beef cheeks and will say they may well be the best I've ever had.

Went for a dinner with a co-worker on the recommendation of a fellow hotel guest. Monday night so no reservation was needed and the staff was very attentive. I opted for the beef cheek with lentils and it was a sensation. An alternative would have been the lamb shank and I think that would have been great too. Probably one... More

We were staying in South Yarra and were looking for an upmarket Italian restaurant. There is no shortage of every day Italian restaurants in Melbourne but we were looking for something special. What appealed about Caffe e Cucina is that it had an established old world feel. No glass and chrome modern fit out. It felt like the restaurant you... More

Staying in Chapel Street

Neighbourhood Profile
Chapel Street
Seek and ye shall find! Prahran is a treasure hunter’s paradise of vintage stores, upscale boutiques and emporiums. Chapel Street is a one-stop shop with specialty stores selling just about everything. The famous Chapel Street Bazaar has so many curious and vintage knick-knacks that you will feel as if you're in a huge and busy museum. By contrast, at the northern end of Chapel Street, South Yarra and Windsor cater to high-end designer labels and exclusive boutiques. The community flocks to Prahran’s organic markets as a Saturday ritual, while art and film students leaf through vinyl LPs on Greville Street. The gay community also has a strong presence here. Prahran’s heritage buildings like the Reads Emporium and Prahan arcade offer a grand sense of scale and history. No matter your interest, come feel the pulse of one of Melbourne’s most loved precincts.
