We used to love going to the old Bok Choy Tang upstairs. It has moved - or more likely the name has been bought (the level of service is now vastly inferior) and it is now situated in a pokey little cafe on the ground. There is no signage indicating the place. From the outside it looks like an average... More

The Bok Choy Tang is an indulgence in Chinese food. The waiting staff were friendly and prompt but not rushed. LOVE the Peking Duck pancakes! But other dishes are just as delicious. Good wine list also.

We were greeted warmly as we entered the well appointed and visually pleasing restaurant. Service was prompt and friendly. Food selection was adequate though the vegetarian options were limited. Wine list by the glass was good. Food was freshly cooked and beautifully presented. The added novelty of visibility of the chefs cooking our food in the woks from our table... More

Had a lovely family dinner (2 children 12 yrs old ) before going to a show. Lots of steamed dumplings and tasty little bits followed by fried rice and a yummy chicken dish. Kids loved it. Food & service both great.

We were looking for somewhere to eat before our Comedy Festival show started. Told the staff we needed to be out in an hour and they were very accomodating. We all enjoyed our meals but the reason I am writing his review is because I ordered the Potato Szechuan which was sublime. I haven't had this before but was keen... More

Been to many Chinese restaurants where it is noisy and cramped but BCT is heads above them in terms of food presentation and taste (no or less MSG) We had the crispy fried barramundi(sweet n sour sauce), Mongolian beef and scallops w broccoli. All turned out well. As a global diner across Asia, my rating for food here is above... More

Not traditional at all. The most amazing dumplings and the spicy prawns.Friendly staff and excellent location and close to city attractions.

I went here for a work lunch in December and I won't be rushing back. The previous time was excellent but that was a while back. Pick up your standards guys, we need a good consistent Chinese restaurant around the Federation Square area.

Always good food and if I am going the footy they always get the meal to me quickly if requested. Have tried banquets and the mail menu never disappointed

I was searching for a good pre-theatre eating venue near the Arts Centre. I settled for Bok Choy Tang at Flinders Street Federation Square. We had dinner at Bok Choy Tang years ago and I had good memory of the restaurant. This was the first time we went there for lunch. We asked for a table for yum cha. The... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
