How lucky were we to walk in after a short stroll down Chapel Street looking for somewhere for dinner! We chose to sit at the front of the restaurant as it was really busy and well patronised at the back. I chose a dish from...More

Wandered into this place out the back what a surprise. The staff were very attentive, and the food we had for lunch was quirky but excellent. The atmosphere makes for a very enjoyable meal.

Stumbled across this place on Chapel street, was immediately greeted by staff and informed of specials, before being seated. Great service, and really nice affordable meals. Would definitely come back again.

Enjoyed a very tasty dinner with friends. Atmosphere was very eclectic. Broad range of dining choices from steak through to seafood and burgers, etc. A vast selection of craft beers on tap was a bonus. Will visit again.

Description
There's nothing illegal about Speakeasy Kitchen Bar on Chapel Street in South Yarra, but the cobbled back alley entrance from Commercial Road to the courtyard bar may indicate otherwise. The Chapel Street frontage is a welcoming admission to a light and airy space for eating and drinking the day (and night) away. The sizable terrace out the back reinforces the secretive prohibition era theme and the impressive cocktail accompanies an all-day menu which means you have every reason to stay for the long haul.
