Visited twice on a recent trip to Melbourne. Tried a Bora Bora which was a coconutty delight. also the black Forrest after others recommend on here & a beautiful Millefeuille. We have added Laurent as a must visit on our next holiday across the ditch.

We called in at 4:30 (Easter Sunday, they were closing at 5pm), and service, staff and afternoon tea could not have been nicer. Served quickly at the counter and had a few items explained to us before we made our choices. We were not rushed at all. Our pastries were flaky and fresh, the coffee was excellent and although it... Very expensive for the quality of this food. This is a chain with mass produced and fairly ordinary cakes.

The croissant was light and fresh; however, it wasn't nice to eat as it was still chilled from being in the refrigerated bay marie: a few seconds on the bench or in the oven to thaw it out would have helped. The coffee comes from a different section of the shop and so didn't arrive with the food. The flavour... More

I wanted to love this place because I love cake and haven't found great offerings in the CBD area yet. The Castel cake sounded killer- hazelnut meringue, nougatine and hazelnut cream. It also looked amazing with layers if goodness. The first bite was disappointingly dry, and it sadly didn't get better towards tue middle of the cake. It needed more... More

I love Laurent bakery in Melbourne. The cakes aren’t too overpoweringly sweet, the savoury pastries are beautiful to the taste pallet. All in all I use Laurent as a staple bakery to visit whenever I am in Melbourne. It’s lovely décor and seating reminds me of a little bit of Paris in Melbourne.

With the overwhelming choice of places to buy coffee in the CBD, THIS place serves consistently excellent coffee. And there's always something to have with it.

Our daughter lives in Ivanhoe so we popped in. Last year Laurent Ivanhoe was closed for transformations ! We wanted to see the result.... They did a good job ! The almond croissant and the latte were as nice as usual....

Thank Hugo H

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
