Stayed 2 nights at The Westin Melbourne and came here for dinner twice during my stay and I found that the meal was mediocre. The all the meal that we have ordered was small and bland. There was no table cloth for fine dining price tag but luckily we were sat at the corner left in the restaurant so my... More

we arrived all 9 of us at 7.00 as I had arranged , only problem was we were a day early that presented no issue to the friendly staff who, even though the restaurant was quite full arranged a table and we were seated within 5 minutes. the staff were very attentive and the drinks were always kept up to... We visited while staying at The Westin but will return even when not staying at the Hotel. The A La Carte menu provided more than sufficient choice and were delightfully displayed. The were a good range of entrees and the scallops were delicious. We had eye fillet which melted in the mouth and was perfectly done and the sides were... More

Ordered the duck and was bitterly disappointed. Unfortunately I would not recommend dining at this hotel.

A revisit to Allegro and were pleasantly surprised. The menu has been revamped and is very interesting. The wine list is also better but the waiters need more instruction on how to pour!A good restaurant that has improved.

We ate here on a very quiet weekday so there were only two other groups dining. The service is wonderful without being obsequious. This is fine dining with an informal twist (no need to worry about 'glamming up'). The food was beautiful. The Skull island tiger prawns were delicious as was the Jamon (according to my husband). The mains of... More

Hotel restaurants can be a bit hit and miss. Often the food and service are off or the room that needs to suit both massive buffet breakfasts try to create intimate cozy dinners without much success Really happy that Allegro is doing the best they can in all fronts Food- fresh, tasty, creative and no sign of lazy chefs using... Read about the express lunch in the newspaper the other day and decided to try it while in the CBD.For $39.5 for 2 courses or $52 for 3 courses with a glass of wine, it was very good value. Wanted 3 dishes on the menu, but stomach said two would be enough!! So decided on snapper for main and lemon... More

Dinner for 3 Sunday night was very enjoyable. Waitstaff were attentive and friendly. Prawns with green garlic were nice although very garlicy!! Carpaccio was flavoursome & well presented. Whole snapper was nicely cooked and the eye fillet steaks were great! Fries were a tad salty. Atmosphere quiet and relaxing. Great choice!

Second time here and found that a new menu has been implemented. Came here for a business lunch and really enjoyed the new menu. Especially the twist on the deserts and we ordered the "cheese board" desert. Looked like a cheese platter but was actually a desert....well done. My only disappointment was the seats near the window were uncomfortable. The... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
