Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I came here with the family for a special breakfast. The cafe has an asian fusion menu, with great twists on traditional fare. I had the chilli omelette with smoked fish and chilli sauce and my wife had the mushrooms. The servings are a good size and the coffee is also good. The staff are great and attentive without being intrusive.

I’m not sure if what we ate was odd, or if it’s just a culture thing being from the U.S., but I guarantee you I will not find scrambled eggs with sweet chili and octopus doused in what looked like olive oil anywhere I visit regularly. It was good, but about half way through my taste buds were not happy anymore and didn’t want it.
My wife had some absolutely delicious chocolate French toast with peanut butter ice cream. Another odd breakfast item, but absolutely fantastic.
They had no diet colas, so I had to drink water. My wife had coffee. I didn’t think the pricing was too bad.

They have great coffee always nice and smooth they were our regular morning coffee shop. The teriyaki mushrooms were full of flavour with just a nice teriyaki taste which did not overwhelm the mushrooms and yes they cater for both gluten free and Celiacs. The staff are super friendly and it's popular so some times you have to wait for a table.

So my husband and I were on a trip to Australia from the USA. Our hotel was nearby and we were hungry so we stopped in. There was a 40 minute wait, which is ok if the food is good. This was our first visit. Anyway, my husband is very willing to try new things and he loves seafood. He’ll eat most things. He ordered the pan-fried barramundi. No words can explain how terrible it was!! Not only did it smell horrendous, but the taste made him vomit! He has a very strong stomach so this was unusual. We informed the waitress, and she told us that there were no refunds, and if he didn’t like it he could order and pay for something else. I complained to a different waitress and she told us she would inform the manager, but after waiting over 30 minutes, no one else ever came to the table. This dish smelled like garbage that someone scraped from the bottom of a trash can that had sat in the heat for several days! It was nauseating!! I gave him my plate as I wasn’t thrilled with it either. He ate some but couldn’t help being nauseous. I ordered the French toast and it was very good! I am writing this poor review because we were told we were not entitled to a refund. We had to pay for the rotten fish plus an extra meal. This is outrageous!! Shame on you for serving rotten food and not making it right!! I encouraged him to try a barramundi dish at another restaurant (Dundee’s) in Cairns, and it was absolutely delicious! If you visit this cafe, DO NOT order the fish!

My wife and I started our culinary experience of Melbourne in the superb little cafe in a side street near our hotel. The food, the coffee and the service was outstanding. My wife believes the chocolate and cheese French toast done with condensed milk should only be on a menu in heaven - but there it was in Operator 25!

We called by for lunch and were a little daunted by the crowds inside, so we asked for a table on the street. We had an umbrella to give us some shelter. The building is historic and housed the first telephone exchange in Melbourne, staffed with women operators. The food was pricey, but looked interesting. We chose a Teriyaki Mushroom dish (on toast) and the thoughtfully brought us extra cutlery and a plate with the water bottle. they even brought us additional water when we finished the first carafe. The food was excellent with a rich sauce.

We enjoyed a delicious and unique breakfast here! The service was good, fast and friendly. The food was unique but delicious, we had char sui Benedict and smashed avocado with yuzu and edamame. Coffee was also pretty good. I would eat here again if I was in Melbourne.

Service and dining space great! I am a tea drinker and found the tea brand and tea selection very good.
Interesting food selection. My first time having Ube Lava cake, or indeed ube - pretty presentation and ooooey gooooey centre (as it is meant to be) and on par in appearance with ube lava cakes I found on the internet (so purple!!).
A subsequent visit I had avo on toast.
A solo diner, I was at a share table where there was signage to block the seat next to me. Good attention to Covid dining requirement. I also noticed that people ordering take away were practising distancing.
Positive visits. Thank you.

First impressions were excellent... The cafe is well decorated, great atmosphere and impeccably clean. Service was instant, and very friendly with each interaction by different staff members. Finally, the food was great!! My coffee was very quick and breakfast was brought out soon after, very short wait. No complaints at all.
Coffee was maybe a little mild by my standards, but it was made will and tasted great. Definitely recommended!!

This authentic coffee shop is open from 7am on weekdays. The atmosphere of the shop inside the brick building is wonderful! There are tables both inside and outside. It's perfect for breakfast, brunch, and lunch! They have a wide variety of menu items, from light toast to pancakes, omelets, and burgers. They offer espresso coffee and drip coffee, and some unique menu items that you won't find at other stores. Matcha latte and roasted green tea latte seem to be popular as well.

We had the Chilli Omelette and Eggs Benedict with pork . The flavours were overpowering and both dishes were lacking. After reading fabulous reviews we were really disappointed. Coffee was decent and service was okay. Whilst we didn't mind sharing a table we thought in the time of covid you would at least be asked first if strangers can be sat right next to you.

Get the Ube waffles to share or just for yourself. Tastes like a pretty standard waffle, but the fruits and sauce made this just heaven!! Also had the corn fritters and my husband had the soft shell crab omelette. Recommend going here for a great breakfast or lunch!

Smoothie bowl mango oats cereal was too sweet . Not enjoyable . Too much sugar in it.
Two large round tables should be replaced with tables for 2.
Coffee and hot chocolate not hot enough for us .

We enjoyed a delish breakfast here. I had the traditional eggs Benedict which was good. My friend had the pancakes. The service was a little slow but perhaps that was more down to the busy time of day we choose to eat here at.

Really yummy coffee and breakfast. We had chia pudding, french toast and sourdough with jam and butter. Our kids loved it and so did we. If you are looking for quality coffee and food with a twist definitely give this place a go!

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
