Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A well travelled couple in our ‘50’s, we like to eat well and don’t care about the hype of hip places with long waits. This place is near a regular hotel of ours and we’ve had breakfast a few times. This visit, two days in...a row. The breakfast sampling platter is so so good, that I over ate and wasn’t hungry again until 4pm! Every element was beautifully presented and mouthwatering! We lined up for 20 mins on first day, then booked online for second day. Service is first class and everyone is treated the same. All ages too. Husband declared the Bircher the absolute best he’s ever had, and we have travelled a lot! Even if our hotel is different next time, I will cross Melbourne to go here. The pastries are first class too! Oh and the ambiance is perfect. Busy without feeling crowded, classic, clean. It just ticks all of my boxes. So now I’m on a mission to try and replicate the Bircher at home, until we return!More

Lovely breakfast. I had the breakfast board which was great if you can’t choose from the varied menu and want a bit of everything.

We’ve had this restaurant on our list for a while but haven’t wanted to wait outside. Today we took the chance. We came about 11.30am on a Sunday. Just a 5 minute wait really and we’re seated promptly and professionally. It became quickly apparent that...the head waiter is all over turning guests over quickly without making people feel rushed or unwelcome. Our coffees came out almost instantly and we didn’t have to wait long for our Spanish eggs which we both really enjoyed. Tables are super close together but we didn’t feel confined. We will be back tomorrow for a croissant for our road trip breakfast.More

We met family there for a lazy Sunday breakfast. I picked the location based on reviews. I ordered the savoury ricotta pancakes & I was surprised, in a good way, although I didn't love the (additional) ricotta on the top...no biggie I just ate around...it! I would describe service as "very attentive" with staff topping up our water etc even before we knew we needed to be topped up! Would recommend a visit.More

Called in for Morning Tea. Seated promptly. Nice selection of pastry and tarts. Coffee very good. Good service, could be a little noisy if full.

We arrived at the Quincy Hotel and went next door to this eatery for lunch. It was busy and we waited outside to be seated for 5 minutes. So worth the wait. The food was delivered quickly, the service polite and helpful as we made...small alterations to the dishes to suit dietary requirements. We had ricotta pancakes, and chorizo bagels, and a BLT to take away for one of us not feeling up to eating out. The pancakes were tasty with an array of delicious toppings, bagels fresh and delicious. The chilli jam particularly good. Juice, tea and coffee quick and good quality. We will try and find time to come back and taste more of the menu. Well done Grainstore!More

Look the food was ok, I’ll give it that. However we walked into a restaurant that was a quarter full and were then seated at the worst table in the place sandwiched between the kitchen and a cutlery drawer (despite there being numerous empty 2...seater tables scattered around the room). Our food was delivered quickly and was not bad. The meals are however quite expensive by Melbourne standards. Unfortunately our waitress was also coughing (a lot) including while adjacent to us (and I mask). I’m sure other people will have a good experience, we didn’t.More

Falafel dish is a must must try. Haven’t had better cauliflower and the pea falafel is very unique! But the cauliflower, of the millions we have had, surprised how one can still taste something new :)

As we walked in to the grain store after a 12 hour shift, we were not greeted with a friendly face but a passive aggressive server. All other staff were great including the baristas and the lovely waitress. The older server who took our order...was very rude and condescending. She even said as I quote “make up your mind we don’t have all day” as I was pondering on what food to purchase. She also made the assumption my male friend was going to pay for me which made the situation awkward. To top it all off, she then asked if she could squish my two croissants into the same box. Not only would this squish them but one was a breakfast croissant and the other was dessert. All in all not happy and never coming back. Don’t come here if you want good energy and friendly service. Thanks.More

Went up and down streets to find this based on the Trip Adviser rating, wasn’t worth the effort. Breakfast Menu was unappealing to me, but was able to order off menu, saved me from leaving without eating. If you don’t like coffee not the store...for you, extremely strong coffee smell on entry.More
