The Grain Store was very busy and packed for Saturday brunch. We had booked, but there seemed to be a quick table turnover for drop ins. The food came quickly with a smile. My husband had to send the coffee back as he said it...had a burnt, bitter taste. The waiter said they were trying new types of beans. All of our dishes were very tasty and had ample servings. The menu was very interesting and creative. Not just the usual fare. Love to come back when again in Melbourne.More

Came here for brunch. Very quiet due to covid but I still managed to have a waitress seat a patron literally right next to me when there were plenty of other tables away from me. The next issue was the menu. Nothing jumped out at...me. I wanted an eggs benedict but they only had a lobster benedict for a very high price. Fair enough for lobster I suppose but I wanted a classic brunch dish. I needed up having a cured salmon scrambled egg dish. I would never have usually chosen this, but it was most excellent. The fresh juice was also good.More

I hadn't been to Grain Store for a few years so it was nice to go back. It has a relaxed and bright interior and it wasn't as busy as I'd expected for a weekend. It was convenient being able to book, even at short...notice and for a small group. Service was friendly and prompt and they still offer an interesting array of breakfast dishes. Everyone enjoyed their food, the breakfast board definitely the most popular and pleasing option. My main issue (and most likely reason not to go back) was the array of charges to sting you on the way out. First charge, card surcharge - ok I get it. Second charge, a service charge that's pretty hefty (from memory 12% on weekends and 18% on public holidays). Then to be prompted for a tip on the EFTPOS terminal. Outside of fine dining I hadn't seen casual eateries prompt for a tip. All these additional charges add up to leave a bad taste, I'd rather an extra dollar on two on each main dish and abolish these extras. So as a solid breakfast/lunch cafe, definitely, it's just a shame these extra fees and charges are the last thing you remember on the way out.More

It is such a pleasure to go out for breakfast and be just so delighted to see so much effort go into a menu, it is not your standard bacon eggs, rather one where someone has made a real effort to create something different, this...is one of the most imaginative menus I’ve seen, and the food did not disappoint rather it was as good as it ever gets. Definitely coming back here again.More

visited here for breakfast on the recommendation of our hotel. The food was really lovely. I had the asparagus and haloumi omelette which was light and very tasty. The staff were efficient but not intrusive. We were surprised to have a 12% surcharge added to...the bill as it was a weekend. While we understand that staff are paid penalty rates I would have expected that most places have increased patronage on weekends which would cover this cost. This charge is noted on the menu but on the back page with the drinks in very small writing. I didn't see it on the day but checked the menu online.More

Coffee and food was great as expected (see pictures). They now have expanded outdoor seating capacity. Really enjoyed my brunch there. Definitely worth a try!

We stopped here for brunch last weekend on Melbourne, on recommendation from the apartment concierge. This did not disappoint. Lovely, friendly vibe on entering the busy cafe, menu & water were given immediately on arrival at our table. The menu is lively and fresh. The...corn frittas were yummy, and coffee great!More
