Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This has become our new go-to place for coffee and sweets. In a city filled with great cafes, Patricia stands out for their fantastic roasts and delicious caneles, all backed by great service. It's cleverly hidden in an alleyway, so follow the queue of people to find the entrance. There's standing-room only in the narrow cafe, but you're welcome to sit on an empty milk crate outside when the weather permits.

We tried latte in oatmilk, and it was rich and perfectly brewed. The menu offers a good variety of espresso-based drinks, teas, etc.. A small joint but great ambience with light colour and cozy setup. Bit of more seating would be nice but it is for city goers on the move. Great experience for a quick cuppa.

For those looking for good coffee as well as good service in a cool location I highly recommend this place. I went there with some friends and we literally had the most amazing coffee ever. Also, the staff were really nice and friendly, specially Liam who did an amazing job looking after us. A 10/10 experience.

The back alley was terribly dirty. Disgusting to have your coffee surrounded by bins and dirty floors. If they want to provide the back alley vibe to the experience, they should make sure the site is clean. No restaurant or food provider could operate under these conditions.

Looked this place out after hearing a rave review, and we weren’t disappointed. Great coffee, friendly barista, and fun low-key laneway milk crate experience currently on offer due to COVID-19 restrictions. Small but tasty array of sweet morning tea items too…

Google maps got me close, but the crowd was the giveaway. The entrance would otherwise be hidden from the street. The Wednesday mid-morning group of locals seemed happy to wait in the alley for their coffee, and some even stayed to chat and drink. The seating area was packed, but we didn't have to wait very long before a friendly staff member brought us our drinks and a glass of Soda water. As a coffee snob I was very pleased. My double Colombian espresso was thick, rich and had an interesting, slightly fruity acidic finish. My partner's soy latte was, in her words, delicious. I can see why the locals drink here. I hope to be back soon.

A deservedly popular place to visit for excellent coffee. They took pride in every cup of coffee served, eager to confirm that the brew was to our liking after it was consumed. It was. The barista who served us was unpretentious, friendly, and took the time to tailor make the coffee order to our exact specifications. The small peanut butter and chocolate cookie made the coffee even more enjoyable.

We saw this place rated well in the CBD and happy to report the coffee was really good, we both had ice latte's. The staff were happy to chat with a few giggles in the main cafe overhearing some of our lame banter.. it was nice.. sometimes cafe's in Melbs can be a bit cool for me, so I appreciate the hospo. Try the water, bizarrely bubbly, but not.

We walked out of our way to get a coffee from here in what is described by many as the best coffee in Melbourne. Well to be honest I simply cant understand what all the hype is about, unless I missed something, we had better coffee from many of the small cafes along the laneways during our stay. Is it worth the wait, standing around? Im not sure, wasnt the wosre but certainly wasnt the best. Temperature was spot on but taste wasn't quite there.

The best coffee I ever had. So different from anything else! Absolutely love the concept of the café, very social as people stand outside and chat while waiting for the coffee. Nicest waiters ever. Everyone is in a super good mood and so sweet! Would always come back.

Stayed right across the street and came by for takeaway flat white and latte. Friendly staff and nice breakfast morning vibes. Not much of a coffee drinker myself, but is this the world's best coffee? Don't know about that. It's not bad. Don't get me wrong. But Melbourne has good coffee everywhere. So I wouldn't really go pit of the way just for this.

Best Coffee Bar and breakfast pastries in Melbourne. Most friendly staff...allow you to ask questions to get your coffee or tea perfect...willing to chat. Ask for water and you get free bubbly water just like fancy European coffee bars. The prices for coffee, tea, and pastries are very reasonable because of sales volume. Although it's a local favorite coffee bar, the line moves quickly because of the numerous staff helping customers. Our cruise ship the, Coral Princess, docked this morning and our first stop at 8am was Patricia Coffee Bar located at Little Bourke Street at Little William Street. In the USA, I'd call it a hole-in-the-wall coffee roaster with a loyal local following and lots of out-of-town visitors...like ourselves!

Best coffee in Melbourne. Consistently good white coffee and great service. They offer sparkling water as you order and super quick despite the always huge queue

The staff is so kind and excellent at their job! Nice cakes and very good coffe. I liked the concept that they didn’t have any seating places, makes you feel like you are in a coffe bar!

Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
