This cafe is a great venue, but it is slightly upmarket and so are the prices - however, casual attire is fine. The quality of the food is very good though, and there is a licensed bar. This cafe is very convenient for when visiting...the ACMI or just needing a place to stop for refreshments while in the city centre. A variety of seating options is available, including sofas and lounges with coffee tables, booths, and regular tables and chairs. I vaguely remember noticing that some electronic devices had been installed on the wall in the booths the last time I was there, but I can't remember if these were headphones or screens, or both. I think they might have been there to promote or access some of the exhibition content on offer at the ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image).More

A pleasant cafe and bar with comfortable seating, pleasant staff and a great spot for people watching on Federation Square; the wall facing Federation Square is made of glass!

We sat outside for brunch after the walk of the Mothers Day Classic so we built up an appetite. Our brunches consisted of pizza, poached eggs with avocado and thick bacon, a large serve of scramble eggs on sour dough bread. They even offered Gluten free...bread. We received our meals promptly.More

Apart of the Australian Center for the Moving Image (ACMI) is a little restaurant and bar in the Federation Square Esplanade. The big windowed facade gives a lot of ambient light that adds to the family friendly atmosphere. This place is a good place to...kick back with a coworker and have a little to drink. To bad that it is closing down soon. A lovely worker and new bar-person served us in the modern styled bar area. They welcomed us and even when she was being trained, she hit all the right notes for customer service. The food came out fairly quickly, and it looked impressive but also a little strange. I never seen a cut of bacon so thick; but besides the extremely succulent melt in your mouth wagyu, i think the thick cut is the center piece of the burger. Chips were unevenly cooked, some were crispy and fluffy and some were like as if they werent cooked at all. Overall, it was a good experience but the chips let me down. We've visited this venue for a quick pre-film snack and wine before and been happy with it. Today though we ate a meal and were VERY impressed. My companion had the hot corned beef with assorted veg while I had a vegan dish of a...roast pumpkin wedge with cauliflower hummus and grain/lentil/veg salad topped with deep-fried kale chips. Both dishes were easy on the eye, tastebuds, pocket and brought quickly to us by a friendly waiter. Loved it!More

Convenient cafe in Federation Square, central Melbourne. I enjoyed my endive salad and beer but the other members of the party were less pleased with their Soup of the Day and Trio of Dips. Service and ambience OK, and good to get out of the...baking heat outside.More

My central Melbourne place to catchup with friends for a great coffee, wine and lunch. I often have the soup with cheesy toast, it's yum. Love the relaxed atmosphere, lounge seating and booths. The food and cakes are good and not expensive, and they regularly...have a happy hour. Access through sliding doors can be made via ACCMI. **Please bring back the eggplant chips!More

In Melbourne and looking for a pre-theatre meal and found the ideal spot at the ACMI Cafe. It was stinking hot outside and the venue was pleasantly cool; off to a great start. Meal and drink orders are place and paid for at the bar...and then its table service. Staff are friendly and service is quick. I had the Ploughmans; which was excellent and the girls the beer battered fish and chips, also well remarked,More
