2nd long business trip to Melbourne so went looking to try somewhere new for Sunday breakfast. This was a nice spot. Only 10AM so very quiet but nice and gave me a chance to look at what must be a selection of over 100 cakes to choose from. Food other than cakes is somewhat limited, but toasted sandwiches are wonderful.... More

NO where as good as they were years ago. I ordered two large Greek coffees and given what I paid I am sure I paid for 2 LARGE and yet received 2 small and luke warm Greek coffees. As to their cakes, forget it

Ordered a chocolate pistachio baklava and chocolate sponge. Really could not eat either of them. Sponge cake was terribly dry and tasteless. Cream was not good at all. Chocolate coating on baklava was of poor quality quality. Baklava was dry and tasted very stale. Very disappointing considering it all looked so good in the window.

I suggest the chocolate walnut slice, which was solid chocolate with walnuts. There is a great choice which will suit everyone's taste.

We stop by this place where we can it is much better than the more popular place next door, coffee and cakes are always great especially late at night. Basic Lamenex tables but these add to the charm

And some that is dipped in chocolate as well! Loads of cakes, Greek and 'Australian' treats (Vanilla slice anyone?). A pot of tea and a cake was great, and to get something special to take home.

Had two different types of cakes. One with cream and one without. Both were dreadful. Dry and this was covered up with copious of high fructose sugar syrup. Waste and abuse of ingredients.Highly disappointed and will never patronise.

Worth a visit if like me you love cake! Lots and lots to choose from to eat in or take away. We ate in with a coffee and were able to see just how popular this place is, they were never without a customer!

I love baklava but to be honest I've had better baklava nearly every where else! Did not taste fresh to me. We were taken in by the beautiful window display but ended up a little disappointed :(

This sweet shop in Lonsdale Street is sure to please with its wide range of international sweets. The window entices you into the store with its attractive visual display. They pack the sweets in portable little boxes that ensure that they stay in one piece. The Greek sweets of Kourabiethes, Koulouria and Baklava are hard to walk past but there are... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
