Have been wanting to go here for ages and during a global pandemic, we were happy they were open for lunch. I must say that when I saw how close the tables were, I wanted to leave. No social distancing here - the opposite, in...fact, the tables were so close together! Food was great.. Drinks expensive (wine by the glass was the most I’ve paid for a pretty average chardonnay) and service staff did the best they could during staff shortages.More

Because this restaurant is so popular you find yourself in a very tight restaurant. No social distancing! Service was good, food very tasty but it was not a great experience . Too crowded!

The food was great . But our waiter didn’t write down the order ,said he didn’t need too ! . So everything came out wrong. After a change of waiter deserts came out as ordered. A-little to noisy but it was full . Less busier...time would be much nicerMore

We have dined at this restaurant several times and the food is delicious. What let’s it down it the unacceptable wait times for meals with lengthy delays between courses. We ordered three mains to share with the last main arriving one and a half hours...after ordering. Totally unacceptable. The mains we shared included wavy beef pad seuw, roasted pork and kingfish cerviche. Flavours are amazing but a common theme in the reviews is that service lets it down.More

I’ve been to Chin Chin a few times and was so looking forward to going back (first time since pre 2020). Unfortunately this time it was disappointing. The music was so loud we had to shout to hear each other. The waiter wasn’t very friendly...or helpful. A couple of the dishes were disappointing - the crispy Barramundi was so overcooked and dry it was virtually inedible, the pork was also really dry, the serving of squid was very small for the price and also pretty underwhelming in taste. For the price you’d get better value elsewhere. Despite spending $280 for 2 adults and 2 kids, the kids were still hungry afterwards . Wouldn’t be rushing back.More

I have been looking forward to visiting Chin Chin for many years after great reviews from friends. It’s very rare I will write a review that is this unfavourable so to say I was disappointed is an understatement, I also don’t write this lightly as...I know the hospitality industry has suffered with conditions lately, however a certain level of service and quality is still expected. The restaurant was quite full so we were very excited and happy to be sat at the bar - as were many others. We ordered drinks and elected to have the Chefs Feed Me experience. Despite there being an abundance of management and staff it was as though we were forgotten after our first drinks order was taken and our first round of food arrived. The first few dishes were ok, pleasant enough although a little spicy considering we had asked for medium spice level when asked by the waitress what our preference was - a minor hiccup really. We then waited over half an hour for our plates to be cleared, wine and cocktail glasses were empty for that whole time as well - several staff noticed this and ignored it. Cutlery was taken away a number of times and not replaced. Water was not replenished until we requested it. When asked if we had received our curry yet (that was promised an hour prior) we explained that no, we had not seen the curry and that we were feeling a little forgotten. After our next lot of dishes we had to request new plates and cutlery which was then unceremoniously dumped in front of my husband. When asked if we had enjoyed our last dish, we said we had not (it was the worst version of pad Thai I’ve ever had), she offered us dessert, we declined and said we’ll just leave it there. The bill was then bought to our seats without a word, along with the eftpos machine. Management (all three or four that we had seen all night) had mysteriously all disappeared. An unpleasant experience all round to be honest.More

The food is delicious and is worthy of 5 stars but it is let down by the service experience. Staff rushed and didn’t get our orders right. We didn’t receive all our dishes yet were charged for them. We asked for extra rice on 4...different occasions but never received 🤷‍♂️.More

We’d been recommended Chin Chin by family so decided to have a kid free lunch over Christmas. Slightly disappointed with the ambience, would be much more enjoyable if people weren’t so packed in, almost shoulder to shoulder with the people beside you and the music...volume is ridiculous, we had to yell at each other. We ordered the pork belly vermicelli noodles and beef massaman curry and both were delicious. The roti bread was quite dry and not flakey. Cocktails are an absolute rip off, $21 for the smallest glass I’ve ever seen, literally 3 mouthfuls and it was gone. The $2 donation to charity is sneaky also, at least give people the option at time of paying their bill whether they want to donate or not, not put on their bill regardless then remove it upon querying. Overall, the food was nice, expensive for what you receive and wouldn’t be rushing back in a hurry.More

This place gets pretty busy so always make a booking. There is outdoor and indoor seating, we were seated indoors but I would have preferred outdoors in hindsight because the music was so loud inside we had to yell at each other to be heard....We ordered drinks and food at the same time. Only 1 of the drinks arrived and the food arrived shortly after. I waited and waited for my drink, no sight. Finally halfway through my meal, we had to ask someone and they brought it immediately. So they forgot? The food itself was delicious and big servings, which you expect for the price. Finally the bill arrives and they charged us for a meal that we had ordered but never came! We informed the server and she immediately took it off our bill. Didn't even question it! We could have lied? Anyway, food is delicious enough to return but the service experience makes me hesitate.More

We have been to Chin Chin in Sydney and Melbourne heaps and it's really inconsistent. This time around rushed and sloppy - sprouts over fried and drenched in some green mix that was dumped on top. The lettuce in our starter was in a pool...of water on the plate. The girl serving, had us seated, ordered and then given our bill all within 40mins. She turned up 5mins after with the portable card machine to get us out of her section. It would have been nice to order something else as I chose not to eat one of our dishes. Have to note, the person I was dining with ate the sprouts.More

Hi, Chin Chin offers many "non shellfish" options, however I do believe these dishes are prepared in the same kitchen. I would tell the waiter/manager on duty he/she us deathly allergic so that they may inform the chefs... More
