Went for a quick bite on my way home. Inside it appears half the decor has been done but with some cheap finishes such as the furniture. Was a bit dubious when i ordered the chicken burger however to my surprise it was pretty good. However the beer tasted pretty funny. Not sure if the taps pipes need a clean... More

The outdoor area DOES get busy but they have heaters for winter. The beer is cheap, the wine is $8 for a BIG glass.. i mean BIG glass. or $20 for a bottle. Great student prices.. the food is ok. I rarely come here to eat but they have a varied menu

This place is busy because it is very reasonably priced. Cheap jugs of beer ($12), cheap coffee's ($2.50 all day). So don't expect anything more but go there for the price. Outdoor seating overlooking busy Elizabeth St (good to people watch) and some more in Little Lonsdale (this place sits on the corner). Check it out, the glasses may not... More

Came here this afternoon to grab a couple of drinks with a friend; ordered a jug of beer, got through half a glass (dirty jug and glass I might add) each then decided to leave. Something doesn't taste right with the beer, don't know if it's due to dirty taps, we were happy to cut our losses and leave close... More

It's a good place to hang out with friends at the epicentre of the city, at the corner of Melbourne Central. The food is also quite good, but wouldn't say exceptional. The sweet chilli and sour cream wedges are pretty cool though :D

We stopped in here for a few drinks on our last night in Melbourne. the drinks for happy hour/s till 11pm are cheap and not bad choices. They have jugs of beer, house wine and spirits all on special. The atmosphere is loud and friendly which is perfect when you have kids. There is plenty of seating inside and out.

Well this is probably the place where you can get a juggie for 10! House pours are great too! Food portion is huge and definitely worth it! Friendly staff, especially Michelle! Her smile sure brighten up the place!

If you're looking for a no-thrills bar with super cheap drink prices, this is the place to go. We ended up here at a couple points during our stay in Melbourne, just to grab a cheap mid-afternoon drink. Atmosphere isn't great - the place is a bit tired and basic - but the prices are unbeatable, with the longest happy... More

We visited on a Sunday night, and it was pretty busy - presume this was due to the incredibly generous & long happy hours (2 to 9pm; $10 for a jug of Boags). Food was less impressive but OK - $13 for a big chicken parma, $10 for a veggie burger (the latter not tasting so good - too much... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
