Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Came in for a late Saturday brunch, generally happy with the food but quality control issue with Salmon hurt overall experience. Service decent but not exceptional. Corned beef hash signature also not on the menu, would wait until dish comes back before considering returning. French toast tiramisu - 5/5. Ideal blend of Tiramisu, toast, and nuts, delicious without being overly heavy. Barramundi - 4/5. Good filling portions, taste was solid but nothing spectacular Breakfast Board - 3.5/5. Would be 4.5 but smoked salmon had many bones which pricked my mouth. Was informed by staff the meat is outsourced and not their own, comped our coffee but not this dish, which feels like a cop-out.

One of our all time favorite for brunch and decided to try this place after 6 years. Food and service was still very good, though business has somewhat slowed down a bit and no longer u can spot a line outside the cafe. Prices still reasonable. Nice vibe, good service and good food.

Coffee was excellent, the food was delicious and the service friendly and efficient. The decor is quite interesting and the outside eating area literally streetfront (as it is on the street). Prices were on par for a high quality cafe and the food and beverages did not disappoint. Highly recommended for a special breakfast.

This place has a lovely vibe - a real good feel and ambience and that follows through to the quality of food and beverages. Had poached eggs (you should have seen the colour of the yokes with lovely flavoursome bacon. Service was friendly and understanding of my Wife's request for Gluten Free. As it turned out the Gluten free toast was excellent and waitress said it was Precinct bread. Highly recommend.

Great view and atmosphere in the cafe and all the wait staffs are more than happy to recommend you which dish to try based on your preference. We tried their Braised lamb shoulder with smoked eggplant, whipped chèvre, Moghrabieh couscous, almonds, pickled red onions & salt, and their Brown rice bowl with field mushrooms, Swiss chard, leek, peppers, zucchini, broccolini, hazelnuts, coriander, and cherry tomato salsa. To which both were amazing. But I think it'd be good to try their braised lamb dish if you're starving. It might be a struggle to finish the food if you aren't that hungry. On my 2nd visit with another friend, I ordered seafood linguini while she ordered breakfast board. I'd say their pasta is a must-try dish if you're going there for brunch around 12 pm and starving. It smells and tastes amazing and it fills you up just right.

Electric atmosphere, fast service from staff only too ready to help, food & drink to die for, & enough space for my self-propelled manual wheelchair. Ordered ‘House made gnocchi with mixed mushroom, whipped ricotta, and pangrattato’ with an iced coffee. Don’t usually eat mushrooms by choice but thought they might be nice with gnocchi. They were absolutely delicious, & I don’t say lightly that the plump, light, fluffy gnocchi were the best I’ve ever eaten EVEN after eating gnocchi Italy. Iced coffee was strong & freezing cold - exactly how it should be. Absolutely spell-bound by what was my first but will definitely not be my last visit to Auction Rooms.

Auction Rooms has it all - a cool location in North Melbourne, a lovely old building, good food, good coffee and great service. Despite turning up without a booking on a Saturday we were quickly found a seat - like the Tardis this place is much bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. There was a good range of food choices, or, if not dining in, a good selection of pastries at the counter. Food came out quick, and the service was perfect, and they had no trouble dealing with a request for gluten-free.

I enjoyed lunch at the Auction Rooms for the first time this weekend. The service was excellent as was the food. I highly recommend the King Prawn and Spanner Crab linguine. The Glowing Green fresh pressed juice (pineapple, apple, mint, celery, kale, ginger, and lemon) was also delicious.

We were really keen to come try the Auction Rooms being in the area. Walked in though one of the doors and multiple wait staff walked past us. We looked around to work out how it worked and didn't see anyone. Multiple wait staff avoided eye contact. We walked to a table and started to sit down and one came up to us saying 'did you just cut the line' or something like that, and we were confused and he said there was a line, we started walking towards it and he goes 'back of the line'. It was the rudest most surprising thing I've ever experienced at a venue, and we were abit shaken and thought, let's go elsewhere. They guy was tall with dark hair and so so rude and entitled and we hadnt even seen a line because there were two doors. There was a small cue and we must've passed like 10 free tables...it didn't make sense

Thank you for your detailed review. We sincerely apologize that you were on the back end of this error. We have a cue where customers wait to get served a table, however, this was not communicated effectively to you. The individual you spoke of has since resigned. Should we have another chance to serve you, we will definitely make amends and give you the service we are best known for. Apologies once again Jenny

Light and airy inside, this cafe has plenty of space. My St Ali coffee was excellent and the staff brought me water as soon as I sat down, without my having to ask for it. My toasted sandwich was OK, but not fancy at the price.

Lovely place for late breakfast. We had breakfast both new years eve morning and day morning. Everything we had was super good. Also service was nice! I recomment downloading an app, so you can join the waiting list already at home.

Sunny morning. Lovely service. Great coffee. Good breakfast… unfortunately all the above was affected when some obnoxious idiot decided he couldn’t possibly enjoy an outing without cujo his slobbering monster companion. Selfish + stupid!

The coffee here is as good as it gets. Their menu features a nice range of breakfast favorites from delicious scrambled eggs to black rice pudding. Me and my friend had a nice breakfast here.
