Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Been here a few times now and enjoyed this hip, cosy cafe. Tucked away in one of Melbourne's laneways, this place offers a warm atmosphere with a cool, rustic vibe. I usually order an almond latte or double espresso, both of which are decent here, though a little weaker than my usual liking. I also ordered the dragonfruit bowl which I really enjoyed - the meal looks delicious and tastes even better, is well proportioned, reasonably priced, and good value for money. Only downside was that the service could've been a bit better. Staff was a little too relaxed and it took some time before someone came to take our order even though it wasn't busy. Still, the waiter was very friendly, helpful, and served us with a smile. Overall, this tucked-away cafe offers a pleasant experience - suits all occasions, be it a catch up with friends, or a solo outing.

We had planned to come for brunch but ended up coming later in the day. Looking at the brunch menu, it seemed quite limited compared to other options so I’m glad we had sandwiches instead. They were really good. We tried 3 different sandwiches - the pastrami, bolognese and pork. All we’re delicious. Coffee was also excellent. The cafe was really busy on the day we went so we put our name on the list outside and waited around 20 minutes. We agreed one of the larger tables inside. Service seemed pretty rushed and not too friendly, which is a pity. Otherwise, it’s a tasty spot.

A friend brought me here for breakfast during a short visit to Melbourne. The cafe is tucked away deep into a laneway, with typical hipster decor and very good coffee. The food menu is relatively short, but the various bagels (I had mine with smashed avo, feta, boiled egg and salmon) are nicely prepared and beautifully presented. Overall, a very good breakfast.

Really over rated and over priced cafe . Poor service. Staff looked anxious and clumsy and forget the orders. We had to finally leave without breakfast . After more than 40 minutes. staff had forgot to deliver the orders to the kitchen. I understand human errors happen in any business, but from my experience, good restaurant staff normally double check with customers if they see they are sitting for long time without any menus in front of them gazing at them.

Alleyway surprise, coffee and bagels. Really nice coffee and light breakfast of a plain bagel with dill. Plenty of selections on the menu around bagels with a selection of toppings, including everyone’s favourite “Smashed Avo”.

We were advised that there would be a bit of a wait for food but we weren’t in a rush. I had a coffee while we waited but DH had trouble finding something he could drink. They had run out of fruit for juices and didn’t have earl grey tea. He ordered salmon Benedict and I had avocado and chicken sandwiches. Both were enormous servings and tasted great.

Great customer service, food and coffee here! The staff are welcoming and show a passion for coffee. They were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. My bagel was generously stacked with toppings and was delicious. The coffee I had was super and I bought two bags of it to take home. Tucked down a quiet street with a few other interesting businesses around, I recommend a visit to this spacious but vibrant coffee shop.

Awesome coffee and food of generous portion. The portion served is good for brunch. Cafe is quiet - great for morning peace or working. Service staff are friendly and we had a short conversation. Worth the visit!

Hidden down a lane way is this gem. Great coffee and superb menu. A little on the expensive side but well worth it. Cafe provides great service and funky atmosphere. The locals know all about it and the tourists stumble over it. Highly recommend it for a great way to start the day. Specialist in bagels!!

Gotta look for this little brekky and coffee hide away. Beautiful French toast with the lot! Yum. If you like your coffee with a kick ask for it strong as it was a mild one. Great atmosphere, great service, gf friendly and lactose free. Loved it! Thank you ❤️

Latte was served in cappuccino cups, salmon didn't seem to be fresh on my plate, on another plate one egg was overcooked and another was just right My salmon plate didn't have eggs at all, while a couple at nearby table had eggs with theirs. I guess I had to pay extra...

Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
