My friend and I visited this afternoon and spent over $300 on drinks and snacks. The food and wine was nice but the service was appalling. We were essentially kicked out and told that they needed our table, despite the place being pretty much empty....The waiter was very rude and told us that they didn’t have the staff to cater for us and needed to sanitize our table. We both had full glasses of wine when we had to leave. I certainly won’t be returning anytime soon. A very disappointing end to a nice afternoon!More

Dinner with family. We were seated upstairs with a great ambience. We selected a number of small plates along with wines and beers. Service is attentive, friendly without being intrusive. The dishes are wonderful and include scallops, strachiatella, croquettes, amazing anchovies etc. Cannot fault anything....One of the best dining experiences we have ever had. Thank you and we will look forward to returning.More

I have been to the Carlton Wine Room multiple times and will continue to come here and bring new friends and family with me. Each time I come it has never failed to disappoint me and the waiters have extensive knowledge about the wines and...food that is served. My favourite dish is the Scallop Tostadas which is a must for me every time I come here. I have not had one meal item that I disliked and am thoroughly impressed by the quality of food and the plating of dishes. I am a pescatarian and there are so many seafood options and even vegetarian dishes. If you are a wine lover this place is most definitely for you! Could not recommend coming here enough. Keep up the great work! I'll be back soon ;)More

It had been 2.5 years since the last visit and that was a few weeks after the Carlton Wine Room opened in 2018 and the food was still up there with the best and the service professional. Wine prices are high but the selection interesting,...the atmosphere very good. The food was interesting, tasty and well presented.More

First time eating out post lockdown so my expectations were high. There was nothing bad about the food but also nothing great. I also felt it under seasoned. Wine list of course was very good. Ambiance good and waiter good (but also not great). Probably...would not return as there are so many great places to eat in Melbourne. But still think overall a bit better than average. Probably a 3.5More

The food is delicious here, make the effort to go. The service is impeccable, the staff friendly and nothing was too hard a question to ask, such as "which wine would you recommend with this dish". Will visit again and again. Thank you

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, amazing food (fried peppers with cashew cream was the best small plate i have had in a long while!), great wine list and a decent IPA available as well. A great place to be.

Our lovely friend Glenn bought us a very generous voucher for the Carlton Wine Room for our wedding a year ago. We decided to hold until it until our first year anniversary dinner after reading the wonderful reviews. The food and service were 10/10! Mouth...watering meals and super friendly waitpeople. The place is surprisingly unpretentious, too. It’s really lovely and relaxing. We’ll be back!More

Visited for the first time for dinner on a Thursday evening. From the moment I walked into the venue I was enchanted by the interiors charm, Friendly relaxed staff, our waiter, wish I remembered his name, which is terrible as he was outstanding, (he got...a tip). The food is all homemade from the butter to the bread.. fresh produce, impeccably presented delicious food! Just outstanding! I had a very memorable evening! Thank you so much to that waiter, the staff, the chef. Will definitely be back!!More

If you want real parmesan, cut from the block, grated
over your pasta with a twist of style, this is the
place. Until recently, this neighbourhood was home to
the notorious ‘Carlton Crew,’ a pseudo mafia who
started their day with a local espresso. They are
gone, but the espresso still runs strong in this
Little Italy which has something for everyone.
