The buffet breakfast was very good! You can get your eggs cooked how you want and there is a great selection of foods to choose from. The service was good but could of been slightly more attentive. The selection of food was great and tasted very fresh. The view is amazing and would of been better on a clearer day!... More

Went to the Sofitel with high hopes for Christmas lunch. Food was excellent, plenty of it and great quality - service though very poor, in fact we were surprised. Three times I piled up the plates and asked for them to be cleared. When you pay a premium given it is Christmas the standard should be the same as we... More

Wide range of foods. The Eggs Benedict are superb! Fresh juices, tasty sausages, range of breads and pastries. Views of Melbourne are breathtaking, even from the toilet. Only downside - waffles weren't great.

The restaurant is modern and stylish and the view of Melbourne is great. The service was friendly and professional. Our party tried the salmon, beef and lamb dishes, all very good and beautifully presented. The lemon meringue and coconut panna cotta desserts were a real hit. And the coffee is very good too!

I organized a business lunch for 20 people here. The staff were amazing, incredibly professional, organized and accommodating. The restaurant looks more modern than the rest of the hotel and has seeing views from the city to the bay. This would be the ideal venue for a business function, or a romantic dinner. The food was perfectly done and extremely... More

My girlfriend and I decided to treat ourselves to lunch at No. 35 in the lead up to Christmas. Apparently a buffet lunch was only available throughout the month of December at No. 35, which we were ok with. I had requested whilst making our reservation a window table, which we received! The service was ok - nothing exceptional, but... More

Expensive, but it is New Year's Eve. Six course set menu with wines supplied (most local) gave the perfect venue to enjoy Melbourne from the rooftops. Each course was brilliantly presented, and unlike most degustation offerings, there was plenty of food in each course. Splendid meal overall!

Made reservations for my husbands birthday and at the time I asked for a window seat. When we arrived they couldn't find the reservation then they seated us away from the window and when asked if there was anything close to the window the response appalling. For people who work in the service industry and clearly had no idea of... More

We were hotel guests. I called to book for 6:45 dinner. That time was not possible but 7:30 pm was available. We accepted that time for our booking. When we arrived at the restaurant there was no booking, and half full. So why was 6:45 not possible and no record of our 7:30 reservation? The waiter was hovering at all... More

Had breakfast/brunch at No35. We enjoy staying at Sofitel hotels and it is quite interesting visiting a hotel in our home town. The hotel is still impressive and hardly showing her age. The main feature is the view of the city below. Breakfast is buffet style and doesn't compare well with other Sofitel buffets. Choices are limited and a bit... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
