Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had a business lunch at the French brasserie last Friday. The food was delicious, and the service provided by the friendly staff was impeccable. Moreover, the owner of the restaurant is quite an intriguing character! I definitely plan on visiting again in the future.

The French Brasserie team played a pivotal role in ensuring that my birthday celebration was a resounding success. Their attention to detail and dedication truly stood out. I am also grateful for the invaluable assistance and support provided by the rest of the crew, who...made the evening truly memorable. Once again, thank you to Captain, Céline, Emmanuele, H, Jeanne, and the entire French Brasserie team.More

My wife and I ate here on a Saturday evening. Our waitress was excellent (I think her name was Ash?). The wine we chose was top-notch. Both were sparkling wines, and the wife had champagne cocktal. We shared the Calamari for entree. Mains w were...Steak Tartare and the Duck. Dessert were choc fondant and the Broulee. Cannot fault any of it. So, so good! Beautiful French food!!More

Had a very enjoyable dinner with a congenial and entertaining host, and a very efficient, friendly witness named Jan. This was our 5th visit to the restaurant, and we shall return again on our next visit to Melbourne.

This was our second visit to the French Brassiere. Once again it was a wonderful evening. The meal was superb. The champagne perfect. We progressed with our lessons in the French language. Our serveur Tom was brilliant, helping us with our French. My sister said...to Tom, ‘Je conduis une voiture. Je me nettoie les dents tous les jours!’ Tom was impressed with her efforts! The Manager was also very pleasant and congenial. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is in the city of Melbourne looking for an evening in France. Can’t wait to go back again!More

This is a great restaurant, great food and wonderful service. The Beef cheeks and Escargot are my personal favorite, sides are fantastic and wines amazing. Service is great, the experience has always been good and they create a homely atmosphere for you catering as much...as possible for anything different you may want. Great restaurant, good for business and social events.More

The French Brassiere in Melbourne and had a fantastic dining experience. The menu offered a great variety of French-inspired dishes, all of which were delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere was cozy and intimate. My only minor critique...would be that the portion sizes were on the smaller side. Despite this, I still left feeling satisfied and impressed with the overall experience. A solid 4-star rating and highly recommended for anyone looking for a taste of France in Melbourne!More

Great food and welcoming entrance. However, the waiter Romaine would come every 10 minutes to fill up our water and managed to somehow give us the wrong bill but overall great restaurant as the manager was so welcoming and it felt very inviting. Ordered a bowl of mussels. 4 we’re still closed. Fried squid was barely warm and undercooked. Leek was so tough on the outside it took 2 of us to cut it….one holding the plate. Dessert was supposed to be chocolate and mango. Chocolate was nice,...mango didn’t taste of anything. Very expensive dinner for the quality we had.More

We wanted something special for our last night in Melbourne first restaurant looked like a Covid casualty, second had no tables for a couple but 3rd time lucky. When we arrived we were greeted by gracious staff who said to please sit down while we...get you a table. Within minutes we were taken to and seated at our table. The atmosphere was terrific with all staff speaking fluent French that my high school French couldn’t keep up with! But they could also speak very good English ! We ordered the Mussell special and 6 snails thst we shared for entrees and they were superb ! Which I had asked for more bread to disk up the garlic sauce but resisted! For mains we both had the Beef Bourguignon and we were not disappointed! Was done to perfection and didn’t need any sides to accompany! We decided to have wines by the glass do we could have a white with the entrees and a ref for the main. Desert we had the classic Brûlée with a pear brandy that didn’t disappoint! Was well worth the cost and we would go back again if we are down there with time to enjoyMore

We had the pleasure to have a great experience for lunch at the French Brasserie. Everything was perfect from the first minute we arrive to the last. Service was great !! The staff and the managers were very friendly. We felt like we were not...even in Melbourne. The decoration, the ambiance & atmosphere was perfect. I had the steak tartare and the porterhouse steak : perfectly cooked. I highly recommend this address if you are looking for good food and tired for deep fried food and fast-food like.
