Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sassy.x shares its abode with its burger bar next door - Sassy Buns. This is open from 11am to 10pm seven days a week. The prices are premium and there is quite a variety available, including two vegan varieties. I tried the beetroot and lentil one for $13. I was very impressed that it had both disabled access and disabled toilets. They were very clean, too. Customers were few and i wonder if this is the best location for premium burgers and hot dogs.

This little gem is right next door to the Nth Melbourne station, and should be a must for anyone coming to Melbourne, or locals who want a great dining experience. My wife and I were staying in Nth Melbourne, and decided to try this Italian restaurant as it was close by. The home made saffron and herb Gnocchi was superb, as was the blue swimmer crab risotto. Deserts are mainly Italian favourites but with a nice twist from the chefs. We shared a vanilla and lemon pannacotta one night and a sticky date, banana and walnut pudding on the other night. The wine list, although a little limited, has both Australian and Italian wines. The Italian Chianti went extremely well with the risotto. The Sunday special of a bottomless Gnocchi and cocktails for $50 per head is great value when you consider the quality of the food and service. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

The owners are very hands on and focused on making sure the food is fabulous (as well as the experience). Pizza is fabulous (not your "normal" pizza) especially the vegetarian one! All the food is prepared with love - and you can tell. Next door they do the best burgers I've eaten in years (if you're looking for something more casual) - DELICIOUS! (Great coctails also).

Stopped in for lunch. The food was adequate - nothing exciting. The waitress didn’t know the options on the menu (perhaps staff training would be beneficial) On paying, they charged me more than the menu stated. I queried this, and they then refunded, realising that I knew I’d been overcharged. They then refunded me less than the refund due, which I again challenged, and received the full refund of the overcharged component. There are two explanations here: incompetence, or outright attempt to defraud and overcharge customers. Both are abominable. Combined with average food, and disorganised and badly trained staff, go somewhere else. Do not go here.

The food was good. I had a pizza Sorrentina and a Cos side salad. But there were some unusual spices or too much pepper on the pizza, which tasted not typical italian in my opinion. Nevertheless I especially liked the salad which contained radish, fennel, apple and raisins. When the bill came, they charged me the regular price, but not their sassy Tuesday pizza offer (pizza and drink for sassy $20). Once I spoke to the waiter, they fixed it to the promo rate.

Our visit to Sassy could only have been made better by more people having been there in a cold and wet winter night, so the atmosphere was a little more bustling for our early dinner. The food was delightful, and truly authentic to its Italian roots. We visit Italy often, and the flavours were on point. The gnocchi was beautiful light and perfectly cooked, and the accompanying osso bucco ragu had a great depth of flavour and was delicious. The risotto was perfectly cooked too, and full of flavour. This place is a little hidden gem, which given it was a $10 Uber from the opposite side of the CBD should make it a must visit for those visiting Melbourne, who want a well priced meal, with nice views of the docklands. The service was great, though it wasn’t the busiest when we were there, even the owner came and spoke with us, and was really friendly. This place will definitely be on our list to revisit next time we’re in the city.

Sassy is a great secret that’s waiting to be discovered! Thoroughly enjoyed my dinner perfectly cooked - grilled snapper served with gnocchi. Dinner was finished off by sharing two delicious desserts- Tiramisu, and an orange pudding Service was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend!

We have eaten from Sassy many times, and continue to go back, even during COVID. The burgers are among the best in the area, the shoestring fries are crispy and salty, and the truffle mayo is incredible. Highly recommended.

Attended Sassy for Dinner, and the staff were friendly BUT the prices were extremely high for the amount of food. I had salt & pepper calamari, found approx 5 pieces of calamari amongst alllll the salad, and a glass of wine $13.90, what an overcharge !!!!! Will not be back...Can go elsewhere for proper glass of wine, and more calamari... Very dissatisfied

From the friendly welcome on arrival from the proprietor to the interested chat as we were guided to our table, our visit started off really well. When we ordered our calamari salad and mushroom pizza to share, with sparkling water, we felt welcome and appreciated. The food was spot on, and the only comment was a slight delay in the arrival of our coffee. But it was because they were bringing a cake to a birthday party and chatting with them and making them feel special, so when the coffee did come, it was worth waiting for. We will be back.

Unpretentious diner that serves tasty Italian fare and the best sticky date pudding you will have in Australia - I've eaten this desert across all states and this is hands down the best: pudding is soft without excessive ginger tones, ice cream matched and sauce plentiful. Staff are friendly without being over indulgent or fawning, and the major is a hard working guy who aims to please. You cannot be disappointed!

I looked over the menu on the outside wall and saw that the main courses were $30-50 and the wine list showed wines (without the winery name) for about $80 a bottle. I decided on a snack to go with my Axil coffee. The service was very good. I was brought to a table with menu already in place and offered water. My glass continued to be refilled as I drank it. The Axil coffee was great, as always, and my meat ball roll was rich and tasty. This might be a place to come on special occasions, as the main courses looked to be interesting combinations of food items.

We have now been to Sassy twice in 2 weeks - enough said - this is great Italian food. Entree, Main and Deserts all top notch. Croquettes stand for the entree, the chicken ragu pasta is so tasty and then top it off with the orange marmalade pudding. We went as a couple, and then again as an extended family.

I had visited Sassy around 2years ago not long after it opened. Despite the trials of Victorian COVID restrictions it has survived and thrived! Above North Melbourne railway station it is worth avoiding parking and limiting 🍷to make a gourmet stop! A wonderful wine list with Italian meal classics as mainstays complemented by daily specials. I loved my lamb shank, but it wasn’t an easy choice with so many options! A warm, friendly and attentive team led by Alex. Bellissimo!
