About
Straight Outta Saigon brings you the best from the south of Vietnam. The newly renovated restaurant has a much similar ambiance to the sister restaurant Hochi Mama. The rustic-street vibe restaurant focuses on bringing the best from Saigon with a modern twist. Diners can expect to experience high-quality casual dining, a full range of cocktails inspired by tropical areas of Vietnam such as Nha Trang & Da Nang, great alcoholic fresh off the boat drinks inspired by our parents using ingredients such as Grass Jelly, Chia Seeds and Tea infused kombucha.

I remember hearing so much buzz around this place pre-lockdown and finally got around to going. I regret I didn't go sooner! The cocktails *chefs kiss*, the food "yummmm" and the service just warmed my heart. This place is one of the few in Melbourne...that still has some soul to it without being pretentious or superficial. My new regular spotMore

Great food for lunch. Friendly staff and great cocktails. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Sure the toilets are next store but we did not care.

Service was friendly and helpful. Food was fine. None of it was mind blowingly good. The “crispy pork with the apple slaw” should be called “apple slaw with hints of pork belly” as the balance was off. The rose was really good…..a really nice drop!...My only complaint is the toilet. To go to the toilet you have to leave the restaurant, climb up some dirty, dodgy stairs towards a Mexican restaurant, then you find the toilet at the end of a hallway. No signposts to direct you there, and the toilets looked like they hadn’t been cleaned properly since the 1970’s. Overall the experience was okay, but there’s plenty of better Vietnamese and Asian restaurants in close proximity to here.More

We chose the $32.50 set price per person meal. With that we got to choose from several small, large and side dishes. All of the food was fresh, tasty and well prepared. There are some interesting cocktails to help balance the spice and chili in...the food. It was a great choice for the meal break between the Harry Potter play. My only concern was that we were told that we had to vacate the table by 6:30 pm for our 5 pm booking. The staff then proceeded to forget about us, seating several other tables, taking their orders, so that the other tables received their meal before us. If they want us out at a specific time, then they should serve us promptly.More

This met our expectations precisely. Famished after a day’s drive from Sydney, we picked up our daughter and dove straight into the menu. Service was speedy and good-humoured. Standouts were the Land of the Rising Sun cocktail (though this should be served in a larger...glass for the price), the pork belly rice paper rolls, the Crispy Saigon Fried rice with chicken (a must-have!) and the Asian slaw. Broccoli stir-fry with tofu also great. We were all done in an hour. Not the place for lingering over conversation - it’s on the noisy side - but perfect if you want to fill up fast on delicious food.More

We ate here 2 months ago, I am only writing the review now as we finally got our refund!! We ate here on a Friday night, after our meal I looked down and noticed 3 mice at my feet - I totally freaked out and...got up to sit at the bar with my feet not touching the ground - when we looked over you could see the mice running around under the tables. My partner mentioned this to a staff member, we were sat at the bar and no member of staff approached us. I then mentioned to a different member of staff that they had mice and he said they have had a problem in the past - he offered a free drink...awful customer service. My partner quickly paid the bill so we could get out of there ASAP but then asked for a refund after. (Stupidly paid the bill - we should have walked straight out of there!!) The fact that the staff didn't CARE that there were mice in their restaurant shocked me and then for the manager to take weeks to respond regarding this issue - total nightmare.More

This small little restaurant had big things to offer. From the great ambience indoor, to the amazing food and superb staff. I enjoyed their "a bit of anything" on their menu which allowed my friend and I to try out a few dishes without breaking...the bank. Their cocktails are delicious as well. Will definitely be part of my regular place to visit for a good dine out. XxMore

Great little spot, near the theatre, bars, etc. We had the set menu, $32.50 each, got 2 smaller dishes and two larger dishes and rice as side order. The food size was excellent for the larger plates and the pork and coleslaw salad was delicious...with great flavour's.The manager was lovely and friendly with kind attitude.Other staff need to be assertive with their approach to customers, clearing of the table was slow and one staff didn't listen to my issue, but it did get resolved by the manager. Overly a great night! As most places in Melbourne you need to book a table here or you'll miss out!More
