The pasta was okay but definitely not fresh, what I didn’t love was the service. Arrogant man on the front that rushes you in the door, we wanted to sit out the front which was vacant but was made to sit on the Terrance which...was full of diners packed in like sardines. Service was slow and some very rude/arrogant waiters wouldn’t come back.More

We took a chance to select this place as most other restaurants were closed or closing due to arriving in Melb after delayed Virgin flights and baggage collection stuff up at airport - desperate for a meal and a beer. The place was packed at...10.30pm but we had a table and ordered quickly, beer delivered fast and cold !! was very late and some selections out of stock but waiter helped us select a great meal. Was not a 'cheap eat' but we don't look for 'cheap', in the circumstances we were most satisfied, the Waiter looked after us very well. Many thanks.More

Went with a friend, were alot of restaurants closed due to being between xmas and new years. We chose this one and was the wrong choice. Service was very ordinary, food was ok but not value for money. Worst of all our entree came after...we had finished our main meal... Won't be back and i advise to go somewhere else on Lygon st as there are alot better places than this one. Also be warned They charge a service fee as wellMore

Ahhhh should have known to avoid when there was a big push to get us in the “ door” with offer of free drinks and assurance pasta was fresh! Yeah right. 1) When we were first seated the guy who sat us pulled out my...chair and I sat - as you do 2) Waiter approaches and asks are there 3 of us. I say no only two. He then becomes very rude and tells me I’m blocking his way making his job difficult blah bla blah. I say the dude over there sat me here. Waiter pitches fit and says he would not have done that rah rah rah - yep should have left right there and then 3) Garlic bread comes out - ha ha it’s bread with butter and garlic melted on it - still cold in places - how you can get GB so wrong beggars belief 4) The fresh pasta comes out - now having once been married to an Italian I know fresh pasta and this was not fresh - possibly my fettuccine was fresh in a previous life but not today. My partner Marinara was swimming in some wartery liquid that was tinged with a touch of a colour of a tomato Nonna would not be happy When we informed the waiter of our dissatisfaction he simply said sorry - which is is at least a recognition- the pushy free drink dude simply walked away to hijack the next customers 😂😂 Oh and YES my partner got his free beer 🍺More

i went to this restaurant on Monday to claim midweek melbourne money. Everything was fine until i paid the bill. i was given a EFTPOS receipt, since it is not accepted by the midweek melbourne money program, i asked for an itemized bill. The staff...member suddenly changed into a different person, a person i could not recognize. he stamped on the back of the receipt gave me a hand written bill. He then screamed at me, asking me to take a photo of the bill. He said he could not give the bill to me coz he needed it as a record. i was almost forced to took the photo, he then stormed out like running away from a plague. It seemed i did something wrong by asking for an itemized bill. i was left there, confused and humiliated. Despite how rude the staff member was, he told me the photo would do. However, it turned out that i was denied of the mid week melbourne money coz it only accepts a machine printed itemized bill. i sent an email to the manager but got no reply. i will definitely not come back to this restaurant.More

Fantastic authentic Italian experience! I am Italian myself and have been living in OZ for the past 7 years. La spaghettata was one of the most authentic experiences I had. From the playlist to the amazing cozze alla pescatora to the wine, my husband and...I truly enjoyed the experience. Definitely recommendedMore

The food and service are average, charged 5% service fee for Saturday night and did not allow entertainment book to be used for the night. Even been asked to tip at the end...not coming back.

I understand that hospitality has absolutely copped it during covid but over filling a resturant and not having adequate staff, is a let down 😔 We unfortunately had to ask for service multiple times and all the main meals were served staggered and the last...3 meals left waiting until everyone else almost finished. My main calamari was certainly not worth the price tag and was served cold. Hubby said the veal was okay but the sauce was too thick. Kids were happy with their meals. We have eatten here before at quieter times but we won't be rushing back.More

We were booked in for a table and were very excited as we just got engaged 5 mins prior. The table behind us was empty which I thought was great because of covid. 10 mins later we had a family sitting back to back. Ordered...a bruschetta, out came 4 tiny pieces of bread. Veal was not the best and carrots were hard, (gravy was very nice) We ordered another main meal (x3 in total for 2 people)as the servings were small and pasta was definitely not up to Lygon steer standards. As for the waiter, he was very rude and put his hands up when we ordered another dish. At time of payment he asked for a tip and my partner offered $2 to round it up to $140 but he pretended not to understand and said $5. Was very disappointed and will not be returning.More

If you want real parmesan, cut from the block, grated
over your pasta with a twist of style, this is the
place. Until recently, this neighbourhood was home to
the notorious ‘Carlton Crew,’ a pseudo mafia who
started their day with a local espresso. They are
gone, but the espresso still runs strong in this
Little Italy which has something for everyone.
