Great Italian food and service on Lygon st. Try the black mussels (cozze pescatore) and the carbonara - they are deeeeelicious!
Fabulous venue in the heart of Lygon street. A nice cosy warm restaurant. Offers indoor and outdoor seating.
We went out 11 people for dinner on a Monday. All of the staff was so nice, funny and friendly during the whole evening. We felt very welcome and had such a good night. The food was very good as well.
Wow! The best authentic Italian food I’ve ever eaten. Service was amazing. Nothing too much to ask for. So friendly too. Definitely worth the 5 stars.
I did not enjoy my visit tonight. I was looking at the menu when the doorman applied significant pressure (politely?) to go in. I ordered the prawn "cutlets" scallops and calamari. The batter was too salty to eat, the scallops were about a quarter of...the expected size and the prawns were just deshelled and fried. The second star is for my waitree who was lovely.More
You want an authentic Italian experience??? La Spaghettata has entered the chat. Can Sicily exist in Melbourne, of course not, but you what the next best thing, right? Let me proudly introduce La Spaghettata on Lygon Street. I can imagine this place becoming super busy...later on, but for me on my visit - amazing. I recommend the full experience. Service from Luciano was amazing!More
We came here as a family of 4. The man out the front was hounding customers to come in. “Will give you this free and that free” all the meals came out fast. The chicken was super thin and one meal was forgotten about. The...waiter was very nice and said he would take this off our bill. Spaghetti was ok. Reminded me of a frozen meal. Chips were great!More
Being from Italy I always try to avoid those “authentic Italian” tourist traps. Unfortunately I couldn’t do so yesterday. Decor and atmosphere aside (I worry that people might think that Italy actually looks like this in this century), I thought I would be safe ordering...the simplest thing on the menu: fettuccine with tomato sauce. It came as a fluorescent green pasta dish (supposedly spinach based pasta), terribly salty, horribly full of garlic (which most Italians dislike and would not use), and the pasta itself was overcooked. The dish was 30$, plus 5% for “big group” of 5, plus 15% for holiday surcharge (it was Boxing Day), plus no split bills. Stay away unless you are happy with overpriced trite unauthentic Italian food that would make a 60’s restaurant in Brooklyn NY be embarrassed.More
What a gem! On a visit to Melbourne with my wife, after a late finish to a meeting in Port Melbourne, I asked our taxi driver to take us to Lygon Street. We got and looked around for an Italian restaurant which was the cuisine...we had decided on. We decided on La Spaghettata. Fantastic! While it was still very crowded the maitre d' found a table and quickly prepared it again for us. The young waiter was professional and attentive, despite being extremely busy. The meal, both entree and main were excellent. Overall we were most impressed with all aspects of this restaurant.More
The owner or the person who was in charge of the place was very interactive funny and polite and I recommend this restaurant to couples and family’s.
We needed somewhere to take my Aunt and Uncle for a special meal in Melbourne and this lovely place was ideal. We were recommended to this restaurant by a hotel manager in Apollo Bay. She lived in Melbourne for 8 years and always took her...parents there. We were welcomed by the proprietor and looked after from start to finish. Great food and hospitality. Thank youMore
La Spaghettata would have to be the best restaurant I have ever been to. The food is delicious. I have had Italian before but this restaurant tops them all. The staff are amazing and very friendly. The atmosphere is perfect. I can't wait to come...back. Would highly recommend to everyone.More
Good location and reasonable priced food which was very nice, would recommend this place and we went with a group of 22 and were well served upstairs
So we decided to do a road trip to Melbourne for food. Definitely had to go to lygon st Melbourne for Italian! We did read reviews and even to our surprise my niece said to go to this restaurant (she actually said when she got...there that it was the wrong one). It sure was. The food was very ordinary. As our review say the bruschetta it definitely on toast and it definitely is just a slice of tomato. We all had pasta and sorry but to me it definitely was packet pasta. Very disappointed, ashame when the service was fine. I would not recommend this restaurant.More
