We have the joy of revisiting Asado recently with friends and the experience was as exceptional as the last time we visited, prior to co-vid. We enjoyed the ‘El Matador’ set menu $95 per head with our waiter ‘Paulie’ offering a swap out of the ceviche for beef tartare, which was sublime. Truly we could not fault the food, the ambience and exceptional wait staff.
Definitely only need one meal for the day after eating this amount of food.

In our opinion I was undercut on a $110 rib eye that was supposed to be 500 grams but it was more like 400 gram. Taste was below average too. Service was just ok and waiter seemed on edge. So pissed when you spend $300 for two and you both walk out saying how average the food was. Asado pick up your game if you want to charge premium prices then provide the steak and service to match it.

Excellent Argentinian fare in peaceful surroundings with VERY helpful staff who guided us through the Set Menu option we chose. The Matador Set Menu is a bit pricey at $95 per person, but the food was delicious and left us well satisfied.
I would highly recommend Asado for a great night out in Melbourne.

What a ripoff my wife ordered off the menu the 300 gram snapper for a whopping $65. 15 mins later they came back and said the 300 was out but they can offer her a 350 gram. I said at the same price. Oh no they said where I argued that they never told us the 300 was off the menu.
Anyway get to pay the bill and the owner was at at front counter and I see they have charged us $82 for the snapper. Apparently it was $75 for the 350 plus there is a 10% loading on the specials menu (that’s right this was apparently a special) taking the $75 snapper, that we never ordered, to $82.
What a ripoff. And the owner was there to make a judgement call. The food there is great. Service was show but these people are ripoff artists. I’ve eaten there before but never again.
My wife and I had had a prefect weekend with great food at the GreenTree, loved & Juliet then today blown away by Monet and friends at the Lome to be left with a vey sour taste after dinning at this restaurant. Avoid this money hungry place at all costs

The steak was good. Wine very overpriced at 500% markup of bottleshop. Service was a bit hit and miss and not particularly attentive. Having eaten in many restaurants in Argentina this was a pale imitation of the real thing.

Very sorry to say, this meal was well below average. Please don't get sucked in by some of these other reviews. 500gm Pork cooked over coals to share, was not 500gms at $79.00 Consisted of 3 chops and some off cuts, sitting in some awful fat drippings. Potato side dish was over cooked small quatered, unpeeled type wedges, very oily. Beetroot side dish, raw, one very small sprig of we don't know what green, minimal dressing. Additional dressings were forgotten and bought to table late. Website photos do not match what we were served up. Big sell on Red wine, we bought 2 glasses of Spanish Cab Sav. No legs on glass at at. Tasted like cask wine at $12.00 per glass and when the bottle emptied into second glass (short filled), all we got was sorry that is the end of that bottle. Did not return with another bottle to top up.
Total cost $181.00 including taxes what in earth. Never to be recommended by us, ever

We visited as a couple on a weekend night (on a recommendation) and were seated fairly quickly. We had the Jamón Ibérico de Cebo (ham and toast), Entraña: Black Opal Wagyu (VIC) grain-fed inside skirt, MS6 and some Argentinian wine.
The highlight was the potatoes. They were perfectly cooked - crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. The servings were very generous. Tip: Order one bowl to share between two diners.
The steaks were perfectly cooked medium rare as requested. Table sauces were provided (a salsa and a chimichurri sauce) but there were no other sauces available to order (e.g. mushroom, blue cheese).
Asado has an extensive wine list.
Service was good. The waits are long but we were warned and updated throughout.
The only thing I would fault the restaurant on is the overall prices, although this is becoming fairly standard amongst higher tier restaurants.
Overall, a quality restaurant and will likely be back.

Hola!
Thank you so much for taking the time to review Asado, we appreciate your feedback.
We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed our service!
Our location does lead us towards a slightly higher price point. We offer a really premium product so hopefully that translated in the food and beverage you received.
Muchas gracias

Good location and great food. The ambience was on point. They really did really well with the interior design.
Empanadas de carne, croqueta de trucha, carpaccio , língua and Argentinian alfajor were great. The meat was delicious and price point aligned with the other restaurants in the area.

$95 500gm Rib Eye steak was more like a $20 supermarket steak. Couldn’t eat or chew half of the meat and I was very underwhelmed with quality due to the price they charge. Over half fat and gristle was left on the plate with the heavy bone which wouldve made up the weight per price . Upside was the carrots and potatoes as the sides , these were very yummy.

Last night we completed the holy trinity of Argentinian food in Melbourne. It was so delicious and I’m still so full.
First impressions, it’s so good seeing a restaurant busy on non event Tuesday night. As I’ve come to expect now from San Telmo group, the service was faultless. The staff in these restaurants are so well informed, always smiling and so attentive, even when under the pump.
We actually ate so well that we couldnt manage desserts on this occasion but wat we had was unreal! Started wit tapas; flatbread & dip, scallops, beef tongue and empanadas, followed by eye fillet, lamb, papas & salad. I don’t think we had anything constructive to say about any of it, it was so delicious and we were so happy.
And to finish of course I picked up a jar of their Chimmichurri that I wanted so bad since my visit to Palermo, which I sought out at San Telmo and found here at Asado.
As an overall review of the 3, I think Palermo is the most impressive venue, aesthetically. Below ground level it feels exclusive and fancy and new. I think the food we had in Asado was the best, excellent menu and all of it, even the simple side salad delivered on flavour and though I physically couldn’t put away anymore than I did, it’s left me greedy for more. For overall experience I think San Telmo is the champion. The venue is nice (not spectacular but cool, cozy and comfortable), the food is delicious and the service is the best I’ve ever had in Melbourne. San Telmo provided excellent recommendations where as the other venues just kinda told me more about dishes rather than recommended anything, even when pressed and though they did their jobs perfectly and provided top knotch service, San Telmo felt more personable and welcoming and was just a whole thing.
I loved my experiences in all three though and can’t wait to return to all of them again. Highly recommend all the venues, they’re kinda the same but also offer something a little different in each.
Last nights lamb though 🤤
Round of applause 👏 👏👏👏👏

Another fantastic dinner at Asado! The food was glorious, especially the excellent steak and tartare—both are must-tries. A special shout-out to Paul for being incredibly friendly and attentive. His service was quick and responsive. After finding it was my birthday, he surprised me with a dessert and candle, making the celebration even more memorable.

Why does everything have to be done on an app.
Walked in to Asado, was looking for drinks while we considered our food order. App charged me $1 straight off, another member ordered drinks, mentioned it to the service, who said they hoped it wouldn’t happen again…
Lost for words. Took our hard earned money elsewhere!

What a wonderful find, open on a Monday night a huge plus & a lot of diners had also found it. This was our first experience with Argentinian food, the staff were incredibly knowledgeable & happily explained the menu. We chose to try some of the tapas & a few smaller meals to get a good tasting, all dishes had incredible flavour, our tastebuds were singing & of course had to have dessert the Flan was incredible so rich & flavoursome & the cheesecake stunning. We look forward to coming back but will book a table next time as we were lucky to get in without a booking.

We recently dined at Asado Melbourne and were thoroughly impressed. This was not our first visit, and it's heartening to see that the quality has remained exceptional over time.
To start, we shared the Empanada Carne and Tartare, both of which were delicious and bursting with flavor. For our main course, we enjoyed the Entraña, accompanied by fries and a fresh salad, all washed down with a glass of tasty red wine. Each dish was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented.
We highly recommend Asado Melbourne to other visitors looking for a memorable dining experience.
