The food was delicious & plentiful. A helpful hint if you go is to know that most dishes are best suited to sharing. The waiter suggested ordering a foccacia (plain pizza) to go with the meat platter, which was a great idea. The calzone was yummy, however as I was the only one eating it, it was quite cool by the time I was half way through. Perhaps 2 half size calzones would have kept the dish warmer. Although we weren't aware (or made aware) that the salumi platter was ideally for 2-3 people, my partner almost managed to polish it off. He wasn't a fan of the mortadella though.

The last time I was in Melbourne the staff at my hotel recommended I eat here but unfortunately it was full - and it is a teeny weeny restaurant. This time we were in town for the Melbourne food and wine festival so made sure got a table as it was a crazy busy weekend with the Grand Prix as well. I had the Pizza Napoletana (outstanding) and my husband had the Pizza Tiger (Prawn) (also outstanding). We both ate our entire pizza and I never do that - and there was none of that bloated, heavy feeling that you so often get after eating pizza. I will also share with you we had the best bottle of red wine ever - not cheap at $101.20 but it was worth every cent. It was called Primitivo and we are trying to source some on line.

We travelled from Brisbane to be with family for a birthday celebration, having booked in advance we were excited to catch up with all. Firstly there seemed to be a tension with the serving staff but we ignored and ordered our food. Drinks arrived so far so good The table behind us and the one on the other side where well underway, obviously celebrating there as well The food came then things slipped, the pizza’s great the gluten free for one guest fantastic, but just as we were finishing our drinks a waiter came and aske us to pay and leave… I noted that noisy table hadn’t been asked, the waiter said we only had a time limit, which normally I would be ok with, but no approaches to the two other tables (they came before us and were subject to same rules I’m thinking.. The manager came up and started to lecture us, to which I responded ok let us finish our wine and we will go, perhaps you can ask the other noisy tables to leave as well … nothing said to them… so I wondered why us, was it we weren’t drinking as much, that we were older than the others on both tabels or some other reason not needing to be aired here… but end point is we came for entertainment and connecting with family… Message be consistent and we would understand the possible reasons we were asked dont bare airing on this platform.. so we wont come back I assume everyone will be happy with that

I ordered ONE pizza with my partner at 6:38pm and on the call they let us know it would be 15-20 minutes. We arrived at D.O.C at 6:53pm and paid, expecting we would be waiting around another 15 minutes given it was a busy Friday night. At 7:25pm I went in to ask how much longer it would be and the staff looked around frantically for the docket but gave no further explanation to the wait. I walked back outside and continued waiting. At 7:35pm I went back in and I asked for my money back. I explained that it was unfair to expect us to wait for over an hour with no explanation as to what the delay was. The lady I spoke with said “I should realise how busy they are”. As apparent as it was, it’s simple to just be honest with your customers with the estimated wait - ESPECIALLY if you have forgotten an order. The lady I spoke with provided the most insincere apology to us. She denied that our order was forgotten and said that’s just how long the porcini pizza takes. Despite the fact we were told 15 minutes at the start and also that others had come and go, ordering many more pizzas than we had. Won’t ever go back to this place - there are far better places that actually care about the experience of their customer.

Went on a dinner with my partner and it was quite packed and overwhelmed but the service was nice and really friendly but the pizzas were really average if not poor. I've seen reviews that say that there is a massive diversity of pizzas which is not true. Mainly it all bases around mozzarella and tomato sauce and they are really forcing the menu with italian phrases, but the quality isnt even close to italian pizza. As i mentioned before the staff were really nice and friendly but the pizzas are really thin and bland and it is overpriced. Wouldn't recommend it while being in Melbourne. Plenty of better choices.

Long time between drinks thanks to Covid, so worth a return visit for what proved to be a satisfying, good value dinner, especially after recently being gouged at Di Stasio Pizzeria just up the road. Again, great ingredients produces excellent quality pizza and terrific salads. Still have a minor quibble regarding slightly too dry pizza crust, though not as obvious as on our previous visit and we were offered (without having to ask) olive oil on the side. Requested chili as an extra and can highly recommend the chili in oil served to us. DOC allows BYO...A real bonus. Friendly service ......all in all,a very good meal.

Ordered dinner at this establishment on a busy night and paid the price - waiting half an hour for our food to arrive. The pizza was cool and certainly didn't do justice to what would have been delicious ingredients. The salad we ordered was served later still. Because of the long delay in being served, we decided to eat and leave as quickly as possible, so didn't comment. Whilst paying our bill, the waiter asked if "everything was OK" The question shouldn't be asked if an unwelcome answer is given. The next few minutes were unpleasant. We won't return. $75 for 1 cold pizza, a salad and 1 glass of wine left a bitter taste.

Would have been better off getting some Latina fresh and microwaving it. We got the gnocchi and lasagna and it was cold, flavourless, and just not worth $30 each. Left as soon as we were done eating, hungry and unsatisfied so disappointed

What a great little place, met at the door by smiling staff, hectic and noisy, lots going on, reservation was in the book and our table was ready. Italian wines were perfectly suited and the Pizza’s were obviously made with passion, there is no option here to add or subtract toppings which was fine by us. I had the spicy Italian salami pizza and it was very good, all six pizzas came out pretty quickly and were nice and hot and crispy.

This Italian providore and restaurant is always very popular and you can figure out why when tasting the produce. The food is tasty and generous, the cocktails excellent. I prefer to sit outside on the street terrace as I found the inside unbearably noisy.

How a once great place has become, well not so great . Not sure what has happened since my last visit however this place is highly undesirable . Prices have gone up significantly, and I will comment that this is predominately a pizza restaurant, menu has changed and become somewhat boring, no longer BYO and now charging exorbitant prices starting at $70 per bottle and service that has now become extinct. Previous visits made me return time and time again for the extremely pleasant wait staff and the warmth and friendliness overall. Now confronted with an obnoxious floor manager and staff whom had zero idea on how to look after customers has left me wondering what has truly gone on since my last visit and certainly my final visit. Four pizzas, one sad salad, one bottle of wine, 6 disappointed patrons and a bill of $260 with not even a thanks for coming. With a restaurant not even half full, I suspect many are saying the same.

Great pizza and welcomed at the door. We arrived a little early to our reservation and had to wait for the table to be cleared, other people didn’t have bookings and had to come back so defiantly recommend you book beforehand! Felt rushed when we were seated and had to order fairly quickly and didn’t have much chance to read the wine list so they recommended the most expensive glass of wine. Also got charged for bottle water and didn’t realise till after we could just ask for tap water. Food comes out great but just the time pressure I didn’t enjoy at this establishment.

We managed a large table at late notice and loved the the great pizza and great vibe. D.O.C. in Italy means you have to abide by certain standards and this means you get authentic and high quality food. Pizzas are varied and great and salads and drinks were nice too. Great atmosphere and friendly service.

We haven't found good pizza in Canberra yet, and after eating the pizza at DOC, it is worth it to fly to Melbourne JUST FOR DOC PIZZA. Seriously good, real Italian pizza. We will be back every time we are in Melbourne. Thank you DOC!

Don’t get me wrong, the pizza was really good. But for a crammed space with average atmosphere, I simply can’t justify $33 for a prosciutto pizza. Seems a bit too much. Tasty, but overpriced. Lucky my partner doesn’t eat much because I needed to take her leftovers to feel satisfied.

Lygon Street
If you want real parmesan, cut from the block, grated over your pasta with a twist of style, this is the place. Until recently, this neighbourhood was home to the notorious ‘Carlton Crew,’ a pseudo mafia who started their day with a local espresso. They are gone, but the espresso still runs strong in this Little Italy which has something for everyone. Starched white tablecloths, candles, pizza the way they do it "back home" and maybe even a bit of amore. The number of gelato choices will leave you in a state of indecision and wide footpaths, big awnings and a sea of packed tables makes this al fresco dining experience a continental buzz. Even if you’re not eating, it’s worth the stroll just for the people-watching, which, of course, is an Italian tradition.
