Unfortunately we got poor restaurant experience at crown tower Melbourne. Food and service from waiter was good but we waited for main course to 1 hour. Probably manager decided to serve other table first( They are arrived after one hour later with us) Absolutely terrible...do not waste your time or miner. Was bad experience.More

Great meal. Our waIter was French and a lovely gentleman. Food great. Recommend the French onion soup. Snails were lovely. Daughter had the steak and husband had the John Dory. Busy restaurant, had a lovely night.

Fantastic food. Great wine list with many good reasonably priced wines (even half bottle of well-aged red burgundy just me me). Snails wonderful as was all food. Will return.

Two things contributed to this negative rating; 1. on arrival your Matre d (not sure of her name, middle aged woman with sandy brown hair) asked if we had any dietary requirements. I advised that I have an intolerance to garlic and before i could...explain my requirements she responded "well you have come to the wrong restaurant". I have dined at some of Melbourne's best restaurants, including several other French restaurants and this has never been an issue, with a further discussion about what I can eat and suitable items recommended from the menu. So her comment was rude and unwelcoming. 2. Our reservation was for 6.45pm (we were on time). We were not sure if we were going to order dessert and wanted to sit for a bit after our mains before deciding. At approx 8.20 we decided to proceed with dessert and ordered. At 8.30pm the waiter asked us to move from our table to the bar. I advised I did not want to do this. 5 minutes later the Maitre d returned and told us our reservation was only for 2 hours and we had to move as they needed our table. Our 2 hours were not up at this point. We were just waiting for our dessert which would likely not take long to consume, but she was very rude insisting we move. I again declined and she told me she would go and report this to the manager. A few minutes later our dessert had not arrived so we cancelled it, got the bill and left. This experience ruined what was meant to be a nice night out with my partner, which we booked well in advance. I understand about durations of bookings. This itself was not the problem. It is the way it was dealt with. It could have politely been advised when we ordered dessert that the kitchen was busy and if we didn't mind, could we PLEASE (this word was not used once) move to the bar area so we would not be rushed. If this had occurred I would have either happily moved or decided against dessert and finished up our experience. But it was handled extremely poorly with demands rather than polite requests. Being busy is no excuse for rude service.More

I loved dining at this restaurant in Sydney, a lovely atmosphere, and traditional French menu, so I guess I expected a similar experience at the Southbank version. But unfortunately the best part was the service. The food was average and unimaginative, overcooked fish, lovely fries,...no pate, and so so noisy. Wine list limited. It seems to have gone the way of many of the Crown restaurants on Southbank, trading quality for quantity.More

The location at the Casino is handy, and the restaurant is outfitted nicely. The male waiter who served us was nice. We have been to this restaurant a number of times over the last few years. But we did were disappointed with our lunch yesterday....Issues with the meal: - The duck was $46 and was only 7 small pieces of duck. Sides were extra. Bread was extra. The duck was presented to our table within 10 minutes of ordering it. It had evidently been pre-cooked. - The chocolate profiteroles were more chocolate biscuits in the shape of profiteroles and ice cream where there is normally cream. Really chocolate biscuits and ice cream. No forks were served with the dessert, only spoons. No tongs were served with our fries either. It seems you have to ask for basic cutlery. - No Petit Fours with Coffee. _ This was a Celebration birthday lunch which was noted in the Reservation. Despite the restaurant having this in writing the celebration was completely overlooked and forgotten about by Bistro Guillaume. This restaurant is not trying very hard at all. Any folks reading this who are seeking a French restaurant that is trying harder should try Philippe restaurant in Collins Street. We won't be returning to Bistro Guillaume after this lunch.More

My wife and I had lunch here yesterday. Great food, great atmosphere and in particular great service - very professional, yet we were made to feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. Classic French dishes, beautifully presented, ingredients treated with respect - Entree, Main Course...and Desert - absolutely delicious and a great wine selection (loved the Chablis !). We have eaten at a number of Bistro's in Paris and we both agreed Bistro Guillaume easily eclipsed them all. It was not just the meal we enjoyed, it was the "experience" that made it wonderful. Thank you Bistro Guillaume, we will be back soon !More

I love French food and have been wanting to go to this place for a while. What a disappointment! Ordered Steak Frites which is always a favourite. The steak itself was three miserable slices of meat, tough and tasteless. The Sauce Béarnaise tasted as if...it had come from a bottle and the fries were a shocker, looking and tasting as if they had been scraped from the bottom of the grill. This is without doubt the worst steak that I have had in a long time. The restaurant itself totally lacking in every respect, noisy, grubby and with no ambiance whatsoever. I might add that I had a meal upstairs at Koko about a month ago and that was only marginally better. I cannot believe that Crown has deteriorated so much from being the outstanding world class venue that it used to be. It is obvious that the degeneration of our once beautiful Melbourne has now jumped across the Yarra. To be avoided!More

The tables outside were so close together that the staff could barely get between them. Had to ask for water and then for refills. Had to ask for a wine list. Seemed like we were mostly ignored. We ordered a goat cheese salad and beef...bourgonion. The goat cheese salad was average at best with the cheese being not fully melted and the pear being less than ripe. The beef tasted excellent but was a little dry. I found it interesting that a restaurant this expensive didn’t even provide us with a few slices of bread. Seemed like every other table got a basket. Expensive and disappointing.More

Beautiful atmosphere and friendly staff. A wonderful experience with quality all the way. I had an amazing French onion soup, the main being gnocchi. My main was lovely but the soup and dessert were the stars. The lemon tart ( cannot remember the title) were...amazing. Very romantic and a special night.More

After eating here several times over the years this time was a disappointment. The service was not consistent and appeared no one was in charge with young staff (I’m thinking international students) asking the same questions after other staff members had taken our orders. We...had to ask for someone to explain the specials menu after about 20 minutes of sitting at the table. We had to ask for drink refills and then go to the bar at the end of the meal to ask for the bill. The food was ok but nothing outstanding and the duck main extremely small compared to other meals. We seemed to wait quite a while for the entree to be served and then within minutes of finishing the mains were on the table! They now charge $2.50 for a slice of bread cut in half so it looks like 2 pieces. This used to be complimentary which I think is expected in a French restaurant charging the prices they do! I don’t think I will be going back anytime soon as there are so many wonderful restaurants in Melbourne to try. Bistro Guillaume you need to lift your standards!More
