Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Did not kill me. I say this in jest but am deathly allergic to broad beans (of all things) and the staff accommodated me without hesitation. Honestly the best meal I’ve had on 2 separate occasions. The flavours take you to another world. The chef...is truly an artist! The service is equally superb - shout out to Herb, Reisa and Gemma who made a delicious dinner an absolute delight! They really do go the extra mile at Cumulus!More

This is one of four restaurants we get at whilst in Melbourne from the same family of ownership. They all have a slightly different vibe or style. This is an excellent local neighbourhood, restaurant, small and personal in size which we thoroughly enjoyed. From the...moment we walked through the door we were greeted with a warm smile. With them owning a number of restaurants, it seem that they were able to track the fact that we had been to a number of their other sister restaurants, I have to say at the outset, this was not our intent and we only found out about the ownership structure after we book the restaurants. My partner and I had an absolutely excellent meal, enjoyed the ambience and the excellent service and would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody in the neighbourhood or visiting Melbourne. The food we had was at the highest quality, well prepared, nicely presented and full of flavours. This was definitely a highlight of our visit to the city.More

We were seated without reservations which was unexpected. Apparently, this restaurant keeps a couple of seats open for walk-ins and we were early enough to be able to take advantage of that. I got a half dozen oysters for $2 each (got the happy hour...rate with 3 minutes to spare) and they were delicious. We also got the tuna tartar which was nicely prepared over a bed of peas and an aioli sauce (sounds odd, but it was great). Then we split a Porterhouse steak entree and a roasted potato side. These were meant for one, we couldn’t finish them between the two of us. All in all, it was a great meal at a reasonable price.More

Loud and bustling where one struggles to hear oneself speak. The service was poor and the food wasn't on par with the reputation this place supposedly has. An expensive night out too.

Booked a table of 7 to enjoy the degustation menu featuring local produce. Unfortunately we either misunderstood or the restaurant didn’t deliver on what they were offering. We started out with tapas style entrees with the bread and raw Tuna dishes the highlight. There was...no discussion about where anything was produced, it was just dropped on the table. We got to mains (or should I say main) and two lamb shoulders were put on our table with a salad with enough vinegar on it to clean a house. There was also some sort of cous cous dish but we wouldn’t know.. We appreciated the staff accomodating our early arrival and found them friendly and professional. At times they did rush us with clearing plates and didn’t allow ample time to explore the extensive wine list. Overall we spent well over $100 a head and left knowing we wouldn’t return again. Some of us were even still hungry.More

Waited 5 mins to be seated while the host was off the floor. No other staff took the initiative to sit us. Impossibly loud that made conversation almost impossible. Octopus starter was over cooked and hard and rubbery as a consequence. A porterhouse steak ordered...med-rare arrived medium and the quality of meat was poor. $11.00 for a bowl of leaves drowned in dressing was a rort. All in all a poor dining experience .More

This was our second visit to Cumulus Inc and despite the packed room, the service was excellent. We weren't rushed and each course was absolutely delicious. Servings were generous and the roasted potatoes were memorable. Would definitely return!

Just such phenomenal food. Went for lunch - two of us - the porterhouse was perfect and the fish with clams sensational. The sides were perfect the kipler potatoes and the green runner beans. Sounds simple but unbelievably fabulous! I think you just overtook Supernormal...as my favourite dining in Melbourne. :)More

We visited Cumulus Inc on Sunday 15th Jan as part of a city break in Melbourne. It was a brilliant experience largely thanks to our lovely waitress Bella. She was super welcoming and great at recommending dishes she thought we would love as well as...the perfect pairing wine. The food was incredible, easily one of the best meals we had while staying in Melbourne. Thank you for such an excellent dining experience!More

Really loved the vibe at this restaurant and watching the kitchen in action from the bar seating was perfect. Service was impeccable. Loved the mussels, farm greens and my husband really enjoyed the burrata cheese with tomatoes.

Excellent experience of dinner at Cumulus Inc. Each entree and main was delicious, with generally generous serves. Flavour combinations were interesting and worked extremely well. Waitress very kindly recommended a half serve of the outstanding Portarlington mussels which was wise - although they were so...good we'd gladly have struggled to eat the double (it was the kind of meal where we tasted everyone's dishes to mutual envy). Chicken was also terrific, potatoes simply moreish and tuna tartare and oysters superb. Olives and sourdough were really great value. Service was charming and highly professional. Some slowness e.g. to clear plates as staff were rather busy - seemed to be a little short staffed (on a Sunday)- but those present were very attentive and easy to catch their eye when needed. Good management of our wine. A little noisy due to typical acoustics of wooden floor boards but fine with a small table. Will definitely be back.More

The menu is gluten free and pescaterian friendly, portion sizes are sufficient and presentation is appetising. The gf bread and miso butter was welcome with our wine by the glass as we anticipated our orders. We shared an excellent honey panna cotta. Wait staff are...attentive. A nice place for casual dining.More

We booked not really knowing much about Cumulus inc as we are from interstate. We dined at Cumulus inc, for dinner last night and the food was amazing, staff were attentive and really friendly and accommodating. We had the chefs menu and all the dishes...were beautifully presented with amazing flavours. Watching the staff work it was clear they love what they do. Our waitress was Bella and she was delightful. We will definitely be back next time we are in Melbourne.More
