We had an early start and needed a good cup of coffee and breaky. This spot is just, well wow. It was very busy but the welcome and seating was well arranged. Clearly a meeting point for business but as visitors we were made to feel welcome. We shared a large square table and didn't feel awkward. The chilli eggs was just wonderful although as a breakfast a little strong for any weak stomachs.....Coffee was excellent as was the service.

The eggs benedict was delicious and had a Brick Lane spin on it - tabasco hollandaise, fennel salad and pumpkin sourdough. Really yum. It's in a great spot and staff were very friendly. We were handed the bill right after finishing our meals and a few minutes later asked (politely) to move on as people were waiting for our table. While this was somewhat understandable, it was a little disappointing, especially given there was only one small group waiting and other spare seats inside. This soured the experience a little and for this reason I've given four stars.

Excellent place for brunch. Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere on a lovely lane. BF had eggs with pulled pork & I had mushroom melody with poached eggs, both super tasty. Shame we found it on our last day in the city.

We loved that we found this "very Melbourne", cozy and warm cafe in Melbourne. We were served by attentive people and the three of us loved our individual breakfast orders and the coffee was great too. Would certainly return for breakfast next time in Melbourne

Stopped in for breakfast after reading reviews, this is seriously good. Coffee was really good, service fast and coffee hot. We had the Red Chili Scrambled eggs and Mixed Mushroom Medley. Both of these are standout choices. A good amount of heat in the scrambled eggs and the sourdough that it comes on is fabulous. The Mixed Mushroom has 2 poached eggs that are so fresh and delightfully soft, the Kale and spinach add to the great flavour of the mushrooms. Now I would normally leave the bread on a dish like this but again the sourdough is the best. It was so good here we came back 2 days later and tried the Baba Ganoush and Red Chili Scrambled eggs (too good to miss). Baba Ganoush was very good too the halloumi , tomatoes and baba Ganoush were a great combination again with the poached eggs and delicious sourdough. We left full and very happy. This cafe is popular for a reason and I would definitely get a takeaway coffee if I was nearby. Wait staff were all very efficient, helpful and friendly. A true pleasure to visit.

The location, ambience, coffee, food and attentive staff are why I have given 5 stars for this restaurant. My family and I had breakfast here and the food service was so quick, the staff were so friendly and efficient and the food was visually appealing and tasted great. When we left there were so many people out the front waiting for table which I think highlights the popularity of this restaurant. Thanks for the great breakfast!

Cool vibe and atmosphere for family breakfast. GF weekend (busy) but didn’t take away from the experience. Coffee was initially cold but soon fixed 👏 Food was healthy and had modern twist. Would recommend 👍

We did the same as the last few reviews. Google search best breakfast. Google maps stuffed us around abit but was well worth it. The service was excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Even to the point that the meal I was looking at told me that the feedback wasn’t that good. I really appreciate the honesty. The dish she recommended was so nice.
Once arrived was seated within a few minutes and told about the new COVID policy and helped us with filling in.
And the online menu.
We ordered smashed avocado and chilli scrambled eggs. Both arrived within 10 minutes.
Throughout the meal our waitress checked in on us to much sure everything was ok.
Meals are on the large side. 20 to 25 dollars.
So pretty good value.
Overall brick lane definitely is worth the best breakfast google search result
Highly recommended
Will be back for sure.

After a google search, we found this cafe down a side alleyway. Walking up to it and seeing people waiting outside gave us a good feeling we'd found a gem. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table which was expected. When seated, the staff were able to cater for our 18 month old (high chairs were available). All staff were attentive (we were impressed by the waitress remembering our order). Despite how busy they were, the food still came out relatively quickly and was delicious.
If you're going to Melbourne and need a breakfast/brunch cafe, I highly recommend it! They do lunch as well which was just starting when we left (around 12pm).

This place is obviously popular with hipsters who hang out the front in the cold waiting the 30minutes it takes to get a table on Saturday morning (they don’t take reservations). It’s packed with tables inside. Scan the QR code for the menu which I found pretty limited. By 1030am one of the most popular items was sold out and a key ingredient of the next most popular dish also sold out. Coffee was ok but not outstanding. The Big Breakfast was average - minus the sausage, mushrooms unpalatable. I suspect they don’t use salt in cooking? Not great for catching up with friends because we were ushered out at “the end of our dining time” with the offer of takeaway coffee.

Found this place in middle of city and open on weekend. Great it survived the great lockdown.
Coffee is full flavoured and you are told what they are serving. A bit grainier than I like. Long Black is my drink. Grainy seems a bit trendy at moment. Breakfasts were first class. Chilli Scrambled Eggs best I ever tasted. Ordered again following day. Wife ordered Mushroom breakfast day one and breakfast salad day two. Servings are generous. Big enough to abandon only thoughts of lunch. Probably a tad too generous. Great venue Great Breakfast Excellent Coffee
Well Done.

This was the best breakfast of our week in Melbourne and unfortunately we only found it on the last day otherwise we would definitely have been back for more! The coffee was by far the best we found in the week, strong and flavoursome. The staff are lovely and the food was really good. Definitely worth a visit

Booked a 10am table for 2 for brunch with my friend, 2 serves of scrambled eggs and coffee later, we were told at 10.55 that 'this table is booked' please move to the bench under the window on stools.
Although shocked, we obliged and settled into finish our coffee. 5 minutes later, the waiter approached again, and said 'you have to leave' we need this space. Absolutely disgusting. We are never ever coming back again!! There are much better places, with much better service in Melbourne!

We were wandering around the laneways and came across this great cafe.
Everything on the menu sounded delicious. I had the eggs Benedict and it was perfect.
The staff were friendly, the food came quickly and we bought a loaf of sourdough to take home.
A lovely atmosphere too!

Having declined to que during on a Sunday due to the popularity of this restaurant we took the trouble to book and visit mid-week. This was the only restaurant in Melbourne which we visited and which did not have hard copy menus. After logging into WIFI we ordered succesfully. Bit if a faf TBH. I'm starting to feel like a bit of a dinasour. Food was great, staff ultra friendly and helpful. To the owner, why oh why not fix a lock on the one and only toilet door between the loo and the main restaurant. I walked straight in on a very embarassed young girl having not taken the sign 'its occupied if door is closed' seriously. I mean ........ seriously?

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
