This was our second visit to this restaurant and we again chose to sit at the kitchen bench so that we could watch the chefs in action. This turned out to be a great choice as Chef Max prepared and or plated a large number of our dishes and was generous with his time in talking with us generally and describing the dishes. We had the Chef's menu which was a degustation of nine dishes plus a palate cleanser for $130 per person (an increase of $10 over last year). Notwithstanding the small increase in price we thought it was extremely good value given the quality of the dishes. which we thought was very good value. There was a matching beverage option for $90 per person but we opted to choose a bottle from the reasonably extensive wine menu. We also opted to have an extra dish being the duck breast with mushroom and truffle for $15 each per person. The nine courses included three tasters, three entrees, two mains (fish and pork) and a dessert. We thoroughly enjoyed every course and the broad range of different flavours and textures. Our favourite, as per last visit, was the eggplant. Absolutely delicious. The Chefs were excellent in presenting and explaining all of the dishes as well as answering our questions. We have now made this a regular stop on our visits to Hobart.

Our group of 4 friends - visiting from Brisbane - dined at Aloft on Saturday night, and we loved it! The food was delicious, the ambiance was excellent and the service… well, the service was next level. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and just really really lovely. Aloft’s 5 course degustation menu was amazing - great value for the price and absolutely worth the money. Each course was explained to us by the staff and the attention to detail of every element of each dish was genuine, impressive and appreciated. We would like to do a special shout out to Hedley, Cam, Chelsea and Laura. You made our night an incredible and memorable one. We will be talking about Aloft and its amazing food and incredibly friendly staff for a long time to come. Thank you so much. 11/10; would recommend Aloft!

This restaurant is located on the top level of Brooke Street pier with a great view over the water. We chose however to sit at the kitchen bench so that we could watch the chefs in action. This turned out to be a great choice as Chef Max prepared and or plated a large number of our dishes and was generous with his time in talking with us generally and describing the dishes. We had the Chefs menu which was a degustation of nine dishes plus a palate cleanser for $120 per person which we thought was very good value. There was a matching beverage option for $80 per person but we opted to choose a bottle from the nearly 50 wines on the menu. The nine courses included three tasters, three entrees, two mains (fish and pork) and a dessert. Every dish was tasty with some unique flavours and textures and were beautifully presented. It was difficult to pick a favourite but maybe the delicious eggplant entree just beat out the fish main. There were nearly 50 bottles on the wine menu. There was a good selection of wines although the cheapest was $80 and less than half were under $100. The Chefs, particularly Max who was excellent, and the other members of staff were very friendly, informative and efficient. Will absolutely dine here again.

This restaurant left me avery confused. My sister and I went partly on a gift voucher with a top up from me. Firstly, the majority of the food was absolutely delicious. I mean seriously delicious. Yum, Yum, Yum, Yum, Yum. It is a tasting menu and we had nine plates. The only disappointing one was the bigger dish of pork and roasted cabbage. Nothing truly wrong with it just a bit boring The wallaby tartare, the rib and oyster that made up the first course were my favourite and produced gastronomic, orgasmic moans of pleasure. The confusion comes from the feeling the overall experience left us with. The staff were very attentive to our dietary needs; swapping out things my sister couldn't eat for those she could. However we left with the feeling that the focus was on them rather than us as the customer. Yes, they asked us if we enjoyed each dish and which was our favourite but we also felt this had become rote and they were more interested in showing off the cuisine rather than delivering a full dining experience. Also do not go there hungry or with family who have big appetites, it was a full bt not a hearty meal.

What an amazing restaurant! We sat at the bar on a Thursday night and felt completely spoiled from the time we arrived. Tasty creations were crafted right in front of us and the chefs explained every element (and the Tasmanian providence). It was wonderful to see the meals put together with such care and attention to the high standard this restaurant is known for. Our chef Max delivered a beautiful Wallaby tartare, oysters, duck pancake, Kingfish and the crispy chilli eggplant was a highlight as well as the incredible view of the Harbour. Go, you won’t be disappointed!

What a truly amazing experience. We booked late and could only manage to secure a kitchen view seat which turned out to be an absolute winner. Watching the chefs weave their magic while explaining the origins and ingredients of all delicious dishes was delightful. The food was out of this world with every dish melting in your mouth. We paired the wines and every tasting was meticulously explained. If you are in Hobart Aloft is an absolute must visit.

A stunning experience! We tried booking on the day we arrived from Melbourne, with low expectations and took the only option- a shared table at 6.15. We were so impressed with everything about this place. By the time we arrived they had organised a table for two, stunning harbour view, done slight alterations to the chefs menu for me as a Celiac- advised us on wine choices after hearing our preferences… the 5 set courses, the 1st 2 with 3 small bites of delicious local delicacies, most with a slightly Asian twist were beautifully introduced to us, and married well. Service was knowledgeable and attentive. Not inexpensive, but given the intricacy and presentation of the dishes, well worth the cost. Highly recommended.

10/10 for everything. Such a lovely experience all round. Plenty of food and left feeling very satisfied. All the staff are knowledgable about what was being served and as they delivered, every plate was explained. The food was delightful, full of flavour and eloquently placed on the plates. We tried things that we would not normally image eating and was pleasantly surprised. We chose the early setting to take in the waterfront views and did not disappoint.

Restaurant was booked online (3 persons) on 10/01/24 for dinner on 21/02/24 at 6 pm. Hence 42 days notice. The restaurant rang us 7th February to tell us that they were not sure how the booking was made (booked online via their web site & confirmation for 21/02 had been rec'd) and that if we would like to book for another time we could. Unbelievable - never happened to us before; their score is 0/100 for public relations. Beware!!

Aloft is the restaurant we most enjoyed in Hobart during our multi-day stay. We received a warm welcome when we arrived with our large group of friends. One table was ready, the other was not yet vacant - no problem, we were asked if we wanted drinks and told we could view the menu while we waited. Our waitress was actually a former employee who had stepped in for the evening and she was excellent - very professional, efficient, warm and friendly. She made the evening really enjoyable for everyone while accommodating our variety of preferences without even raising any concerns. All of the staff were friendly and we were very well looked after. The tasting menu (there is no a la carte) was both interesting and original. The dishes were well thought out and put together with flavour in mind, making each dish interesting (in a good way). With a mix of Asian and Western dishes, it was a menu that was both light and fresh. A few people substituted dietary options (vegetarian) which were equally as good as everything else we tried. Overall a very enjoyable experience with a chef who is creative and engaged.

We arrived at 7.59 for an 8pm booking. We were seated at approx 8.10, after 20mins or so a waitress finally took a wine order, it was a further 15+ mins before wine arrived. Restaurant wasn’t full and appeared to have plenty of staff but service seemed lacking . Finally a waitress with weird exuberance reviewed the menu. We were relieved when the first course arrived and clearly the chefs knew what they were doing. Food was delicious…. Service VERY average for the standard of restaurant. Maybe if the restaurant was sectioned and staff had their own tables ?? Seemed to lack any organisation front of house.

We went here for our wedding anniversary. What a great place to choose. The food was superb. Having selected the wine and food degustation experience we were treated to an amazing selection of treats. The meals aren't large, but the quality makes up for this. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about all the dishes and the coupling of the alcohol. And as an extra thumbs up the view was great showing off the Derwent and the Hobart waterfront.

From the stunning venue, to the beautiful views, to the thoughtfully curated menu and the impeccable service to match, Aloft has it all and is truly a must-do fine dining experience in Hobart! From my arrival to departure a full three hours later, every step of my experience was flawless. I was seated at the kitchen bar, offering a fascinating insight into the work of the chefs and went for the full chef's menu with paired beverages. The service at the restaurant was spectacular, all staff I encountered were friendly, welcoming, engaging and came across as genuinely keen to provide guests with an enjoyable and memorable experience. Special mention goes to my waiter for the night, Jacob who provided a brilliant explanation of each paired beverage and ensured every aspect of the evening was perfect. The chefs were also friendly and engaging with those seated at the kitchen bar, explaining the contents of each dish and pointing out all the local ingredients which the restaurant had independently sourced. Each course was beautifully presented and tasted delicious, I loved every single dish and throughout the night it just seemed to get better with each course! If I had to pick some highlights it would be the eggplant tempura (which has become a bit of a signature dish for the restaurant) and the wallaby tartare. The paired beverages ranged from very traditional to others that were a bit "out there", but they were all enjoyable and matched incredibly well with their respective courses. In addition to the paired drinks I also ordered the Aloft Spritz to start the night as well as a Walnut liqueur at the end of the night and both were excellent. The ambience at the restaurant is second to none, it has a fabulous location at the Brooke Street Pier just above where the Mona ferry departs and has a wonderful view overlooking the water. Guests were well spaced out whether they were seated at a table or the bar, and the music playlist had some seriously good tunes! Aloft is the sort of restaurant I would recommend for a highlight meal, whatever the occasion. I have been fortunate to dine at some amazing restaurants both in Australia and around the world, and Aloft is up there with the best of them. Give it a go, you won't regret it!

Incredible service. It felt like we were a regular even though we were from Melbourne. Food was amazing and they happily accommodated a tricky food intolerance and I didn’t feel like I had a second string meal which can happen. Would highly recommend.

My partner and I had a wonderful chef's menu experience here with the matching wines. The focus on local produce and the story behind the creations was great to see and all the staff were outstanding - we felt very well looked after. Would highly recommend a visit.
