Tucked away in an old sandstone warehouse on Hobart’s iconic waterfront, Peacock and Jones is a hidden gem that celebrates the beauty of Tasmanian food. If you’re passionate about local produce, give us a visit; from your prime position in the open kitchen you’ll see your food as it’s sliced, smell it as it’s seasoned and hear it as it sizzles. Our menu is constantly changing, because our dishes are driven by what Tasmania grows.

It is a great place with very attentive and friendly service and food prepared with love, understanding and knowledge. Each plate looked beautiful and delivered all the visual promises. Even the humble fries with aioli are so good, you will have problem to remember place...with better. I always have softer spot for restaurants with separate menu for vegetarians but in Peacock and Jones they cook it very well. Little suggestion, maybe less cheesy dishes ? My all eating husband loved his octopus and dory fish meals. We would recommend this restaurant to everyone. One of the best in Hobart.More

We were seated promptly and seemed to be the last table to arrive at 8.30pm. Our waiter was friendly offering sparkling or still water on being seated. A nice G&T delivered shortly thereafter. She then explained the specials to us. It’s a good small menu...and would please most. A vegetarian menu is also available. We were seated out “the back” (which is set in a large enclosed inner courtyard area with heating). You could feel the evening breeze every now and then, but it was refreshing. The restaurant only has a few tables inside from what we could see. You share this area with the kitchen. The toilets are not accessed from within the restaurant but across the inner courtyard area and down an alley way. For entree we ordered the Chicken liver parfait with brioche which was so livery and light. Delicious. The potatoes with Siberian caviar and charcoal was also delicious. Simple and tasty. For mains we ordered the pork chop with smoked leek. The pork was a great cut and very tender. Cooked perfectly. It was a large serve. The King Dory with kohlrabi was excellent, the fish crisp on the outside and flakey inside. A very tasty dish. The mains were accompanied by beautifully cooked green beans. We have a couple of suggestions to improve the experience - the lighting was very bright at our table and we felt like a deer in headlights. Could be dimmed or offset from the table. Also after closing off the kitchen and winding up the evening - if staff need to be polishing cutlery or setting up glasses on tables for the next day etc - please do this quietly and secretly. We felt like we were hurried to leave and it just ruined the thought of ordering more drinks or coffee etc. Cost for 2 people (including gin, bottle of wine, plus whisky and Cointreau ) was $295 plus tip. Our waiter was friendly and very good. The vibe was a bit flat and robotic from others. Well done to the chefs and the kitchen.More

Apart from an excellent meals of octopus/lambs ribs as appetisers and beautifully cooked duck and vegetables as our mains , we had a lovely Syrah with our meal. Everything was perfect, the service wonderful thanks to Paula our waitress. The tables were widely separated, and...the noise level very low despite the restaurant being full. We will return on our next visit to Hobart.More

Disappointing... was very excited to visit this restaurant but unfortunately left very disappointed.. from the get go service was not up to standard... staff lacking in wine Knowledge, bread and entrees arrived before wine was served. I specified for my meals to be lactose free...and was assured the kitchen was notified of this... when entrees arrived it was served with the dairy element... main meals arrived and were very under seasoned. when leaving and walking past the kitchen the floor was slippery as they were cleaning down which is a major HAZZARD. all in all .. not worth the money they are charging. service definitely not up to standard and floor staff need MAJOR training... pick up your game because there are much nicer places in Hobart to eat in the same price range.More
