Jackman & McRoss are a bit of an institute here in Hobart. It was still pumping at 3pm on a weekday, and the cabinet full of tantalising treats. We stopped by for a late lunch - my daughter got the better pick with the roasted lamb & vegetables on a yorkshire pudding. The coffee was disappointing so I'd definitely recommend... More

We went to the bakery recently. It was perfect fare on a cold rainy day. But this is a dangerous place!! So many cakes to choose from. I couldn't make up my mind. Mmm chose the lemon passion fruit pie. We had the scallop pie and Brie, sun dried tomato, caramelised onion tart. Lovely little street filled with old shops... More

Stayed nearby and had a very nice and reasonably priced breakfast on our first morning and bought some fresh pies when leaving to have later. Visited the next morning too and received the same good service and warm welcome.

Good coffee, good selection of tasty comestibles. Best hidden feature: the underground loo ... be sure to visit.

Older staff were rude but young staff were lovely. Coffee was undrinkable and burnt. Just stick with the sweets and get them take-away. Caramel slice was beautiful.

It was good coffee (I had long black coffee). I also had their lamington which was one of the best I have tasted so far. I bought their strawberry jam too. It was great.

Jackman and McRoss is a beautiful little cafe offering incredible food at affordable prices. We enjoyed a lovely risotto cake topped with goat's curd and mushrooms and a calzone filled with chicken and pesto among other delicacies. The hot cross buns are one of the best I have tasted so if you do nothing else but go there for a... More

A scallop pie the day before was an teaser to lure me back the next day. Good food, engaging service and excellent coffee. Great start to the day.

Happened upon this place while walking- had read about it in a number of tourist brochures- so thought we would give it a try. How lucky were we! Delicious cakes, great coffee- no wonder the locals frequent it.
