Food & staff are the standouts here with a distinct Spanish/ Basque feel. Literally, something for everyone, Tapas for starters and plenty on offer for mains. You could easily have a fabulous dining experience just on Tapas dishes alone. But if you can't make up your mind there is a $75 Feed Me menu which consists of Chefs Picks. They have an excellent wine list and they self describe their restaurant as cosy. It's not "cosy" but it is delightful. Staff are attentive and knowledgeable about the food and the wine. The dry-aged beef tasted like venison in fact we had to check that it wasn't. The back strap of lamb was beautifully cooked and melt in the mouth. Well done on the use of Tunnel Hill Mushrooms, used as a Tapas dish and complimented in sauces. It's pricey but I suppose that depends on your wallet but it is a fabulous eating experience.
However! Staff have been taught to only pour a glass at the table and remove the wine. Nasty habit. The wine we selected was not opened in front of us, was decanted which was much appreciated but we then had to continually ask for refills. As a result post desert, there was still a glass of wine left in the carafe that we only noticed by accident. At $90.00 a bottle be sure I want to drink the wine and not leave it for staff.
The menu is written in a script that is borderline illegible in the low light. We actually asked a staff member what a particular line said and she struggled to read it, took it into the kitchen and came back to tell us what it was. A simple fix that I cannot believe the Owners have not noticed.

The restaurant was relatively quiet for a Friday lunch service, approx 25% of capacity. The service was very attentive and friendly. We opted for the 'feed me' menu for $75pp which was excellent for a business lunch where making food decisions is a secondary consideration! The flavours were excellent and the portions were generous. Music was a little loud but otherwise the atmosphere was sophisticated and comfortable.

Amazing food, every plate served was delicious!!
Plenty of cocktails to choose from. The setting was very nice too.
We couldn't decide which one we wanted to eat so we opt for the Chef to decide for us. For $75 we were served 9 different plates, which every plate was full of flavour.
We'll be back!

The moment you walk in the door, you feel special. The lighting is low with accents that instantly make you feel warm and safe. The wait staff are attentive but not overbearing and they're extremely knowledgeable. It was hard to make a choice on the stunning menu for both entrees and mains, so we decided to go with the 'Feed Me' option at $80pp. It was exceptional. The delivery of the dishes was perfectly paced with a great description provided for each. My dessert even had a Happy Birthday message on it. We loved our evening and will certainly be returning and would definitely recommend to friends and tourists visiting Hobart! Thanks to all of the wait staff (Ashley in particular) and chefs for a very memorable Birthday Celebration!

We made a dinner booking for 6.30pm and as we were a large group, we were told (after a lot of initial confusion) that we would have to have the set menu.
The first round of dishes came out fairly quickly but with each additional dish, the wait times became longer….and longer………..and longer! It was close to 10pm by the time dessert arrived on the table, by which time, most of the group were tired and fed up.
Had the food been amazing, we may have given this place another try but it was truly underwhelming and not all all worth the high price.
The wait staff were friendly and attentive but that’s all that impressed us about The Black Footed Pig. We will not go back.

The team at Black Footed Pig were simply outstanding! My parents celebrated their golden anniversary at the restaurant.
The personal and attentive service to ensure the set menu accommodated allergies and dietary requirements was amazingly good and unexpected.
The night itself was perfect from the culinary conjuring to the warm friendly service.
What a terrific all round experience and big thanks to the whole team at BFP!

Exceptional service, brilliant beverages and incredible food! We couldn’t rate our experience higher. We had a beautiful meal! The bonus for me is I have allergies and it is always hard to dine out but we had 7 courses with all the trimmings! The kitchen staff provided dishes for me I was able to eat which is so rare and I am truly thankful. If something needed to be swapped out it was replaced with something equally lovey. I never felt like I was missing out which I usually do when singing out. The beverage menu was exceptional and the staff were knowledgeable, friendly and made you feel special. 10/10 and 5 gold stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

We visit the Black Footed Pig about once a year. In previous times, we have been very happy with our meals and the service has always been outstanding. The quality of the food and the service was still amazing, although the food portions seemed smaller than our previous visits. I would recommend this restaurant as a 'fine dining' experience and encourage future diners to order at least one tapas and one larger dish as a minimum. Or at least select the Chefs Menu to try a variety of dishes. We ordered the trout as a tapas, and the octopus (my favourite and was cooked to perfection) and the lamb as the larger dishes. Each dish was beautifully prepared and was worth the price.

From the time we arrive to the time we leave ... the service at The Black Footed Pig is exceptional - appropriately friendly without being intrusive without long wait times for drinks or food. The food arrives over a leisurely time (but not slow) so can be enjoyed fully and is beautiful and delicious. Starting with 4 tapas to share (which always includes at lease one serve of the The Duck Fat Potato) and then also sharing a serve of the most tender and flavoursome Octopus we were certainly very full when we left. Not being a big sweet tooth and being so full, we were not too disappointed to miss dessert but were surprised at the small dessert menu. Looking forward to our next visit in the new location.

Given the reviews, we were very disappointed. Very overrated. Location was nice, but food was low standard.
For a tapas restaurant there were only half a dozen tapas choices available.
Our prawn tapas dish ( entree size ) was burnt let alone it cost $28 for just this serving.
However, The empanadas was very nice.

Excellent meal, service and great atmosphere. We had the set menu which was great apart from the birthday girl not being a pork eater, when that course arrived the staff provided her with a fish alternative which was a nice touch. Desert came out with a candle for the obligatory aweful rendition of Happy Birthday

Rang up on a Friday night in the unlikely chance they had availability for that evening and was informed that we could sit at the bar and order from the full menu. Decided to go ahead with the booking and so glad we did! The experience at the bar was fantastic and I recommend that they offer it as a booking option on their website.
In regards to the menu, because we couldn't decide with so many delicious sounding options we opted for the $80 per head 'Just Feed Me' menu, and the waiter asled if there was anything we didn't eat. Our selection included a selection of starters including oysters, the most delicious seared blue fin tuna, lamb with a side of cauliflower and patatas bravas for mains, along with one of the most delicious duck confits I've had! Dessert was also spectacular and you couldn't fault the food or attentive service.
Definitely one of the better experiences we've had dining in Hobart. Highly recommended.

We were a group of four. We were impressed by the professionalism of the waiting staff. The premises was clean and light with pleasant decor but nothing really "ethnic" to match the theme of the restaurant. Some of the dishes we ordered were great in terms of flavour and presentation while others were less impressive. Serving sizes were quite small.
Overall we felt that the food was well over priced. Mark up on wines and other drinks was steep and basically this is seen as greed on the part of the restaurant owners.

We had only dined at this restaurant on one previous occasion, nearly four years ago, before the restaurant moved to its current premises. On that occasion the food had been very tasty but the service was amiss. Not so on this visit. The food was just as good and the service was very friendly and efficient. The new modern premises in the bottom of the MACq01 Hotel were, in my opinion, a definite upgrade on the old. The only problem was that where we were seated, at the tables that used the bench seats along the side wall, the lighting was poor. I needed to turn my phone light on to read the menu and also to properly see the dishes as they arrived. A shame given they all tasted so good.
The menu was quite extensive and contained a number of very appealing dishes. There was a choice from four starters, 10 different tapas ($11 - $26), eight larger dishes (Raciones $28 - $43) and three sides ($10 - $13).
We had the Catalan style Spring Bay mussels, wild octopus with potato and corn migas, the pork cheek with apple and celeriac with a side of Catalan mixed greens. All of the dishes were very flavoursome and the octopus was very tender.
Wine list, I thought, had a good selection of both local and overseas varieties. We had a Hughes and Hughes Pinot Noir costing $67.
Service was very friendly and efficient. Would definitely dine here again.

We were excited to visit the new black footed pig restaurant but left disappointed. The food was presented well but lacked in flavour and taste, for example the potatoes were so salty we could hardly eat them. The octopus main was chewy and priced at over $30 for a very small portion and the market fish was with some sort of weird sweet beetroot sauce which did not compliment it at all.
The general atmosphere of the place was good, location is great and the service was fine. Overall, very expensive for what it is, won’t be going back or recommending.
