This is a fabulous restaurant set up in a converted home cleverly decorated to give you the feel of being in provincial France. The hostess gave us a warm welcome and was very attentive to our needs. The food was amazing, I had the steak, my husband had the beef cheeks both delicious. The restaurant is licensed and BYO, we... More

Delicious french onion soup, salmon with vegetable prepared deliciously - I couldn't fit the tarte tartin in unfortunately but I'm sure it would have also been delectable.

Traditional French food - very delicious. Full of local Hobart people and regulars who know how great it is. We had well priced French wine. Service very friendly. Overall a really wonderful evening out.

We have been there on two occasions. Our anniversary, and later on with a group of friends. The food is typically south-west of France, with nice flavours. This is not a modern cooking restaurant, so don't expect fancy presentation. The serving is generous, and the waitress (also the cook's wife) is very kind. The place is small, so make sure... More

Amazing French cuisine in this Hobart institution that has stood the test of time for thirty years. My wife and I both had the pork belly terrine and then eye fillet with a generous serve of peppercorn sauce. Previous trips the béarnaise sauce has been equally divine. Steaks don't come with a steak knife as you can cut through them... More

The menu is tweaked each season, but a good meal is guaranteed and many of the favourites make an appearance on each menu. Take your best wine and enjoy a great night.

Restaurants come nd go. Those that last a while do so because they deserve to. Le Provenal has been there for as long as I can remember, yet strangely this was the first time I'd eaten there. It's small and cosy, although not really intimate. It was a cold night and the restaurant wasn't completely full, althugh we had booked.... More

Where to start? The food at Le Provencal is without a doubt the best food I've ever eaten, flavour-full, well balanced and cooked to perfection. The portions are also excellent, you will definitely not go hungry! It is a bit more pricey than some restaurants but it is 100% worth it! Service is always good! The decor is very 'unique'... More

It's been many years since dining here but we found the food and service to be as delightful, delicious and fresh as ever. From pan fried chicken livers to quail, seafood, lamb, pork and then berries, the menu reflected nicely the local produce, cooked to perfection by the man in the kitchen. Seasonal menus change of course but long-time favourites... More
