Touch and go here, but I have always had a good experience and been happy with the service and food. The place has not changed for years, and that is not a bad thing in keeping the hipsters at bay. generally I have found the food to be fresh and tasty and fast and the serving generous and you can... The food is already prepared in a bain marie but it has a fast turnover so does not look tired. The meals are generous with big bowls of soup and even a small plate is adequate for most people. Alcohol is available if wanted. You order and pay at the counter. basic but good food.

The worst dining experience I have ever had. Not a fussy eater & our two kids will normally enjoy almost anything. Not tonight. A plate of "fried rice" was just gluggy stuck together steamed rice with some carrot & peas through it. Very very dry, zero flavour. The sweet and sour pork had very little sauce, the pork was chewy,... More

Having just arrived in Hobart, we walked down to Salamanca Markets for dinner - without dressing up first. There were many fine dining restaurants, with prices to match. All were packed to the rafters, and had a dress code that would have left us out of place if we had managed to find a seat. We ended up eating at... More

We asked a couple of times to clean the table but they were too busy. It was dirty. We were asked to eat inside because they would not clean outside. At the end just took away the dirty used plates. The Duck wasn't eatable. They argued that "that's how duck is" but replaced it at the end with fried chicken... More

We ordered 2x combinatibeef pho: The noodles were wrong - we got vermicelli insteead of rice noodles, and the broth was a bit lacking in flavour. Cold rolls - So cold they must have been pre-made and came out of a fridge. Noodles inside were rubbery. Poor value. Crab claws - Undercooked, with the crumb/batter coating still doughy inside. Service:... More

Great Vietnamese food right on Salamanca Market, and if you get there on a Saturday, it's bound to be full, as the market covers all the surrounding streets and is bustling. Good cheap food if you're on a budget, or evening dining.

Often go here after the market, or after work - its reliable quality, and the restaurant although its very casual- is generally and reliably clean. Teh chidlren liek it - there is enough variety for them to choose. Good range of frit juices and other drinks available. feed yourself well for $15-20

This is an OK place to pop into if you want something quick and easy. I have had the laksa several times in the past and it was excellent. My latest visit was confusing - so many signs and pictures it was hard to know what was what and what cost what and what the different size servings were. It... More

It is the best cheap eats in Salamanca. It is a family restaurant, Tan, the owner does the cooking, Oanh, the wife runs the front of the restaurant during the day. The restaurant is basic, that explains the economic way the restaurant is run. Children are welcome, but expect to kids to demand an icecream on the way out. I... More
