What a wonderful experience we had at The Point last night. Having not been to this iconic restaurant for some years we were absolutely delighted with the exceptional service and beautifully presented dishes.
We were so grateful for the care and attention offered by Justin, who was able to reassure my wife who is a coeliac, that almost every dish could be prepared by the excellent chef and kitchen staff to accommodate her gluten intolerance!
The wine menu was well priced and extensive with some excellent Australian wines available.
Justin was always there to look after us during the two and a half hours that we stayed to enjoy the beautiful views, and the ambiance offered in this lovely restaurant.
Justin made excellent suggestions on what might suit our tastes. We chose three excellent offerings from the set menu, which were priced well at $105. I had the lobster souffle, whilst Elizabeth had the heirloom tomato salad with mozzarella cheese as an entree.
The short rib and lamb mains were outstanding with the excellent peach dessert so beautifully presented completing one of the nicest meals we have had for some time.
Having such excellent staff as Justin and his colleagues looking after us during our meal and the highly gifted and professional team in the kitchen will encourage us to return to this wonderful restaurant again soon.
A perfect night in a perfect setting with views of the Derwent River, Mount Wellington, and the surrounding suburbs of Hobart to entertain us during our meal.

We were a party of three celebrating a birthday. We all thoroughly enjoyed our drinks, meals and the ambience, it was a great night. We arrived at 7pm and we had a leisurely experience, we never felt rushed and the service was attentive, professional and friendly. The standout meals were the oysters, the twice cooked lobster soufflé and the Black Forest dessert, but everything was delicious. The restaurant is lovely and the view divine, no matter what the weather is like. We look forward to returning for another special occasion

What a lovely way to eat dinner watching the water then the hills then the city. We had a very delicious dinner with a great waiter and one who also cooked our steak flambé style at our table. Theatrical but great. All meals were fabulous. Such a great evening.

High expectations.......total disappointment.
My Partner and I booked well in advance for Christmas lunch while enjoying the fabulous views over Sandy Bay and Hobart.
An appealing Menu of 5 Courses whet the appetite.
First offering was a small dish of Turkey Ragout with creamy mash potato.....absolutely delicious....first box ticked....
Entrees came after a small interval, consisting of a plate of Prawns, four, neither hot nor cold, a Cos lettuce Salad, looking like yesterday's leftovers, an epic fail....
Another interval, and a glass of wine,
came Main Course.
Mine was Lamb with more of the previous Salad, the lamb was slightly underdone, but acceptable. The salad was passed over.....
Partner was served Duck with the same salad.....the Duck was inedible, and again the salad passed over.
Yet another "polite" interval, and Dessert was delivered, Christmas Pudding, a slightly bitter cake, but with delicious Brandy Custard and Cream...box ticked.
Partner enjoyed her Pavlova with Berries and Cream.
We passed on the Parfait, and left early.
A highly disappointing experience, given the excellent reviews and reputation over a long history......

It's like being transported back to 1999. The food is very dated & playing it safe in a way that feels behind the times. The main casino area seems to be recently renovated but the restaurant doesn't seem to match. The windows were dirty and the decor was also dated.
The food was decent but no where near worth the price being charged. The steak here is more expensive than the top steak house in Sydney while lacking the flavours & quality. Nothing on the menu gives the impression of local, quality ingredients and that remained true once receiving the dishes.
This restaurant could have so much more potential by crafting a menu that takes advantage of the high quality local produce that & global influences instead of basic classic French style dishes. Additionally they have table side cooking but no exhaust fans or ventilation so the entire restaurant smells like cooking oil and smoke.

Our booking was for 7pm but I would recommend going around 7.30-8pm due to the sun on one side of the building being too bright and hot. The food was amazing, there wasn’t really anything we didn’t like. I had quail for the first time and my partner had the oysters. Our mains were fish which my partner had and I had Steak Diane which was cooked at the table and was so tender and lovely. My partner had the pistachio cake and I had the cheese plate for dessert. The cheeses with the fruit was a great way to finish off. Our waitress Lotus was lovely and all the staff were friendly. Our only complaint was we ordered a drink and we reminded the staff 30 minutes later - we got the glass of wine for free but the delay was annoying. We also waited 50 minutes for our dessert and again had to speak with staff who said there was a glitch with their ticketing (and there might have been). Either way we would go back for the views, experience and food - they just need to nail the service and it would be perfect as their staff are really friendly.

Excellent food and extremely friendly staff, I will say though - I’ve been to a few different revolving restaurants and the whole restaurant usually spins - this one doesn’t, it’s just sort the the floor that you sit on that rotates, the windows don’t move which gave me motion sickness, not too much but worth noting as I don’t usually suffer with this so if you do, may affect you a lot too.
The food was very nice, we did three courses for $99, it was worth the money for the food and the view.
Although, the cheese board was the worst cheese board I’ve ever had, everything was so dry and didn’t have much taste, so would avoid this
Probably best to go just before sunset if possible

We arrived at sunset, so we rent around once with daylight and a second time as the lights came on and the sun went down.
The meal was three course prix fixe, with choices for each course plus a palate cleanser to start. I would have liked a second short rib on my plate, but there was nothing to complain about regarding the service or the quality of the food.
A great dining experience!

My husband and I booked dinner here, with spectacular views as the restaurant rotates, however, this is where we became very disappointed. My husband received his meal well before mine, whilst the chef started cooking mine at my table, which is a nice touch, but at a later point. Therefore, my husband ate his meal on his own. I ordered fillet mignon with mushroom, Pernod, and cream sauce. I expected my little fillet to remain whole, instead, Chef sliced it into 3 pieces. My meat was ok but not how I expected it to be served and my next complaint was the potato on my plate, which was meant to have a crispy texture but was soft and the inner part tasted like it had been reheated a few times over, definitely not just cooked. My hubby had Sirloin steak and we had a glass of wine each for a total of $172 in total. It was such a shame the food didn't marry up with the great view. Would not visit again!

If you have ever been to a revolving restaurant before I would suggest giving this a skip, as the price you are paying is for it only and not the food. The bread provided at the start of the meal was the best . We ordered the 2 flame main course (beef and prawns) and they completely lacked any flavour or quality produce (which you get accustomed too when in tasmania as the local produce is so fresh and to die for) . The places was also very smokey because of all the table side cooking and the fact that the restaurant seems to lack air circulation (it is a decades old building).

Although we already knew the location on L 17 of Wrest Point Casino was Stunning , the Food extended this Experience beyond our expectations. Toby , the head chef , delivered the most sensational array of dishes , with matching Wines to add to our Special Occasion, being the culmination of our trip around Tasmania ..
Staff were courteous, informed and we were never rushed .. Would highly recommend a Visit and Dinner here ..

The service and food very amazing.
I went with my daughter.
All the food was amazing. Not one complaint.
We were offered a choice of sparkling or still water (which was cold) when we sat down.
We were given an Amuse Bouché each to start.
We were also offered a small roll with a choice of white, wholemeal, rye or sourdough along with a pat of butter.
We then had in order of mine and then my daughters:
Entree:
Soufflé - double baked Tasmanian rock lobster
Braised Scottsdale pork belly
Main:
Flambé Prawns (which was cooked at our table)
Isle & Sky Tasmanian organic chicken
Dessert:
Flambé Crêpes Suzettes (which was cooked at our table).
We also had a couple of cocktails each.
The service was very fast, the food was delicious and hot.
The server we had Justin was amazing. He was funny and very attentive. He made the meal a pleasure to enjoy.
Will definitely be coming back again.

Dropped in to this restaurant on a whim while on a weekend holiday in Hobart, so I wasn't dressed for an expensive night out, but I didn't look shabby either. I probably looked a bit like Mike Cannon-Brookes (one of Australia's wealthiest people, who doesn't wear a suit). From the minute I walked in, staff treated me like I had no money. First I was told the restaurant was fully booked (it was completely empty). Then I was shown the menu at the door, to make sure I would want to dine there before I could have a table. When I finally scored a table, I was told there was a minimum order of two entree or one mains dish per person. The friendly smiles of the staff barely concealed their condescending attitude, and it completely ruined an otherwise enjoyable meal. I couldn't wait to leave, and they couldn't wait to get rid of me.
The haloumi and the artichoke dishes were delicious and well-presented. But the risotto was miserly, soggy, and lacklustre.
This is a really lovely restaurant totally ruined by snobbery.

The staff at the restaurant are wonderful and friendly. And the meals were delicious -more expensive than the normal but definitely worth it and not one of those meals from a fine dining experience that come out and you think you have already eaten it. We were full.

WOW, what an amazing restaurant. The Restaurant is superb, the food was absolutely delicious and the staff were fantastic. We had a duck croquet complimentary from the chef (delicious) I had a soufflé Rock Lobster (delicious) then Flambé prawns with mild curry (delicious) Dessert was also delicious Flambé Crepe Suzette with Orange Icecream . Then chef gave us another little treat a small chocolate basket with mousse inside 😋 Our main waiter was Justin and he made our night even more awesome. Well Done to all. Definitely will be back and would recommend to anyone
