We stopped here for dinner without a reservation and were placed at a table not far from the open door, through which bitterly cold air was coming in, and they had the ceiling fans on. Eventually one of the waitstaff realised we were cold and...closed the door, but the staff were in and out anyway. The tables are quite close to each other so no intimate dinners here, and definitely no chance to socially distance! As more people arrived the noise level went up significantly, which wasn't pleasant. We could have dealt with these inconveniences if the food had been great...it wasn't. I opted for a lamb ragu, which was salty and I had to hunt for the lamb. My partner chose the seafood marinara, which was filled with pippis (we use these for bait) and one small piece of fish. The cost wasn't cheap either. We decided not to bother with dessert and return to our warm apartment.More

Friendly staff. Clean and tidy resturant with definite Italian flavour to the decor. Food was good. Fresh flavours. The salmon was cooked to perfection Anna or friend loved the chicken. Care going to the ammenities as there is a sneaky slow. A lovely evening.

We’ve enjoyed Maldini on numerous occasions. The food never changes. It’s always exceptional, there is a core group of staff that are fabulous on the service front. For the first time ever, I have to say that the service we received was not to the...usual standard. We waited way too long for drinks, we ordered sides that didn’t arrive and in general the young bloke assigned to our area was more interested in chatting to his work colleagues. I’m sorry but Maldini goes way down the list of Hobart favourites for us after this experience.More

After strolling around Salamanca Place we decided on lunch at Maldini. Our waitress was very friendly and inviting. I decoded on the 'Frutti di Mare' which was the most amazing seafood soup with a very generous serve of fresh local seafood. My partner had the...Fusilli pasta with beef ragu and really enjoyed it too. The outside table had a lovely view to Salamanca Place and we sat and sipped Negronis and beers and watched the world go by. Just beautiful!More

We loved this restaurant - delicious food, good atmosphere and great service. We all really enjoyed our meals, and they were happy to make any menu item into a kids’ serve. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Been twice in the last couple of months and many times over the years, NEVER disappoints. Food is excellent and service wonderful! Wouldn’t mind visiting other places in Hobart, but just keep coming back!

Visited last night as a special date night. Was surprised at the seating-as we were so close to the couple beside us, it was uncomfortable. Restaurant was very busy, service was efficient-but lacked that special something that would entice you back. Food. My husband enjoyed...his. I had the chicken dish with polenta. I have not had polenta before and was disappointed when it came out-looked like a bowl full of scrambled eggs…too much polenta! Rocket chucked on one side and chicken on the other. The chicken was ok, but nothing to rave about. Prices are quite expensive-but if the food is good, then it’s money well spent. One thing I would like to bring to your attention as I think it’s a safety issue…the bathroom! As you open the door, there is a ramp with quite a dip. There is a sign on the floor saying watch your step-but how many people look down when walking through a door? I almost fell. Perhaps a sign on the door at eye level? We came, we tried and probably won’t be back.More

I visit Maldini’s every time I visit Hobart and it never disappoints. And again this time the food was delicious. Great menu selection, great service and lovely sitting under the outdoor heaters (our choice) watching the world go by in Salamanca Place. So relaxing

This would be quite unusual for anyone in this restaurant to raise their voices and if you got upset with them Cassie then it was good that you left. If you cannot understand that people will not put up with being abused by... More
