As soon as the doors open at eight am there is a steady stream of regulars getting their take away coffee . The ladies behind the counter are always friendly and chatty . Great breakfast menu , my fav is the granola at the moment with the seasonal fruit and honey . Usually end up having a second coffee it... More

A cute & historic cafe in the 'midtown' precinct, with great takeaway toasted wraps and excellent coffee. Surrounded by independent retail stores and services, near the new UTAS residential development. Cool area!

We dropped in for breakfast. Modest, a little cramped, but charming. Obviously popular and busy, but we received fast friendly service and a good breakfast with fine coffee at a very good price. Island cafe is excellent value.

I had breakfast here twice while in Hobart. It's a nice looking little place and the prices were very reasonable compared to other cafes I passed on Elizabeth St. The staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was very good, though I didn't much like the coffee (maybe just a personal taste issue) so chose tea on my second visit, which... More

Island Espresso (Island Cafe) is an amazing find just up Elizabeth St and away from the center. It has 3 levels which include a sun room, lounge area and an upstairs cottage style seating area. Very warm and cozy feeling and quite good food too. The iced coffee here is great as are the other offerings. Solid ownership. Additionally, it's... More

A great little cafe which was a little cheaper than competitors. We had eggs benny, and a range of eggs on toast - all eggs overdone which was a pity. Speedy service - good coffee.

Just popped in for a light bite and coffee. Ordered wraps and latte. It food was nice as was the coffee but nothing special. Staff were pleasant and friendly. The cafe is quite quirky and certainly different.

Island Cafe makes one of the best coffees in Hobart, but tell them if you want your coffee hot, like I do. Next time, they will remember. Their breakfasts are very good and their snacks ditto. I like the quirky nature of the old building, with the lounges and a wonderful upstairs space.

Came here to find some wifi to do some quick work. Ordered a coffee and a baked good and both were great. There was no attitude when i took out my mac as well (lot's of places hate people on their wifi). Staff was friendly.
