Just flown in from Sydney and checked in at our Hotel in Hobart and hit upon Fish Frenzy for a late lunch. Could eat Al Fresco and ordered a Sharing Seafood Platter for 4 people which was amazing. You pay when ordering, which we prefer, and the food we decided upon was their seafood selection for up to four people which was very nicely cooked and presented. Oddly as I can never get through the chips when ordering fish dishes there was a paucity of chips on this occasion, but the main attraction was the seafood which was sublime! The staff there were very friendly and professional. Would highly recommend.

Busy seafood restaurant on Hobart waterfront serving a range of seafood. We had battered fish and chips which were really delicious washed down with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. All reasonably priced and service both quick, efficient and friendly.

The 'Fish Frenzy' is a terribly busy place, but when I ordered food at the counter on the second evening and told them the number of my table, the response was: 'That's the same number you had the last time!'. Quite incredible. The atmosphere in this restaurant at Elizabeth Pier on Hobart's Waterfront is similar to the one at 'Mures Lower Deck', a bit further down on Victoria Dock, with a separate counter for food and drink. Only here there is no ice cream parlour and much more outdoor seating. Keen on local seafood I ordered on the frist evening a 'Grilled Tasmanian Blue Eye Trevalla', a fish from the southern seas I didn't know, until I found out that I had eaten it in New Zealand, where it is called 'Bluenose'. Firm flesh, delicate flavour. With it one could ask for chips or a salad: Garden, Greek, Caesar or Crunchy Herb (my choice). The salad Sauce is served apart. The second evening I tried 'Grilled Tasmanian Scallops'. It was not their season in November, thus frozen, but I still liked it. What I didn't change was the side salad. On both evenings I tasted two different Tasmanian white wines by the glass. Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc were my favourite, followed by Chardonnay, while I didn't like the Riesling.

Stopped here for dinner. Food came quickly, and the price was ok. We had the 'fish frenzy', and the fish and scallops were good, but the calamari was chewy. Quality was ok for the price, for a sit down meal. I would go again, but perhaps not have the calamari.

A very well located cafe right on the waterfront which offered a good variety of cooked seafood. A large menu ensures that most diners would be happy with what is on offer and once ordered, you received your orders in very quick time even though there are lots of customers. Very relaxing atmosphere with both inside and outside tables and as close to the water as you can get. Worth a visit and is recommended.

I highly recommend the fish wrap and chips, served in a giant paper cone. The chips were thick and perfectly cooked. Sit outside if you can (inside can get a bit noisy if it's full), it's a gorgeous atmosphere right on the harbour. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Enjoyed a beautiful selection of fresh seafood sitting outside one early evening in January but we did need jackets. Food was fresh and chips were awesome. Hot thick and crisp. To eat quality seafood please remember it’s not the old greasy corner shop so expect to pay a reasonable amount for a good meal.

Met with friends for a casual catch up. The location is nice as at time the yachts from the races surrounded. We sat outside on the night and it was not busy as a storm was looming and many places had been shut in preparation. Five had fish and chips, basically fried fish that was either battered or crumbed, not available as grilled. And I had the scallops and salad. The salad was nice, the scallops coated and fried and basic. Give me pan seared any day. The level of this meal could have been had at Mures or any of the fish punts at the dock. But it’s ok if that’s all you want. If you want great seafood go to Blue Eye it is more expensive but it’s a solid five, every time.

Not a great experience here, though lovely location. Food was average compared to other seafood places visited in Hobart. Unfortunately the gluten free dishes were not gluten free, even though they had (GF) next to them on the menu. The scallops came with a salad that had croutons in it, the prawns came with a large bread roll on the side. I would recommend you change your menu to (GFO) rather than (GF) - (GF) usually means the dish is gluten free whereas (GFO) is gluten free option which perhaps seems to be what you were aiming for. My husband is coeliac and thankfully I tried the salad first and found the crouton otherwise it would have been a terrible end to our trip to Hobart!

Essentially a carbon copy of Mures lower deck this fish and chip shop serves various seafood based dishes in a casual self servicing dining setting. Food was decent and reasonably priced. Given its location away from Constitution Wharf it wasn't as busy as its competitors meaning tables were easier to find

Been going there for years now and never thought of writing another review. Cheery and often quite busy but there is always a place. Service and staff are always happy and efficient. Seafood is fresh, well prepared and presented. The kitchen, which is open to view, know what they are doing. Bruny Island oysters are fresh and shucked daily. Chowder is excellent, up there with Boston Clam. Outlook over the harbour is good for the soul.

Partner and I went there expecting with such an amazing location and previous reviews for it to be amazing, but at the end we were very nonplussed about it. Fish was cooked well and nicely battered, but for the high price you’d expect them to include chips or to be better in general. Lots of fish & chips shops around doing same standard for cheaper.

This place never fails to please me. The outdoor sweating is great for a lazy afternoon watching the world go by as you eat. Fish wrap is my favourite and it’s cool that if you want a cocktail you can just jump next door to t42 and oder there

As soon as we landed in Hobart our Uber driver, Airbnb host, and Walking Tour guide all had recommendations for Fish and Chips. Most started with Fish Frenzy then talked about their second favorite and commented on the healthy competition that runs as deep as the Derment river through Hobart. We intended to visit several establishments to join in the taste test. But time ran out so we only did Fish Frenzy. It was lovely. Fast service—insanely fast considering how many people come in and out! Fresh, light fish with perfect crispy crust. Great to sit outside on the pier and know that the fish is SO fresh and pulled from the cleanest water in the planet.

Passing through Hobart we read the exceptional reviews on Fish Frenzy. The flake fish was absolutely delicious in a light beer batter. Parking is a challenge in downtown Hobart but once we found a place the walk along the pier was enjoyable. If possible visit this restaurant during non-peak hours unless you plan to take away. Service was quick and friendly and prices were high mid-range. They offer an ala cart menu.
