Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a great meal at this family run Italian restaurant. Portions were large and I couldn’t finish the risotto which was excellent. Deffo worth a visit

Looking for a legit Italian resto in Hobart? Head on to Don Camillo at Sandy Bay and you won't regret it. The arancini al funghi is to die for. Gnocchi with lamb was yummy not to mention the fig pudding and cassata... Could hardly get...up from our seats after😋😋😋 personalised service from the owners, Dino and his dad. Will definitely come back to try the other dishes.More

Members of our family first visited this Hobart institution in the 1970s and again with new members a decade later. The owner and staff have changed across the decades but the experience has always been positive. This week on a cold Thursday evening we introduced...another adult family member to the checked tablecloths, the crooning music of Dean Martin and the warm happy buzz that Don Camillo offers diners. The excellent pear and cheese salad served with fresh bread primed our tastebuds. The veal and vegetables main dish was a melt in the mouth delight and the light Italian red wine was a perfect partner. Service was friendly and the kitchen provided the meals in good time. We will definitely be back before a decade next time.More

Everything was just right here, the food, the staff, the environment, and the atmosphere. In particular the staff were friendly and attentive, remembering us between visits. The food was the best Italian we have had in a long time.

The Don Camillo continues to hold its place as an old-fashioned Italian restaurant with good food. It probably doesn't matter whether you like Pasta or their meat dishes Don Camillo serves up the traditional Italian dish just has it has for decades. If you haven't...been in a while go along. Better book though as the night we went the place was full.More

A popular place, which doesn’t seem to have changed much from my memories. The service was efficient and friendly. The mains were large, so we were glad, that we only had some garlic bread as a starter. The food was very tasty, even if the...dishes weren’t quite, how we know them. The place cleared out very early.More

The service was fast and food was good, they squeezed us (a family of 2 adults and 3 children) in at 5.30, but they had bookings for 7pm. They did serve everything very fast but that suited us with small children. Food portions were very...big and there was a lot of leftovers from 3 adult meals. Food was very flavourful and we enjoyed it.More

Friendly staff who made us feel welcome. We just walked in and they made us feel welcome even though they were obviously busy. We enjoyed a fresh homemade lasagna and Devine mushroom asparagus risotto

Beautiful food, fabulous service. My son and I have eaten here a few times when I come to Hobart to visit him and we are never disappointed. Tonight we both had Spaghetti Marinara and it was amazing! Full of seafood and bursting with flavour. Highly...recommend!!More

Wonderful Italian meal in Sandy Bay. The shared antipasti appetiser for two is big enough to feed 4 people easily and was full of interesting little morsels. All the mains were enormous and 3 of the 4 people in the group kept trying to fit...in "one last morsel" as the dishes were so tasty. The gnocchi with lamb ragu was superb as was the saltimbocca alla romana. The wine list was expansive and there were lots of choices to match with the food. Would strongly recommend that you visit this place if in the area as it is a worthwhile experience.More

We both had the night’s special. “Blue eye fish” with a risotto and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was friendly and efficient. It seems to be a family friendly restaurant and though the place was full the noise level was acceptable. We would return.
