The food was great. The menu is extensive with some very authentic north Indian food taking advantage of local produce especially Tassie sea food. There's also a sensible kids' menu. There's a modest wine list including some stars like Ninth Island Pinot Noir. Sadly the service was terrible. The restaurant was barely half full but despite this the 3 waiters... More

We went here for dinner and had 2 veg curries. Eggplant masala and aloo gobi. The flavours were really delicious and rice and naan bread was prepared properly. I highly recommend it and if you are vegetarian it has lots of good options, more to choose from than most other places.

Small and a noisy restaurant. Service was slow and staff not very friendly and the food was not the authentic Indian food we have tasted much better at other Indian restaurants.

We were greeting with smiles, water and papadums. Soon we had our order taken and before long our meals had arrived. This was perfect for our two hungry sons. The food was delicious and good value. We left feeling full, but had eaten every bit. We will be back again, and again. Some of the best curry in Hobart, :).

My wife and I had two dishes between us. The Chicken Tikka Marsala and Madras Lamb with Rice and plain Naan Bread were excellent. Generous servings and their individual tastes were spot on.

Yesterday I went to this place with my family and we had a lovely evening. This place was recommended by some friends and I really feel thankful to them. All Curries that we ordered were made according to our preference and the whole experience was very good. At last we had this special Masala tea which gave us authentic Indian... More

After reading the reviews i was very excited to visit this restaurant. Somehow things were quite different. The restaurant is located at a good location but finding a place to park was a real nightmare. Once we entered the restaurant, we didnt recieve a very pleasant welcome. Everything felt very cold. The waiter serving us didnt know anything and the... More

Nothing fancy in terms of décor or location but if you are looking for really tasty Indian food than I would definitely recommend Mother India. Only been in Hobart a week or so but have been twice (...and I live in Sri Lanka, so should know good curry!).
