As we couldn’t get a booking to eat at Da Angelo, decided to try Solo when visiting Hobart. We were so glad we did. This restaurant was everything a local Italian should be. We were quickly greeted and ushered to a table in a quieter...part of the busy restaurant, and proceeded to have a great night out. Our Host/owner was attentive not only to us, but every one in the restaurant, buzzing around, making sure everything was perfect and clearly loving his role. Our two dishes, prawn pasta and veal with Bolognaise sauce were both delicious, this we paired with a chilled local Rose wine. A complimentary Limoncello was offered and this rounded off a perfect night. Highly recommended, wish this restaurant was in Sydney.More

On a recent visit to Hobart I chose to have dinner at Solo Pasta and Pizza after reading the reviews. Unfortunately I was sorely disappointed for the following reasons: 1. Carbonara was a watery soup, the sauce did not stick to the pasta as it...should and a spoon was needed for every mouthful to get the sauce. 2. The pizza base was obviously a permanent frozen base, definitely not a freshly made Italian style base - it was doughy and glutinous. 3. Do not sit on table 9, positioned between the toilets, kitchen, end of the bar and order area. The staff seemed unable to walk past out table without knocking either our chairs or us physically one. We stopped counting after 20 knocks. 4. On the expensive side - $25 for entree sized pasta and $29 for main! 5. When we went to pay we were asked if we enjoyed our meal. Having worked in the hospitality industry myself I always feel it is better to provide feedback so improvements can be made. When I replied ‘not as much as I was hoping’ and told them of points 1 and 3 above, the response was ‘oh you were on no 9, yes sorry we have got to stop running around like headless chickens but we are so busy’. I rarely write a bad review without giving the restaurant the opportunity to respond privately first, however the response I got in the restaurant was ‘basically too bad’ and there was no email address on the website to write to. With all the great restaurants in Hobart, I feel here are so many other better places to spend your hard earned cash!More

Had dinner last night, excellent food , the gnocchi was the best I’ve ever had , my wife had marinara with the white cream sauce with gnocchi and she was very impressed ( she owns her own catering business) As good as any Italian restaurant...in Lygon St Carlton in MelbourneMore

I'm also vegetarian but eat cheese so didn't look at vegan options - if you go to their website, they include a copy of their menu.
