Our friendship group met after work on a Friday night and were met with lovely, friendly staff who provided great service. We started our night with cocktails and the Dana Spritz was amazing! We shared small plates, which was a fantastic way to sample lots of the menu and it was economical too. We were full and even shared dessert. The dumplings, savoury doughnuts, rotti, radish cake, mango and lime cheesecake and orange chocolate moose were all delicious. It was also nice there are so many vegetarian and vegan options as one of our party is vegetarian and we all really enjoyed those offerings. There are also larger plates and we look forward to visiting again to try those stir fries. The space is set up in a very inviting and cosy manner with modern and natural touches and the beer garden set up outside will be perfect for after work drinks and yummy delights come spring and summer time.

My (now) wife and I originally hired this venue for 14 people for our wedding lunch. Throughout the past few months, rolling lockdowns prevented about half of our party from attending. The continual changes that Dana were willing to faciliate was a massive relief for us and they truly helped to make the day extremely enjoyable.
We opted for a $70pp package (3 courses, 'a little larger and more seafood-focused' and no dessert) and brought our own cake. The food was absolutely gorgeous- extremely fresh, clean, and detailed. All of the staff (before the day and on it) were extremely hospitable and flexible for our arrangements- that said, we had a very chilled approach to our wedding.
I would STRONGLY recommend Dana for dining ranging: a casual brunch and a formal event.

Easy to find, lots of on street parking, and cozy, intimate atmosphere. Dāna is Hobart’s best new restaurant! Extensive and unique wine, cocktail and beer list, delicious, good-looking and fresh food - we had the $65 Feed Me, which easily catered to our tables dietary needs. Friendly staff and fast service. Will definitely be back again!

We were really looking forward to our first experience. Some friends went recently and advised that they felt it was too expensive and the wine choice didn't offer any realistically priced wines. But, I thought I would book a table for our small group anyway and make my own decision.
Firstly, our waiter (sorry, can't remember his name) was very good I have to say, probably a bit too keen to top up wines and take plates away, to be honest. Then the music .. much too loud! We are in the 50s to 60s age group and, yes, our hearing is probably not good, but with tables chatting next to us talking loudly over the music, plus our waiter made a comment that we were indeed leaning forward to listen to each other, it wasn't a pleasant experience. We tend to enjoy all kinds of music, but it became quite unbearable; the music should have been much more subtle, focusing on the food and wine rather than someone's debatable choice of music to create a kind of atmosphere. We asked for the music to be turned down twice, which it was eventually, but the volume seemed to find it's way up again later on.
Choices of wines were disappointing. Our waiter did give us an excellent rundown of the complexities of the wines available, but our final choice was not available and we were left having an overpriced mediocre red from the mainland. Tasmania has SO many lovely wines and, in this Covid environment, surely you should be supporting local wines, particularly our own pinots for example which go very well with the style of food available.
The food in general was good, not brilliant. My friend made a cheeky comment that there must be a thermomix in the kitchen as the choices we shared were tasty enough, but mostly soft food and very limited in textures. We dine out every week, trying all the restaurants Hobart has to offer; I see you have some really good reviews and I hope your popularity continues, but we won't be going again, sorry!

Hello! We totally agree that Tasmania has great wines and particularly Pinot Noir; all of the Pinot Noir on our list (by the pour and bottle) bar one NZ drop are Tasmanian (currently Two Tonne, Stargazer, Dr. Edge and Anim). The rest of the country are in lockdown/heavily affected by COVID-19 so we will continue to support our mainland winemakers too.
We’d like to mention that though the majority of our wines listed are in the $55-$75 range, should you or your friends aforementioned choose to visit again our waitstaff are more than happy to chat about the wines on the list plus some alternatives in the cellar to find a local or otherwise bottle that suits your budget or what is deemed as ‘realistic’.
We’re sorry you were disappointed and we were not the right fit on this occasion.
Warm regards,
Dāna Management

We had our staff Christmas party in the ‘jungle’ . The space was excellent- we had our own bar and the jungle to our selves and it was set up for a standing and sitting mix. The staff were amazing- service was faultless with Tim and Louie reading the room for timing for bringing out food and topping up drinks. The canapés were delicious- fresh, fragrant and tasty, and really appealed to our ‘foodie’ team! The communications with Mikaela to organise our party were efficient and friendly which made the whole process easy. We feel we had excellent value for money and would highly recommend Dana eating house for people looking for a fabulous venue for a special function.

My family and I went for dinner for my Nanna’s 80th Birthday and we had the most amazing experience here. Each dish was explained, presented beautifully and tasted so unique. We enjoyed the Chef’s special board and our lovely waitress Rhiannon, was happy to include some meals we really wanted to try. Rhiannon recommenced some winning drinks and dishes, was approachable and went that extra mile. She even arranged for Nanna to have a cocktail made to her taste with a birthday candle! This really made our night and my Nanna’s. Between Rhiannon’s A++ service and the food all of my family would recommend eating here (we all range in age and palates). Thank you to the chef and staff at Dana.

Terrific new Hobart CBD destination in the site previously occupied by The Italian Pantry. Fully re-modelled, S-E Asian vibe with an interesting menu and great wine list. Their ethos is generosity - and the meal we enjoyed today epitomised that. Try the fish sauce caramel!! Try the vegan curry!! The rice is really good. ****

I have only good things to say about this place.
The food is incredibly clean and easy to taste each individual flavour in the dishes.
I was also very impressed with the mocktail I ordered, it was incredibly tasty and well presented. (quite often this is an over looked drink in most venues)
The staff are friendly and the service is incredibly efficient.
Highly recommend for a date or anniversary.

I arrived in Hobart late and it was hard to find a good restaurant opened. When I arrived, the staff were so friendly and they went to make sure the kitchen stayed open for my order.
I had some Oysters which were reasonable. Then I had a charred eggplant with a mushroom broth, pickles and some thai spices... It was very tasty and different. Never had anything like it before.
The cappacio was OK, but I had 2 very yummy rum based cocktails. One with some frozen dry mangoes that tasted so good, I asked for more, and they put some on a little dish for me.
Nothing was too much trouble for every member of staff I came across. And food was creative and interesting. A very pleasant find indeed.

Dana is my favourite restaurant and my go to for any dinner celebration. I went there on a Sunday night with 5 of my dearest friends for the $80pp feed me menu. As always the food was outstanding! I was celebrating 1 year of sobriety and on arrival I was given the most delicious mocktail that had a candle too and made me feel so special!. And I enjoyed many more specially made mocktails throughout the evening. Service was professional and efficient. Not one of us were left needing anything and they always gave great descriptions of each dish as it came out. I love Dana and can't wait for my next visit. Thank you all!

This was a really beautiful dining experience. We had the$90/head chefs menu, and every dish was delicious and fresh, a bit unusual and full of flavour The waitresses were really knowledgeable and explained each dish. The raspberry sorbet at the end was a real highlight.

Food, drinks & service are excellent - from booking all the way through service, staff are personable, super friendly and go out of their way to make sure you're having a great time. All dietary requirements are well catered for - celiacs and vegans are well looked after, with loads of options, including multiple desserts. The food is amazing - I recommend booking the chef's table. Caters well for small to large bookings.

Our party of four had lunch at the new Dana Eating House. The service was very attentive and friendly. The selection from the lunch menu is not all that comprehensive but all of our meals were tasty and filling. The location of the Dana Eating House is central and within easy reach of parking. All in all, a very good experience and well done. Recommended.

The staff are hip, happening, smart, use their initiative and treat you like you're the most important people in the world. The waitstaff are So knowledgeable and So enthusiastic about the food, you would swear each one if them must be an owner of the business. Their booking system is slick. Their attenton to detail is impeccable. They worked within our tight time frame, but it's good to see that they also make provision for those who want to linger and pace their food. Drinks came in a flash and water was always kept up to us, especially after I had stupidly eaten some very hot chilli! The food was to die for. The main courses can be individual or shared - great idea. The tapas line-up was spectacular. We only had time for mains but can't wait to return, not just for the food but because the ATMOSPHERE is so conducive to a great night out with friends.
